Dear friends, booksellers and dog-lovers!

M

artha is excited to share her new Canine Caper Kit with you! It contains everything you need to throw a fun-filled Doggie party. Included are: nametags, coloring sheets, activity sheets, and “Martha Reads” stickers! Martha is quite a unique dog. It all started the day her owner, Helen, fed her alphabet soup. The letters went up to her brain instead of down to her stomach and Martha hasn’t stopped talking since! Martha has had many adventures—foiling burglars, fighting corporate downsizing, winning radio call-in contests, rescuing friends from the animal shelter, and taming the neighborhood bully. She is looking forward to more laugh-out-loud, mischievous escapades with you in the future. Here are some helpful tips to make your party dog-and-kid-friendly. • Be sure to have a good supply of ‘doggie-do-do’ bags, stashed in a handy location for your guests. • Have a ‘pottie-liaison’ for the humans that need to go. • Supply dog treats to pass out. • Make sure you have enough water and dog bowls, for your thirsty doggie partygoers. • Allow for a guest “quiet zone” (2- or 4-legged) to escape to, if they need to get away from the crowd. In addition to being fun, the activities in this kit are educational, exploring what may or may not be appropriate to say, teaching language skills such as spelling and reading, and decoding context clues. We hope you enjoy this Canine Caper Kit. Thank you for your enthusiasm and support for our books about Martha the talking dog!
