Potential Explanations for the November 2014 Sverdlovska Night Flash Unexplained events stir something in all of us. Some of us crave structure and knowledge. When we witness an event such as the Sverdlovska night flash, we look to science for an explanation. Others of us are certain that there is something supernatural at hand. The night flash on November 14, 2014 was one such event, and it caused a real stir. It was certainly a sight to behold. Observers described the event as watching the night being turned into day. The sky took on a stunning red hue that morphed into a bright yellow light. The question is, what caused this phenomenon? It seems that people have formed a variety of opinions on the causes of this event. It's not surprising. Any event of this nature is going to draw the attention of believers in the supernatural, curious observers, and the skeptical. As is the case with many events like this, there is no definitive explanation of what occurred that night. However, there are many theories, which reflect a wide range of beliefs and life experiences. Reviewing these theories with an open mind is a great way to gain insight into others' world views. Let's take a look at some potential explanations for that night flash.
Possible Extraterrestrial Activity
People who believe in the existence of extraterrestrial life, and that living beings from other planets and solar systems are trying to make contact with us, have expressed their opinions that this event was caused by extraterrestrial activity. This theory does have some traction, as it matches anecdotal accounts of other UFO sightings and alien contact. There have been multiple cases in the past century where many people in the same communities have reported seeing a bright flash of light while other members of the community have experienced what they describe as attempts by extraterrestrial life forms to contact them. Many are tempted to dismiss these accounts as ridiculous, but that would require ignoring the fact that people who have no relationship with each other have nearly identical accounts.
A Meteor Explosion
From a strictly scientific perspective, this is a plausible explanation of the event that occurred. In fact, many skeptics believe that the event did not last as long as the video that can be found on the internet indicates. Observers believe the videographer used time lapse and other means to make it appear as if the event lasted longer than it did, and also to give the viewer the idea that the intensity was much greater than it actually was. If this is the case, then it is certainly possible that this event was no more than a meteor exploding with its pieces lighting up the sky. Astronomers, however, point out that the color is all wrong. These events produce a white, not orange or yellow light.
Weapons Testing/Ammunition Disposal
This event occurred in a region where the government is known for increasing aggressiveness. It isn't surprising that many people would attribute it to some form of weapons testing. When one considers that governments of all stripes engage in secretive tests involving military equipment and weaponry, this theory certainly appears to have merits. And because the regions was once and ICBM missile site, others suggest that ammunition disposal might be the cause. Skeptics of these explanations point out that there was no sound created with the flash. So, we have a huge flash in the sky, lasting for what most on-the-ground observers say was 10 seconds; and we have no residual proof to support any of the potential causes

UFO, meteor explosion, or government-created event. Like so many others around the world of a similar nature, this event will fade from memories and ultimately cease to be newsworthy. And explanations will no longer be sought.
