Perform Simultaneous Multiparty Real-Time Collaboration

The Web version of AutoVue Electro-Mechanical Professional allows extended
global teams to communicate as if they were in the same room. You can
simultaneously review and mark up documents, assign action items, and resolve
design issues in real time. These built-in collaboration tools are available at no
additional cost.

Protect Valuable Intellectual Property

With the AutoVue Electro-Mechanical Professional Web-based architecture, an
image of the document is streamed to desktops for viewing; originals never leave the
server, and no local temp or local cache file of any kind is created in the process.
Sensitive information and valuable intellectual property are protected.

Key Features and Capabilities

View hundreds of document types. Open, view, and mark up numerous file types
including EDA printed circuit board (PCB) layouts and schematics, 2D/3D
computer-aided design (CAD), Microsoft Office, portable document format, and
graphics—all without the authoring software.

Add markups and comments. Manage and track feedback, change requests, and
comments across multiple reviewers.

Figure 1: Make markups and comments on designs.

Create an electro-mechanical digital mockup. Combine native 3D parts (from

disparate 3D CAD systems) and EDA designs into a single digital assembly to easily
create virtual prototypes, check for interference, and validate design integrity.

Use advanced printing. Save time by automating the printing process—batch print
files, customize print settings, and save print configurations.

MCAD Features and Capabilities

Perform precise measurements. Speed up design reviews by performing precise
measurements on 3D and 2D designs, including mass properties, distance, areas,
angles, and more.

Compare designs. Compare 3D assemblies to determine what has been added,

removed, or changed. This unique feature goes beyond a graphical comparison and
includes the ability to detect changes to nongraphical attributes at the part or
assembly level. AutoVue Electro-Mechanical Professional also supports graphical
comparison of 2D files.

Figure 3. Compare 2D and 3D designs.

Create exploded views. Explode complex 3D assemblies to get to the component

level faster and create clear illustrations for control documents, such as assembly
and maintenance instructions.

Figure 4: Create exploded views of 3D assemblies.

Section 3D Models. Cross-section assemblies to draw attention to internal structures

and assembly relationships or measure dimensions within individual parts.

View 2D models and draft models. Quickly access the 2D drafts associated with
your 3D models.

Perform 3D entity searches. Search and filter for parts in a 3D assembly based on a
variety of native file attributes to quickly find the information you need.

Share product manufacturing information (PMI), geometric dimensioning and

tolerance (GD&T), and functional tolerance annotation (FTA) data. Access
PMI, GD&T, and FTA data and reliably convey product design information directly

to the shop floor and the manufacturing, quality, and engineering departments—
decreasing the time required to resolve design issues and avoiding design and
fabrication errors.

EDA Features and Capabilities

Access the fully embedded intelligence in a PCB. Access intelligence in a PCB by
querying for attributes of traces, nets, components, and geometry library objects.

Navigate layers with ease and control. Turn on and off physical layers and entity
types associated with each layer and bring layers to the top with a mouse click.
Access layer sets as predefined in the authoring application or define your own.

Figure 6: Navigate easily between layers and controls.

Perform precise measurements. Speed design reviews by precisely measuring to

the end point or midpoint of a line, the intersection of two nets, the center of a circle,
or any pin/via/symbol origin. Use the Minimum Distance tool to measure proximity
of nets, pins, and pads to one another from the edge of the net or the components.

Cross-probe between a PCB layout, its related schematics, or a 3D PCB. Select

a net or component in a schematic and it is instantaneously located and highlighted
in the layout, or vice versa. Easily find all occurrences of a particular component or
net and navigate between them, should they be present on multiple sheets of a
schematic. In addition, there is an automatic mode that can intelligently determine
the appropriate view (layout, schematic, 3D) for the cross-probe target.
