Description

HP support for Broadcom 10Gb (HP 53x) adapters is not available at this time for Solaris
11.1.

Workaround/Solution

Support for these controllers will be announced at a later date.

Emulex NIC support

Description

HP support for Emulex network adapters is not available at this time for Solaris 11.1.

Workaround/Solution

Support for these controllers will be announced at a later date.

Virtual Connect Flex-10 NIC support

Description

Due to limitations with Broadcom and Emulex 10Gb NIC adapters, HP support of network
adapters that support Virtual Connect Flex-10 for Solaris 11.1 is not available at this
time.

Workaround/Solution

Support for Flex-10 adapters will be announced at a later date.

HP Insight Management Agent support

Description

ProLiant Insight Management Agent support for Solaris 11.1 is not available at this time.

Workaround/Solution

Support for ProLiant Agentless Management Service (hp ams) will be announced at a
later date.

Limit use of LSI H220 and H221 SAS controllers to internal drive bays
Description

The use of LSI SAS controllers with Solaris 11 is recommended to be limited to internal
drive bays.

Workaround/Solution

HP Smart Array controllers will support D2600 and D2700 external drive enclosures with
Solaris 11.1.

Known Issues
Known issues with Solaris 11.1 on ProLiant servers and options

Issue

Details

Issue 1

SPP off-line flash process does not work for Broadcom FW components.
Description

Workaround/Solution

The HP Service Pack for ProLiant - SPP 2013.09.0(B) offline flash process for FW
components cannot be used for Broadcom NIC adapters.
Install the Broadcom FW v1.34 directly from CP021161.scexe using the following steps:
1.

Boot your system from the DVD for SPP 2013.09.0(B).

2.

Select the Interactive Update menu option.

3.

Select Firmware Update

4.

Wait for HP Smart Update Manager to load the list of available FW components.

5.

Break into CLI shell - press CTRL+ALT+ d + b + x

6.

Locate Broadcom NIC FW - /media/EMBEDDED/NICFW /CP021161.scexe

7.

Execute the FW component install utility sh CP021161.scexe"

A fix for this issue will be available in a future SPP release.

Issue 2

D560 Gen8 boot panic

Description

DL560 Gen8 may panic at boot (including booting from the installation media or from PXE)
with a panic string similar to: tilelet_assign_fini_cb(): tile 0x2 in memgrp 0 was unused.

Workaround/Solution

Enable memory node interleaving in the ROM Based Setup Utility (RBSU).
A fix for this issue is expected in a future Oracle Solaris 11 SRU.

Issue 3

iLO Scripting Utility upgrade message

Description

XML responses from iLO when using hponcfg and cpqlocfg may report Scripting Utility
should be updated to the latest version.

Workaround/Solution

No workaround is available. Utility operation is unaffected by this message.

A fix for this message will be released in a future update to the
proliant/management/iloutils package.
