ABSTRAK

Kajian ini dilaksanakan khusus untuk meninjau sama ada penggunaan pendekatan koperatif
model STAD dapat meningkatkan pencapaian, sikap positif dan motivasi murid Tahun 5
dalam tajuk perimeter. Kajian ini dibuat bagi menentukan pendekatan koperatif berjaya
sebagai satu pendekatan pengajaran dan pembelajaran yang lebih baik daripada pembelajaran
tradisional. Kajian telah dijalankan selama enam minggu. Sampel kajian terdiri daripada 40
orang murid Tahun 5 di sebuah sekolah kebangsaan di daerah Hilir Perak yang dibahagikan
kepada dua kumpulan iaitu 20 orang murid Kumpulan Kawalan dan 20 orang lagi Kumpulan
Rawatan. Kumpulan Rawatan telah diberi rawatan mengenai pendekatan koperatif model
STAD manakala Kumpulan Kawalan tidak diberi sebarang rawatan sebaliknya mengikuti
proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran seperti biasa daripada guru matematik mereka. Keduadua kumpulan telah diminta menduduki dua ujian iaitu ujian pra dan ujian pos. Rasionalnya,
ujian pra ini dijalankan bagi memberi gambaran awal terhadap prestasi kedua-dua kumpulan
sebelum proses rawatan dijalankan. Ujian pos pula menyusul selepas proses rawatan diberi
bagi melihat perbezaan pencapaian murid-murid tersebut. Dalam kajian ini, pengkaji sendiri
telah menjalankan proses rawatan bagi Kumpulan Rawatan dengan mengadakan enam
pertemuan, empat kali daripadanya adalah proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran koperatif
model STAD. Kajian dianalisis secara statistik dengan mencari min, sisihan piawai dan ujiant. Daripada kajian ini terbukti bahawa pembelajaran koperatif model STAD telah
meningkatkan pencapaian, sikap positif dan motivasi murid dalam tajuk Perimeter.
Kesimpulannya, kajian ini membuktikan bahawa pengajaran dan pembelajaran koperatif
model STAD adalah lebih baik daripada pembelajaran tradisional.

ABSTRACT
This research was conducted to analyse the effectiveness of the cooperative learning
approach of model Students-Team-Achievement-Division (STAD) on

Year 5 students

achievement, positive attitude and motivasion in the topic of Perimeter. The research also
determine the achievenest of the cooperative learning as the best method for teaching and
learning process compared to traditional. This research took six weeks to complete. The
sample consisted of 40 Year 5 students from primary school in Hilir Perak district who were
divided into two groups which 20 students in treatment group studied the material in the
cooperative learning and 20 students in the control group studied the material independently.
Both group were required to sit for a pre test and a post test. The pre test was conducted to
evaluate the skills of both groups before giving treatment. The post test was to analyse the
differences in skills of both groups after the treatment processes. The researcher had six
meetings with the respondents, four of it which were the teaching and learning processes in
the classroom related to cooperative learning approach of model Students Team-Achievement
Division (STAD) on the topic of Perimeter. The Treatment Group were given cooperative
learning and for the Control Group, the teaching and learning lessons were conducted by their
subject teacher.

The research analyzed statistically by finding the mean,

standard deviation and t-test. It was proven that the STAD cooperative
learning model has increased achievement, positive attitudes and
motivation of students in the title Perimeter. In conclusion, this
reserch proves that the teaching and STAD cooperative learning
model is better than traditional learning.
