Slo-Pitch Tournament

(revised Sumer 2013)

The slo-pitch tournament runs on the last weekend of September. The tournament is open to men and women and
offers two levels of competition; tier 1, the more competitive division for experienced players and tier 2, the more
recreational division. Games will consist of either seven (7) innings or 90 minutes of playing time, whichever comes
first. York students, alumni, staff, faculty and members of the Tait McKenzie Centre are eligible to participate. Varsity,
national and professional players are not eligible to participate in this league.

Scheduling
All round robin games are played on the Saturday and playoffs on the Sunday. All games will be played on the Passy
Diamonds. Please check Imleagues.com for game locations. Captains will be given the opportunity to identify
preferred times of play when registering the team on Imleagues.com. The Intramural Office will accommodate these
requests where possible.
The Intramural Office will make every effort to evenly distribute the less preferred playing times amongst the teams.

Cancelled and Rescheduled Games


Notification of emergency cancellations will be issued through the Imleagues Message Center. Please ensure your
information is up-to-date. Rescheduled times will be made available as soon as possible.

Communication
It is recommended that communication between captains and sport supervisors (admin) be done using the Imleagues
Message Center.

Identification
Identification checks will be strictly enforced. All players must show a valid YU-card prior to each game. Alumni, staff,
faculty and Tait McKenzie members must valid identification and receipt for non-student fee. Alumni cards are
available through the York Alumni Office, West Office Building, 416-650-8159.
There will be no exceptions to this rule.

Uniforms
All team members are required to be in identical jerseys. Every player must be in uniform with a unique number, it is
preferred for players to wear the same number for the duration of the season. Mandatory uniforms will be enforced
starting from the first game, the Intramural Office will loan a team set of jerseys for the season for a bond of $300.

Playoffs
Playoff schedules will be available on Imleagues.com, schedules will be made available at least 12 hours prior to the
start of the playoffs.

Results and Standings


Results and standings will be regularly updated on the Imleagues.com. Check in often to ensure your teams results
are accurate. This will help ensure a smooth transition to playoffs.

Playoff Eligibility
To be eligible for playoffs, a player must have played in at least one round robin game. A record of games played will
be available from the sport supervisor at all times.
Player eligibility will be tracked through Imleagues.com, players must appear on the teams roster to gain eligibility for
games played.

RULES AND REGULATIONS


The rules of the Softball Canada handbook and the York University Intramural Program are applied and modified as

Teams will play with 9 players in the field, minimum of 4 of each gender. In the event that a team does
not have enough players of one gender up team may play with as few as 2 but not more than 6 players
of each gender. Less than eight players will result in a default. ie. 6 males & 2 females
The ten minute default rule will be in effect. If a team is not on the field ready to play ten minutes after
the scheduled start time, a default will result. Two defaults will result in elimination from the tournament.
The default score will be 5-0.
Teams will be scheduled to umpire games when their team is not playing. Failure to provide an umpire
will count as a default towards the team.
The rules of play will be as indicated in the YUSL handbook. You can find a copy of the handbook on
Imleagues.com as well as with the sport supervisor during the tournament.
The Sport Supervisor will be available to clarify any disputed calls with regards to the YUSL handbook.
The convenor has the authority to eject any player that they believe is exhibiting rough play or
unsportsmanlike conduct. Any player ejected will be subject to a review for further suspension.
All players must wear proper athletic clothing. The minimum is running shoes (no sandals) and athletic
pants/shorts.
