a)

State the basic rules to be followed when conducting a leveling.


(5 marks)

b)

Benchmark (BM) is a reference point in leveling. Explain about BM and Standard


Benchmark (SBM).
(5 marks)

c)

Figure 2 illustrates the leveling carried out at Jalan Seri Iskandar started at BM K12 and
finish at BM K13. Observations are made in sequence from instrument stations S^ S2
and S3. Based on the data given in Table 2;
i) Book the observations
ii) Calculate the final reduced level of point A, B, C, D, E, F, and G using the rise and
fall method.

A series of offsets were taken from a chain line to a curved boundary line at an interval
of 10m in the following order: 1.33, 3.25, 5.60, 6.60, 8.45, 8.95, 5.85, 0 meters.
Calculate the area between the chain line and the curved boundary by;

ii) Simpson's rule
