What's it worth?

"they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony" Revelation 12:11 I know that if someone where to give me something that is worth more than anythi ng I own, I don't go a shelve it. Yet we have a hard time exercising, in our liv es and in others, the earth shattering power that God has given to us today. If we have a better understanding of what He went through, we won't be so quick to shelve the power of God. Yes, you have the power of God inside you, all christia ns do. Today we re going to focus on the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the suffering h e endured painfully and shamefully as he hung, crucified and nailed to the cross . Why did He do this...to give life and life more abundantly. That's the purpose of the blood. That's why He had shed His blood for you and me and went through so much pain and suffering. He loves us so much and wants us to not only enjoy l ife but to live it powerfully. To understand exactly what the power of God is and what it does, it is really im portant to understand the cross and why He went through all that pain. Here are the 4 different ways He shed His blood at the cross: 1. Scourged/WIPED Why? To have Divine health and wholeness. Let's look at John 19:1 "So then Pilate took Jesus and scourged Him." It was bec ause of this act that we can live in health and walk in our healing. Isaiah 53:5 says "He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed". They scourged (beat) Jesus using a Cat of 9 Tails. Was He given 39 lashes or mor e? There seems to be no limit to how many lashes the Romans could give. It is no t known whether the number of lashes given Jesus was limited to 39, in accordanc e with the Jewish law. There is no evidence that the Romans had any set limit to how many lashes they gave. What about the cat of 9 tails, you ask? Well, it wasn't really 9, that was the B ritish version. If you have done even a little study on Roman scourging whips you already know t he Romans did NOT call their whips a cat of nine tails. The Latin word they used is flagrum. Flagellum is the English derivative. Even though most Christians re fer to a Roman whip as a Cat of Nine Tails a real British Cat O Nine Tails is li ke a toy in comparison. The Roman Whip to scourge Jesus: 1.A Roman flagrum had from as few as 3, to as many as 12 leather straps. 2.All Roman scourging whips had either glass, nails or jagged sheep bone embedde d in various size lead tips on each strap. He very likely had more than 39 lashes. Confession was the purpose of scourging. Roman scourging whips were designed to extract information and confessions. If the accused quickly told the Romans what they wanted to hear, they MIGHT survive . If the Romans were not convinced that they were getting the truth, the victim would surely die a slow, painful, horrific death. If you study all four of the g ospel accounts you will find that AFTER Pilate asked Jesus what is truth he had Je sus scourged. Scourging was a common way of finding out the whole truth. Since J

esus didn't satisfy Pilate, He very likely had more than 39 lashes. Jesus did al l this so that we can have health and healing everyday. Why not stand on that pr omise? 2. Thorns of poison Why? To have the victory over the battle of our minds with the ultimate purpose of having the mind of Christ. They twisted a crown of thorns and placed it on His head. In John 19:2-3 it says "The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They c lothed him in a purple robe and went up to him again and again, saying, "Hail, k ing of the Jews!" And they struck him in the face." In Genesis 3:.18 it says thorns were part of the curse of God upon the ground. J esus wore a crown of thorns, taking our curse. We are free from all curses and t hat includes family curses. You can find thorns on the hill of Bethlehem. A twig about as thick as a pinkie, bent into a twisted "J" shape and covered with groupings of spiky thorns. They' re the color of brown mustard and about an inch-and-a-half long. The points of t he thorns are sharp on the fingertip, not sharp like a needle's point, which wou ld be easier to pierce into someone's skull, but more like the tip of a househol d steak knife. This is the plant they used as the crown of thorns for Jesus when he was crucified. The juice inside these thorns are very poisonous, even to the touch. As the blood of Jesus ran down his face, the poison entered His head, slowly dis rupting and altering His mental state. Never again do we have to accept the lie that we're not good enough. With a sound mind we can all fulfill the call that G od has for each of us. 3. Nailed to a tree Why? Jesus shed His blood in His hands and feet for us so that we could work for Him, walk with Him, and have a ministry through Him. He was nailed to a tree. The crucifixion nails were 5" for the hands and 7" for the feet. Luke 23:33 says And when they came to the place, which is called Calvary, there t hey crucified Him. To crucify, they would nail spikes into the hands and feet to keep them on the c ross. Hands and feet are always symbolic to us of the anointing of God in action . 4. Pierced Why? The Lord was willing to die and shed His blood for us so we can have death to self and resurrection life. He also shed His blood from His side and gave His life for us so that we can be at His side, now and for all eternity. When they pierced His body, blood didn t just trickle out, it poured, spewed and f lowed out. John 19:34 reveals to us, But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced His side, and forth with came out blood and water. The blood and water clearly s hows us that Jesus was dead. Jesus suffered, why? So that we could have eternal life? Yes, but is that it? Wa y no! That's just one part. There's great power in the blood of Jesus. Live a li fe of power, earth shattering power! The only thing that can stop you is sin, no t the devil. The devil is a zero. You know what you get when you put thousands z eros together? Answer is: 0. Don't let the enemy use fear against you because he

can't do a thing unless you let him through sin. The ball is in your court. God has given you the power. Don't put it on a shelf.
