distribute clothing, kitchen ware, blankets,
pillows and toiletries for those in need.
Recently, the long planned overhaul of
our kitchen operations took place as the
menu was expanded and space re-
painted. Also, new coffee equipment with
a wider selection of options was recently
added, as well as the installation of a new
touch screen point-of-sale system that
allows us to accept debit cards.
As our programs have grown to meet our
community’s needs, so has the
excitement at the Alan Club. Membership
and volunteerism have seen a steady
increase over the past six months and
that appears to be the future trend.
Organizationally, we continue to maintain
a full board with a number of additions
while establishing the Advisory
Council. The Council is a small group that
meets with the Foundation's Executive
Committee several times a year. It is
currently focused solely on fund
development for the Alano Foundation.

We have applied for $175,000 of Federal
funding to support our operations and
programs. Additionally, we are working
with State legislators to seek funds and
funding ideas. The third part of our fund
development strategy has been working
with Wisconsin-based foundations and
individuals in Milwaukee for grants.
As we look forward this year to further
capital improvements, central air-
conditioning on the first floor and
expanded fund development efforts and
success, we can look back at 2009 with a
great sense of achievement at the
collective stewardship of our Foundation.
Your hard work and dedication is a
testament to the continued importance of
the Alano Foundation on Milwaukee's
Eastside.

WOMEN’S INITIATIVE
The Alano Foundation of Milwaukee is developing a
women’s initiative with the sole purpose of providing a
progressive, educational-based network of resources
for women in recovery at the Alano Club.
The women’s initiative will host events and workshops
with childcare assistance at the Alano Club. Upcoming
events sponsored by the Alano Foundation of Milwau-
kee’s women’s initiative include:
• Women’s Wellness Day
Saturday, April 24 at 1 - 5 p.m.
*Kickoff workshop featuring wellness treatments,
fellowship, meditation and discussion
ALANO CLUB MEMBERSHIP
The Alano Club has provided an environment for
recovery for more than 60 years in Milwaukee. The
Alano Foundation of Milwaukee and Alano Club operate
as a nonprofit organization which survives through the
volunteerism and support of members and guests.
To support the Alano Club in providing a safe and
enjoyable environment to help others find sobriety and
recovery in life, you can become a member by:

Club, there are more than 160 AA meetings that are attended
by over 4,000 people.
