200 years in the future, Jake, a paralyzed war veteran, is brought together with other native to
Pandora planet. It is inhabited by a humanoid race, the Na'vi, an ancient civilization at all unhappy of
guests. Jake and his fellows must fight in order to find their place on Pandora and meanwhile the
young man falls in love with Neytiri, a local woman. Avatar is the first big-screen feature film of
James Cameron, after the most profitable film of all time, Titanic.
Until the year 2154, mankind has depleted the natural resources of the planet. Resources
Development Administration (RDA) operates an extremely valuable ore -unobtanium- on Pandora, a
habitable moon with dense forests orbiting around the giant Polyphemus in the Alpha Centauri solar
system. Pandora, whose atmosphere is poisonous to humans, is inhabited by the na'vi, some
humanoids, threemetres high and with a blue-colored skin, who are living in harmony with nature and
worship a deity called Eywa.
To explore Pandora's biosphere, scientists use humans to link with their own avatar, a geneticallybred humans- Na'vi hybrid. Jake Sully, an ex-soldier in the U.s. Navy, who is now immobilized in
a wheelchair,
replacing his
deceased twin
brother to
control such
an Avatar. Dr. Grace Augustine, the
the Avatar Program,
considers Sully an unsuitable replacement, but eventually agrees to take him as a security escort on
her team while they're on the planet's surface.
When he guard the Avatars of Grace and scientists Norm Spellman while they collected samples
of the flora and make measurements, Jake's Avatar is attacked by a fiery creature and he flies into the
forest where he is saved by Neytiri, a female na'vi. Noticing a suspicious sign, she takes him to her
clan, and after that the mother of Neytiri, Mo'at, who are the spiritual leader of the clan,
orders Neytiri to integrate him into their society. Colonel Miles Quaritch, the head of the private
security force of RDA, promises to Sully that if he gives them information inside the Na'vi
clan and especially about the place where they gather, a giant tree called "Hometree", under which
lies the largest ore of unobotaniu, the company will finance the treatment he needs to regain use of his

problem is that Jake can be easily removed from the game, just by turning off the capsule in which he
is and with which he controlls the Avatar, and the capsule belongs to exactly those against whom he
leads war.
