energy program. The US Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources is considering two bills
aimed at boosting hydropower in Alaska. The Canadian Province of Alberta called on the government to
quadruple wind power capacity. Additionally, the Governor of New York pledged to decrease
Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and boost climate change efforts. In Asia-Pacific, The Australian
Capital Territory (ACT) carried out its second large-scale wind energy auction. China announced a solar
Photovoltaic (PV) target of 150 Gigawatts (GW) by 2020. India aims to offer solar energy at a low rate amounting to INR4.75 ($0.07) per unit. Also in India, the government put forward its Intended Nationally
Determined Contribution (INDC) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
(UNFCCC). In Europe, Middle East and Africa, the UK s Darlington Borough Council introduced a solar
scheme. In Denmark, intense contest is expected to be witnessed for the 600 Megawatt (MW) Kriegers
