MUADH IBN JABAL, SAHABA AND GREAT SCHOLOR

Muadh ibn Jabal, he was a young man grown up in Yathrib as the brightness of Islam
and truth began to extend over the Arabian Peninsula. Muadh ibn Jabal had a
handsome and impressive character with curly hairs and black eyes he impressed
whoever he met. He was well-known for the sharpness of his intelligence among
young peoples of his age.
Muadh ibn jabal became Muslim at the hands of Musab ibn Umair, Prophet (pbuh)
had sent him to Yathrib before the hijrat. Muadh was among the 72 peoples of Yathrib
who journeyed to Mecca, one year before the hijrat, and met the Prophet (pbuh) at his
home and soon after again in the Mina valley.
After Muadh returned to Madina from Mecca, he and a some others of his age made a
group to destroy idols from the houses of the mushrikeen in Yathrib.
When our Prophet (pbuh) reached Madina, Muadh ibn Jabal try to stayed in his
company as much as possible. He studied the laws of Islam and the Quran until he
became one of the well-versed among all the companions in the Islam.
People referred to Muadh for legal judgments and matters. His knowledge was the
stamp of authenticity. The best certificate and reward that he could have received
came from the Prophet (pbuh), when he said: "The most knowledgeable of my
ummah in matters of Halal and haraam is Muadh ibn Jabal."

One of the greatest and prominent contributions of Muadhs to the ummah of prophet
(pbuh) was that he was among the group of six who collected the holy Quran during
the life time of the Prophet (pbuh). People respect Muadh because of his knowledge.
Once Messengers of the Yemens king came to him and announced that people of
Yemen and they had become Muslim, they requested that the need some teachers to
teach Islam properly to the people. For this special task Prophet (pbuh) commissioned
a group of knowledgeable, skilled and competent and made Muadh ibn Jabal their
ameer.
The Prophet (pbuh) died before Muadh returned back from Yemen. Muadh wept when
he returned to Madina and he found that there was no longer the blessed company of
the Prophet (pbuh). The Prophet (pbuh) instructed Muadh that do not try to be
dictator over them, but cooperate with the people because treating them in harsh way
would result division. This instruction was given to any companion whom Prophet
(pbuh) sent as promoter and teachers of Islam. The Prophet warned Muadh not to do
wrong strict and oppress anyone, even if they are non Muslims, because ALLAH
always responds to the supplication of oppress.
Muadh went to Palestine and there he fell ill with an infectious disease. As he was
almost near to death and the time came of him to meet ALLAH.
