Despite economic slow down in China, geopolitical tensions and attacks, economists remain positive for the growth of
the French economy
Manuel Valls commented last week that We have found our growth:
1,1% measured in 2015
1,5% prospected for 2016
Economists from OFCE (Observatoire Franais des
Conjonctures Economiques) mean that the main reasons
to the expected positive development of the economy is
due to:

Historically low interests rates

The depreciation of the euro should support export
Oil prices are still low (less than 35 dollars)
The construction sector is recovering

HOLLANDE & CDC: FOCUS ON SOCIAL HOUSING AND

ENERGY TRANSITION

Francois Hollande announced this Tuesday that he intends to devote substantial additional resources for;
Construction and of social housing
Energy transition
An additional 3 billion euros will be devoted to these two topics by 2017
50% -> provision of interest-free loans for social housing organizations
50% -> renovation of public buildings
Caisse des Dpts play a central role as funder and levers in these areas
One of the missions of the Caisse des Dpts is to finance environmental and energy transition
Their work and investments will hence be with a strong green profile
Hollande has also suggested renaming the group "Caisse des dpts et du dveloppement durable".

RECORD YEAR FOR FRENCH GAMBLING INDUSTRY

2015 was a year with record growth for the gambling industry in France
France Games (FDJ), which holds monopoly on gambling in France, released their balance sheet this Thursday
13,7 billion euros of revenues
5,4 % increase in 2015
The state, which owns 72% of the stakes earned 3,1 billion euros in 2015
The main reasons to the rise are:
Increasing online sales
Scratch-games which has made the largest progress with 10% increase of revenues
Paris Sportifs (betting on game results) increased revenues of 14%
despite few football events in 2015
