Emergency Department has a triage for sort incoming patients. Triage can be defined
as the prioritization of patient care based on the severity of injury / illness, prognosis, and
availability of resources, include pregnant mothers.
For those responsible for the triage of patients arriving in the emergency department,
the purpose of triage is to determine to which predestinated patient care area the patient
should be sent. The locations to which the patients are 'triaged' establish priorities for care.
In this hospital the triaging system is the 4 level system ; Priority I (Immediate),
Priority II (Delayed), Priority III (Minimal) and Priority 0 (Expectant / Dead)
Resuscitation Area
This area is dedicated to the immediate care of patients and victims in cardiac arrest,
airway, breathing and circulation compromise.it can be for adult and child. This hospital
'Resus' area consists of two beds with all resuscitative equipment (monitors, defibrillators,
airway, intubation & surgical equipment) including pediatric resuscitation kits.
A patient perhaps shifted to the Resus area from outside or from an area within the other
clinic or emergency department itself. All priority I patients are managed here.
Major Trauma
All priority II patients are managed here. This area will have dedicated EM physicians (along
with EM nursing staff) looking after the patients directed here. Majority of the ED admitted
patients are assessed and managed here.
Consultation Rooms
Since majority of the patients coming to Emergency Department does not have an emergent
problem, they are assessed and treated on outpatient basis in the consultation rooms. Beside it
the doctor will explain about something which patients need to know and how to get therapy.
Minor Procedure Room
Procedures like washing, dressing and suturing of wounds, reduction and splinting of
fractures and dislocations, and other minor surgical procedures are done here. When CSaccion patient come to check their wounds, she will be placed in this room.
Observation Units
Patients who need to be admitted and observed for less than 24 hours are placed here. Such
patients are those with non-cardiac chest pain, acute asthma, vague abdominal pain, minor
head injury, acute depression, febrile convulsions, dehydration, etc.
Injection Room
Injection room is dedicated for someone who need injection, such us vaccine injection,
immunization injection for babies, contraception injection, and etc. Sometimes when the
emergency department is full, the patient will be treated in Injection Room.
24 Hours Pharmacy
After patient treated in emergency room, some of them will not stay at hospital for long time
because their sickness is not too acute. So, the doctor will let them to go back to their house.
But, before they go back, the patients need to buy some medicine in pharmacy. Emergency
departments pharmacy will give service for 24 hours.
Restroom
In emergency department every restroom is for different group of people. There is two
patients restroom, one restroom for nurse or midwife and the other restroom is for doctor.
The divided different restroom to make sure patient who get infection will not infect the
medic worker and other wise.
Doctor and Nurse waiting room
Doctor, nurse and midwife need time to take a rest. They should rest in the Doctor and
Nursing waiting room.
In Aisyiyah Mother and Child hospital all patient who need to stay more than 24
hours in the hospital need to enter Emergency Department first and the doctor who helped by
nurse or midwife will make first medical record.
