Champions of Caring
We are HCR ManorCare. We treat our patients with compassion, patience
and understanding.
In three complimentary letters, the team
of employees at MC - Lansdale, Pa. was
recognized for exceeding the Circle of
Care.
In the first letter, a patients mother
thanked Annette Geary, Nurse Aide, for
providing care to her son. I have watched
how my son has come to trust and feel so
comfortable with Annette. To achieve
something this special is truly a sign of a
very caring and dedicated person. Words
cannot express, as the overprotective mom
I am, how much this means to me. All of

commitment to being Helpful, Caring and Responsive to patients and their families.
MC - Lansdale is lucky to have some great
people here! With that being said, my son and I would like to say thank you! Thank you, Annette, for being the caring person
that you are!
In the next letter, Nurse Aides Cheryl Werts and Antonio Mobley were recognized by a discharged patient. I saw Cheryl
consistently and routinely provide above-average care to those in her charge. She was professional, knowledgeable and
compassionate. She always addressed her patients in a respectful, yet friendly manner. Her words were always positive,
encouraging and comforting. My roommate and I both thought she was wonderful.
I would also like to commend Antonio, a young man who was kind, encouraging, capable, efficient, caring, professional and
positive. He was the first staff who got me to laugh, and I will always remember him for that.
The third letter, from the daughter of a deceased resident, wrote of her appreciation to staff for taking such good care of her
mother for more than nine years. During that time, she had many wonderful caregivers who really went above and beyond in
making her life a good one. These people are LPN Nurse Supervisors Kathy Kuscavage, Sue Fresh and Margy Antoine; Nurse
Aides Phyllis Scott and Josette Elmine; Sheila Vocht, Business Office Manager; and Dawn Mason, Activity Director. They are
truly champions of caring, and they are a real asset to your organization. They are representative of the high-quality of employees
at this location.
As a group, everyone displayed compassion, patience and understanding in delivering care to my mother. I am truly appreciative
of everything that was done on her behalf.

Patient Recovery Special Sundaes

We are HCR ManorCare. We find
ways to motivate our patients to speed
their recovery.

I am HCR ManorCare. I want to make

meals fun and interactive for patients and
staff.

MC - Washington Township employees Renee Rodio (on left) and

Cecelia Osmola were recognized by a discharged patient in a
complimentary letter for their patience, caring and skills.

In a letter to the Care Line, a discharged patient reflected on his

positive experience at MC - Washington Township, N.J.
When I arrived, I was unable to walk because of a six-week stay in
the hospital. I was not sure of what to expect because this was my
first time utilizing a rehabilitation facility. I was very much surprised
and happy with my experience at MC - Washington Township.
All of the personnel that I came in contact with from the cleaning
personnel, food service, nurses, therapists and doctors were very
courteous, friendly and patient. I want to single out two people
that attended to me that were very instrumental in my recovery.
They had the skills and experience that definitely guided me to my
recovery. They used an approach that not only made some difficult
tasks easier, they did it in a manner that provided encouragement for
me to work harder.
I looked forward to the time I would spend with them. I found it
to be enjoyable, and they definitely are the reason I am on my way
to full recovery. I want to thank them for their patience, their caring
and their skills in motivating me. The two therapists that I owe
my sincere thanks to are Cecelia Osmola, Occupational Therapy
Assistant, and Renee Rodio, Physical Therapist. The therapists
are the backbone of your facility, and Celia and Renee should be
commended and recognized for a job well done. Please pass on my
heartfelt thanks. They will always be with me.

Employee Will White dressed up as an ice cream man to deliver a

special treat to the patients at MC - West Des Moines, Iowa.

As a special treat for the patients at MC - West Des Moines, Iowa,

the food services team decorated one of their black carts as an ice
cream truck. We had Will White, Food Service Director, dress up
as an ice cream man and even had ice cream truck music playing as
he went down the halls, said Mari Mansker, Dietary Aide. The
patients and staff loved it!
Will said the idea came about after he planned to have ice cream
sundaes as dessert one day. I decided to make it fun and interactive
for the patients and staff. The patients were able to choose their
toppings to dress their sundaes. I asked for help with making the
sundaes from the administration staff. Everyone involved had an
enjoyable time.
Administrator Chaley Schultz says Will is a great example of a true
leader. He has built a solid dietary team because of his willingness to
support his team and lead them by example, and his true passion for
the kitchen shines through. He is a team player and is very creative,
possessing the ability to take something average and turn it into
something fantastic and memorable. We are privileged to have him
on our team.

In a complimentary call to the Care Line, the granddaughter of a
former patient said, I want to give a big, huge compliment to all of
the staff at HL - Canton, Mich. for the wonderful care provided to my
grandmother.
Specifically, she recognized the Recreational Therapy team. I feel the
Recreational Therapy staff made the most tremendous impact on my
grandmothers recovery. She did all of the activities that were offered.
Everyone was so kind, loving, giving and sharing and treated my
grandmother with complete dignity and compassion.
Lindsay Charlefour, Director of Therapeutic Recreation, said, I
couldnt be prouder of my team of recreational therapists. They exceed

True Compassion
We are HCR ManorCare. True compassion comes from the hearts of those who
genuinely enjoy caring for others.
In a complimentary letter, the granddaughter of a patient
thanked the team at MC - Willoughby, Ohio for the
compassionate care provided to our granny.
The decision to place a family member in a nursing/
rehabilitation facility is an incredibly difficult decision to
make. Our family struggled in making the decision to place
my grandmother; however, each step of the way your staff
made the decision less painful and educated us on the process.
Night one met us with many challenges as we struggled to
leave granny. But we were patiently reassured that she would
be in good hands and they would take care of our granny.
The granddaughter of a patient recognized the team
We tearfully left. Each day thereafter, we were welcomed by a
of employees at MC - Willoughby, Ohio for the
staff of caring, dedicated and professional physicians, nurses,

therapists, aides and housekeeping staff.
Everyone we encountered treated my grandmother with dignity and respected the wishes of our family. The staff listened, offered
constructive suggestions and exhibited great patience. Anyone can show up to do a job for a paycheck, but true compassion comes
from a heart of people who genuinely enjoy caring for others. We appreciated the quality of care provided by the MC - Willoughby
team.
Please extend our thanks to your staff for their caring approach to rehabilitation.

Words of Appreciation
HH - Beltsville, Md.
The team at HH - Beltsville, Md. served our father so very well
from the moment they arrived, and have continued to support
our entire family throughout his departure and beyond. I cant
begin to explain the value of this service. Each and every person,
from the social work team, to the visiting nurses, as well as those
who delivered, set up and took down health care equipment and
supplies to and from the house, the veterans ceremony members,
the home health aide referrals, the esteemed and understanding
chaplain. This group of uncommonly caring people is held in
very high regard in our hearts and minds. Thank you kindly
for everything!
