Christmas Tree Lighting

January/February

The 5th annual Christmas Tree Lighting took place Saturday, December 5, 2015. Santa rode
into town on the fire truck as part of the parade along with the
Southwestern Randolph High School Marching Cougars. Public
and private donations allowed Ruby Mullin and her elves to buy
enough toys so that all 240 children in attendance were able to
choose a gift. City Council Members and volunteers served coffee,
hot chocolate and cookies in the old Bank of Seagrove. Bobby and
Linda Loggins gave out cotton candy. If you havent attended one
of Seagroves Christmas Tree Lighting
celebrations, we hope you will
participate next year. Christmas spirit
abounds downtown during this celebration of giving and sharing.
Every city event requires time, money and volunteers.
Donations can be made all year long at First Bank in Seagrove,
under the account of Union Grove Baptist Church Christmas
Tree Fund. We would love to have your help and support next
year.
A special thank you to the following for making this
event possible:
Festival Sponsor Reverend Chaney and the Union Grove Baptist Church.
Dennette Lilly for organizing the parade.
Tom Hall and Linda Horne for donating the Christmas tree.
City Council members and volunteers for decorating the tree, filling candy bags and
buying toys with the donated money.
Seagrove Elementary School children for making the Christmas ornaments.
H & H Furniture Four Seasons Furniture Chief Express for putting up the
Christmas streetlights and their generous donation.
Gene King of Seagrove Pottery for providing the electricity for the tree lights.
Everyone else not mentioned that participated and attended.

NC Pottery Center Hosts Free

Senior Clay Classes
Since the 1700s clay has been an important part of Seagroves
history. Yet many of our citizens
have never had the pleasure of
working with clay. The North
Carolina Pottery Center has partnered with our community to
give Seagroves Senior Citizens an opportunity to get their hands
dirty. They will hold classes for three consecutive Tuesdays
starting January 26 from 5 to 7pm. Classes are free and will
include slab building and an introduction to wheel turning. Space
is limited to 10 seniors that will hopefully be able to attend all
three sessions. To sign up call the North Carolina Pottery Center
at 336-873-8430.
