Hope Appliances Ltd., is a small company which has 12 supervisors


reporting to different managers.

Working hours are 9. am to 5.pm

Mr. Sharma who is considered to be a tough guy, is a committed


supervisor. On one morning he noticed that two of his senior workers
were coming late by 15 minutes.
He circulated a memo among all the employees informing that all
employees should be punctual. The next day, he observed that all employees
were present at the work spot sharply by 9.am. He thought that his decision
seems to be effective
One afternoon, he called a few senior workers at about 4.30 PM and
was discussing the details of next weeks schedule. At 4.55 P.M the workers
stopped listening and gently reminded the supervisor that the days work is over
by 5.PM. Most of them left the premises and other workers in the spot left even
without completing their work in progress.
