YOUNG MARISSA Wait, Josh! Maybe it’s a trap. YOUNG JOSH Good thinking, Riss. You go first. What? YOUNG MARISSA Why do I go first?

INT. BACK ENTRANCEWAY - CONTINUOUS Marissa carefully makes her way around Josh and heads into the house. Josh follows. She leads him towards the stairs near the living area where a group of ADULTS are drinking tea and talking adult business. Marissa motions for Josh to take the lead back and he does. Suddenly the door opens again and the high heels step inside. Josh holds Marissa quiet again as they watch the shoes stand perfectly still. After what seems like an eternity, the heels turn and leave the room again, this time closing the door behind them. INT. Don’t suppose you’re gonna play outside like every other boy your age. Maybe try a sport now and again? JOSH I have to go to work. Work. JACK Right.
Jack shakes his head and just continues to read the paper. He’s obviously not happy with what his son has become. Josh takes a sip of his coke and lets out a refreshing AHHHHHHHHHHHH. JOSH Welp, nice pep talk, dad. usual. As

The knot’s like everything else, I just found the rope and I did it. Josh now does his best Matt Damon impression along with him.
JASON BOURNE/ JOSH The same way I can, I can read, I can write. I can add, subtract. I can make coffee. I can shuffle cards. I can set up a chessboard. Josh smiles but is interrupted by the DING of the door opening. He grabs the remote and pauses the movie as THREE TEENAGE BOYS and A GIRL enter the store. We’ll come to know the boys as BRENT, RICKY, and THAD. The girl on Brent’s arm we know already -- MARISSA ELLIOT -- all grown up and as beautiful as they come. My mom doesn’t care. THAD So we can get porn? Thad! What? MARISSA That’s gross. THAD
JOSH (to all) We don’t carry porn. I think there’s a pervert store a few blocks down though. MARISSA Oh, hey Josh. Hey Riss. JOSH
BRENT Well, at least we know where the doofus store is. Brent holds up his hand and Thad gives him a “high five”.
Brent approaches Josh and extends his hand as if to shake it. BRENT (CONT’D) What’s up, dude? I’m just messin’ with you. Josh, suspicious, shakes his hand. Brent pulls him in.
BRENT (CONT’D) (under his breath) You ever talk to my girl again, I’ll kick your teeth in. Got it? Josh nods as Brent pushes him back and joins his friends. BRENT (CONT’D) You know what? Let’s just go to blockbuster. This place only carries the stupid classics. I think my mom rents here. Marissa waves “goodbye” to Josh as Brent drags her out of the store. JOSH (loud, now that they’re gone) Yeah, your mom does rent here! And I banged her in the back last week! (sighs) Asshole. Josh turns to see AN OLD LADY peering from behind the classics section. She shakes her head. JOSH (CONT’D) Sorry, Mrs. Taylor. LATER Josh lays with his head on the counter as a DISNEY film plays in the background. JOSH! HENRY
