“ # 4. How did Jesus Qualify to be our Substitute ”

Ezekiel 18:20 (NASB) 20"The person who sins will die. The son will not bear the
punishment for the father's iniquity, nor will the father bear the punishment for the son's
iniquity; the righteousness of the righteous will be upon himself, and the wickedness of
the wicked will be upon himself.

Deuteronomy 24:16 (NASB) 16"Fathers shall not be put to death for their sons, nor shall

their habitation,

Romans 5:12, 18 (KJV) 12Wherefore, as by one man, sin entered into the world, and
death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Therefore as by the offence of one, judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even
so by the righteousness of one, the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

Romans 3:19 (KJV) 19Now we know that what things the law says, it says to them who
are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty
before God.

Romans 7:1,2 (NASB) 1Or do you not know, brethren (for I am speaking to those who
know the law), that the law has jurisdiction over a person as long as he lives? 2For the

dies, she is released from the law concerning the husband.

Romans 6:23 (NASB) 23For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal
life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ephesians 1:4, 10-11 (KJV) 4According as he hath chosen us in him before the
foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all
things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: 11In
whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose
of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will: (See also vs. 3-6)
2 Corinthians 5:14 (KJV) 14For the love of Christ constrains us; because we thus judge,
that if one died for all, then were all dead:

Hebrews 2:9 (KJV) 9But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for
the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that he by the grace of God should
taste death for every man.

1 Peter 2:24 (KJV) 24Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we,
being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV) 21For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that
we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Galatians 2:20 (KJV) 20I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but
Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son
of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Romans 5:18, 19 (KJV) 18Therefore as by the offence of one, judgment came upon all
men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one, the free gift came upon all
men unto justification of life. 19For as by one man's disobedience many were made
sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Read Ephesians 2:1-6

Read Romans 5:6-10

yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Colossians 1:21, 22, 28 (KJV) 21And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in
your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled 22In the body of his flesh through
death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: 28Whom we
preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present
every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
Colossians 3:3-4 (KJV) 3For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4When

Romans 8:15-17 (KJV) 15For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but
ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16The Spirit itself
bears witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17And if children, then
heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we
may be also glorified together.
