SUMMARY
The Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL) pesticide plant in Bhopal, Madhya

Pradesh, a partly-owned subsidiary of the US-based Union Carbide Corporation,
caused a gas leak incident and considered one of the highest-casualty industrial
accidents of the 20th century. It occurred on the night of 2-3 December 1984 where over
500,000 people were exposed to methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas mixed with unknown
other gasses. At least 2000 people died immediately and another 200,000 to 300,000
suffered respiratory and other injuries of varying severity. Property damage consisted
mainly of contamination to nearby areas by various chemical residues. The defoliation
of trees immediately afterward is clearly attributable to the gas leak; contamination in
the nearby settlements may have multiple sources, the contamination of the plant site
resulted from many years of general production activity.

VIEWPOINT
Safety of the workers should always be the top priority in any job they would work

on. Moreover, the company should take full responsibility in implementing the necessary
precautions and guidelines as well as the assurance of safety and functionality of the
equipment in the plant. If anything bad will happen, not only the company and the
workers would jeopardize but also the innocent people around.

All of this came to a sudden hen three colleagues in the Cardiac Research Laboratory in Harvard observed Darsee fabricating the records of data. afraid of what others will think.V. Identify the possible consequences when fabricating data. much time had been wasted. VIII. His area of research concerned the testing of heart drugs on dogs. afraid of what will be found out about us. CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK “We tell lies when we are afraid… afraid of what we don’t know. OBJECTIVES This case aims to: 1. Moreover. 2. Indiana University. the thing that we fear grows stronger. Motivate oneself to always do what is right. IX. 3. Emory University and Harvard University. his research fellowships would not be terminated and the offer of a faculty position in Harvard would not be withdrawn. The months of investigation also took others away from their main tasks and placed them under pressure. Determine the burden his actions might cause.” -Tad Williams VI. But every time we tell a lie. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM Dr. AREAS OF CONSIDERATIONS If only Darsee did not fabricate the data. VII.

There is no assurance that everything we do will turn out into what we want it to be. we just always need to do what is right. SUMMARY . Whatever happens. Don’t let a single mistake takes away everything you have. If it fails. it doesn’t mean that it is the end of everything. All we can do is to do our best with full honesty and accept the result whole heartedly. I. There’s also room for new chances.

You might not know how many people are relying in your studies. V. Stephen Breuning. Despite of Breuning’s admission of fabricating the data. Robert Sprague sent a letter to the National Institute of Mental Health documenting the fraudulent research of Dr.” -Oprah Winfrey VI. TIME CONTENT The Breuning Case is a long term study. Everything you do and say shows the world who you really are. CASE TITLE Fabricating Data: The Breuning Case III. CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK “Truth allows you to live with integrity. Sprague’s diabetic wife was reliable on research and medication.Dr. so you better not fabricated anything. IV. and the chain of consequences can be quite lengthy and serious. Bruening fabricated data concerning the effects psychotropic medication has on mentally retarded patients. VIEWPOINT Building one’s work on the incorrect or unsubstantiated data of others infects one’s own research. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM . Her death was one of the major factors prompting his whistle blowing to NIH. II. It is your responsibility to provide reliable data most especially when it comes to the health of the people. Sprague became the target of investigation. Let it be the Truth.

Too much self-confidence sometimes makes you do things you’re not supposed to.S House of Representatives. If there is something we are not sure about or anything that we do not know. Stephen Bruening fabricated data concerning the effects psychotropic medication has on mentally retarded patients. Sprague has nothing to be revealed and will not be investigated. SUMMARY . Sprague’s research endeavors will not be curtailed. Determine the consequences of his misconduct. VII. Don’t pretend that you know everything. Robert Sprague’s diabetic wife died and on reliable research and medication. others may also suffer. ALTERNATIVE COURSES OF ACTIONS Because of one’s misconduct. IX. AREAS OF CONSIDERATIONS If only Breuning did not fabricate the data. there are people we can talk to. he became the whistle blower of Breuning’s misconduct. Identify the importance of not having fraudulent research. he will not be subjected to threats of lawsuits.

Toxic chemicals should not be disposed improperly. II. If ever dump site had been exhausted. the Hooker Electrochemical Corporation bought the land for the need for toxic waste disposal. TIME CONTENT The Love Canal is a long term study. V. CONCEPTUAL FRAMEORK “There is hope if people will begin to awaken that spiritual part of them. If we are living in a dirty or toxic environment. it was abandoned. Three children suffered chemical burns from waste that had resurfaced at the former canal site. that heartfelt knowledge that we are caretakers of this planet. Later on. our health is jeopardized. it should be well demolished. VIEWPOINT Environment plays a role in our health. CASE TITLE Love Canal III. the local school board built an elementary school in the area. IV.” – Brooke Medicine Eagle . Having exhausted the canal’s potential as waste dump and the need to build a new school.Love canal was built to unify waterways into efficient shipping systems but due to financial problem. There is proper place for them.

AREAS OF CONSIDERATIONS If only the Hooker Electrochemical Corporation did not use the canal for chemical disposal. OBJECTIVES This case aims to: 1. VII. Moreover. VIII. Determine the possible effects of improper disposal of chemicals. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM The canal is supposed to be used to unify waterways and not as dumpsite for toxic chemicals. it requires good facilitation. What are we going to have in the future depends on what we do in the past. the extent of the effect of environmental pollution is obviously increasing. 2. IX.VI. ALTERNATIVE COURSES OF ACTIONS Degradation of the environment resulting from human activity is certainty not a phenomenon of recent origin. Encourage self-awareness in taking care of the environment. we can still save our planet. no one would be harmed. the school will be immediately built and the children will not suffer. It is not yet too late. If a site is to be used for waste disposal. Let us keep our environment healthy. if only the government and other public agency took action into this matter. However. .
