share his ideas about the origin of the Slovenian verbal aspects and
critically review the literature in this area

Grubor believes that perfective aspect should not be associated with

shortness and imperfective with duration.
His attitude is illustrated by the following quote ... name of permanent verbs
do not fit neither R nor S verb (imperfective verbs), because it is the name of
the time, and they have no time significance.
Imperfective and perfective verbs are intolerable. Together, they follow the
action from the beginning to the end. It's just not looking in the same direction, their
roles were exactly divided them. Imperfective verbs point of view is on
development, and the perfective verbal point turned his back and looking to the
finished part of the action.(Grubor 1953: 136)
Grubor in several places mentioned Aksionsart, by defining it as a way of
realization of actions. He notes that Aktionsart term does not match the
verb aspect, but also does not explicitly elaborated his meanings.
In Slavonic linguistics, the term 'aspect' is often used to refer to the
grammaticalisation of a semantic aspectual distinction, while 'Aktionsart' - to
the lexicalisation of a semantic aspectual distinction by means of derivational
morphology (Comrie 1976:7)
Aspect in the Serbian language includes couples of perfective and
imperfective verbs.
For a more precise determination of the meaning of these couples should establish
the difference between:
a) the development of the verb (R verbs)
b) the state verb ( S verbs)
R verbs imply that during the operations there are changes in the
subject or object.

S verbs indicate that someone / something in a particular situation has

certain characteristics, with any sort of change, or changes apply only to
the passage of time.
R-verbs Indicate the created entity or change, not time!
S-verbs Indicate time!

R perfective verbs show a full or enforceability of the entire operation or

a specific item.
S perfective verbs indicate the termination of the time course of
occurrence of a specified condition.
R imperfective verbs indicate development or performance of the action
in progress.
(It does not specify time or duration)
S imperfective verbs show the state in which someone / something is
Imperfective R verbs

-realization in a moving point

-leaving behind the completed part
-having in front the incomplete part

Imperfective S verbs

The unmoving point with the passing of time.

time axis

denote the completion of the moment in the verb situation-the beginning, the final
moment, etc
Imperfective verbs
denote an activity of unlimited duration
Imperfective verbs are not the sum of the incomplete points. They always
indicate the point being realized, disregarding the completed ones.
Perfective verbs do not denote a moment. It is the sum of all realized points,
manifestation of the totality.
