Changing Times for Savory Thymes

Walking in to the new home of Savory Thymes Personal Chef

Service is like walking into your mom's kitchen. The aromas
dancing around the room will make your stomach start to
rumble and your mouth start to water. There is food sizzling
on the stove, baking in the oven, and cooling on the counter.
At the center of all the activity is Chef Ruth L'Hommedieu.
She is doing what she does best...cooking. However, the
notion that Ruth is simply cooking doesn't come close to
what's really going on in her kitchen. Ruth is reinventing her
business.

Just a few months ago Ruth was in search of a new

commercial kitchen to accommodate her plans to grow her
business. With help from a few fellow GBA members Ruth
was introduced to Rev. Douglas G.J. Van Veldhuisen, pastor
Chef Ruth preparing a delicious dish in her kitchen! of the First Congregational Church of Cromwell. When they
met Ruth could tell that she found the space she was looking for. As for the church members and Pastor
Doug, the feeling is mutual. “We love having her here,” he says as he walks through the kitchen.

This new space brings a more efficient and better working environment for Ruth. She is taking advantage
of the bigger counter space and prep areas to increase
the number of meals she prepares each day. In addition,
Ruth has also brought on Terri to help her in the kitchen.
Terri helps with preparation, cleaning, and packaging.

With her new space and new staff in place Ruth is now
ready to launch the next stage of Savory Thymes—
weekly delivery service. For the last several years Savory
Thymes has solely provided personal chef services to
their clients. This service provides a number of dishes
personally designed and prepared for the individual
client. These dishes are created with the inidividual's
likes and dislikes in mind and are packaged to easily be
warmed up and enjoyed.

However, there was something that Ruth kept hearing Just some of the delicious fare that Savory

Very often Ruth would get requests to provide a list of pre-determined entrees and sides to pick from and
have delivered. Unfortuatnely Savory Thymes' service was not designed for this. Hearing these requests
got Ruth thinking about the viability of this type of service as an addition to her business. After a lot of
research she's finally ready to launch her new
service!

At the end of November or early December

Savory Thymes' new website
(www.savorythymespcs.com) will be launched
and she will begin accepting orders for her new
weekly delivery service.

“This is the perfect option for people who don't

want the commitment of the personal chef
service.” Ruth explains, “Every Tuesday a new
menu will be posted on the website. Orders will
be due by Friday and delivered to either the
home or office on Monday. We will deliver Terri (l) and Ruth (r) working hard in Savory Thymes' new kitchen.
from Middletown to Wethersfield.”
The weekly delivery menu will feature 3 entrees and 4 sides and these will change each week. Baked
ziti and soup will also be available, along with Ruth's famous trail mix cookies! In addition, orders can be
placed on the website for gift certificates.

Whether it's a personalized dish or a pre-selected entree, Ruth's flair for creating comfort food with a
touch of sophistication is sure to come through. Her extensive travels throughout the United States and
overseas help her to add a myriad of non-traditional spices and flavors to any traditional dish that will
“awaken your senses!” says Ruth.

Ruth is sure to be busy settling in to her new kitchen, putting the finishing touches on her new website,
and preparing to launch her new weekly delivery service. Without a doubt she will succeed with the
support of the church members and Pastor Doug at The First Congregational Church in Cromwell and
the members of Green Barter Associates.

● Increased activity & unusual commotion in the home may upset your pet’s routine
and some pets handle increased activity better than others. If your pet is not
handling it well, try putting the pet in a quiet area in the home while maintaining
their usual exercise and eating routine.

Make sure your pets are wearing their identification on their collars in case they
slip out the door during the hectic holiday season.

Foods that may harm your pets are chocolate which contains theobromine, raisins,
grapes, onions and seasonings like sage, which contains essential oils that may
upset a cat or dog’s digestive system.
●
While it is okay to give your pet a little turkey, try to avoid the fatty parts and
skin which may upset a pet’s digestive system. Poultry bones are dangerous
because they are hollow and they splinter and break easily, and may cause damage
to your pet.
●
Try offering your dog a Kong stuffed with their food with a little turkey, gravy
and vegetables, while you are eating.
