ABSTRACT

QUALITY OF WORK LIFE (QWL) is defined as the extent to which an


employee is satisfied with personal and working needs through participating in the
workplace while achieving the goals of the organization. QWL has been found to
influence the commitment and productivity of employees in industries. However,
reliable information on the QWL of primary pharmaceutical industries is limited.
The purpose of this study was to assess the QWL among employees in
pharmaceutical industries.
The project gives an introduction to the concept of quality of work life. Its
concept, definitions and various methods and problems faced by the managers. It
gives a complete study of the requirement of QWL in the organizations.
Findings suggested that the respondents were more or less satisfied with their
work life. The major influencing factors were Work culture, career development,
performance appraisal, individual initiative, physical conditions, rewards and
recognition, team work and cooperation, supervisors support, training programs
and training methods, benefits for the employees in the organization.

I express my gratitude to AUROBINDO PHARMA for giving me an


opportunity to carry out a project work on QUALITY OF WORKLIFE. I am
grateful to Mr.Srinivasand Ms.Shailajafor their kind gesture of supporting this
project. I express my sincere thanks to the entire department of H.R. and the entire
staff of the AurobindoPharma for their constant support and guidance.
I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Prof.B.T.Seetha, Principal, of
Osmania University College for Women.I am grateful to my project guide Ms.D.
Mayuri who inspired me to take up this project and gave me valuable insights into
the subject under study. I also acknowledge the continuous support of
