Hello; Thank you for your interest in the 2010 Mr. & Miss Gay Pride Buffalo Pageant. The purpose of this pageant is to give members of the Gay Community of Buffalo, an opportunity to represent the community. This pageant is open to male performers as well as female and male impersonators. This pageant is in its official second year. We bring this pageant to the community in order to choose both a Mr. & Miss that will represent the community as a whole for the next year. This pageant is slightly different from the rest as once selected into a title you will not only represent the community, but as our motto says "Give to the community that gives to you". It will be your responsibility as Mr. or Miss. Gay Pride Buffalo to help out the Gay Community of the area. The Mr. & Miss Gay Pride Buffalo Pageant will take place June 4, 2010 (Pride Weekend) at Marcella Showclub & Lounge (622 Main Street – Buffalo, New York 14203 – (716) 847-6850), at 8:00 pm sharp. Enclosed in this packet you will find all of the necessary information that will assist you in this years contest. Please read this packet thoroughly. • You must be at least 18 years of age by the date of the contest. (Valid proof must be supplied at the 1:00 pm registration.) If you win the contest, and are under 21 and for any reason get caught drinking, you must automatically forfeit any cash and prizes that you have received within seven (7) days of notification by the pageant owner(s). The pageant is open to legal residents of Buffalo/WNY and the surrounding areas. (Valid proof must be supplied at the 1:00* pm registration.) * = Registration will follow immediately after the raising of the Pride Flag Ceremony in front of Buffalo City Hall – more information will be available at later date) The contestant entry fee is $60.00 USD (cash non-refundable funds) which is due at the 1:00 pm registration. NO EXCEPTIONS!! Contestants are allowed one (1) assistant in the dressing area. Any performer of Marcella Showclub, competing in the pageant is not allowed assistance of any sort, from their dressing room after 6:45 pm check in. Contestants must pay a $5.00 USD cash non-refundable admission for each dancer. This is effective even if the dancer is employed at Marcella Showclub & Lounge. All dancers’ full names and $5.00 admissions will be collected at the 1:00 pm registration. NO EXCEPTIONS!! Dancers will be allowed to come into the dressing area immediately following your Formal Wear/Evening Gown Portion of the pageant. Any dancer not paid for at time of registration will be full door cover price of $15. This pageant is open to all male performers, female impersonators, & male impersonators. Hormone or Surgery enhanced contestants are permitted to enter this pageant. Sean Bulger and/or Scott Giovino in association with Marcella Showclub & Lounge have the sole right to accept and/or reject the acceptance of any contestants. No questions asked! ................................................................................................................................. All concerns which arise in regards to any portion of the pageant will be the decision of the pageant owners. All decisions are final.
There will be seven (7) judges.
Olympic Style Scoring will be used, with the highest and lowest score in each category will be dropped. ** In the event of a tie, the contestant with the highest Talent score will break the tie.

Self Expression Colored Walk-On – Contestants will come out as rehearsed at registration. Contestants are to choose one of the 6 colors from the Gay Pride Spectrum. This color (or shades there of) must be shown in their walk-on attire. The contestant will then introduce themselves to the judges & audience using 2-3 sentences about themselves and what their color means to them. Even though this category is non-judged; this will be your first impression to the judges and audience. Creative Pride Wear - There is where your creativity comes alive. Each contestant must show their pride. You need to provide your creativity into an outfit that can be worn out to a night at the club or just to attend the upcoming Pride Weekend festivities. Each Pride Wear outfit must display all 6 colors of the Gay Pride Spectrum. A written description of your Pride Wear must be submitted at the 6:45 pm check-in. Be sure the description includes all details of your Pride Wear and where you plan to sport your new “wear”. **Personalized music is optional for this category if you so wish to do so, it must be on a separate, clearly labeled, high quality CD separate from your Talent Music. Personalized music will not directly affect score, but it may help understand your Pride Wear. Talent - This is where it matters! Everybody has their own talent. This is your opportunity to show it off. There is a seven (7) minute limit for this category, which includes set up/take down of any props. Talent music must be on a high quality CD that is clean and labeled with your stage name and track number in permanent marker. The use of water or any liquids, fire, glitter or anything that is deemed harmful to any contestant/participant is prohibited.
Contestants must bring a clearly typed or neatly printed description for Creative Pride Wear and Formal Wear /Evening Gown. Please be sure all descriptions are on the one sheet of letter size paper, written legibly or preferably typed on a computer using a large enough font for our Emcee's to read. Please be sure to have a back up talent CD and 2nd copy of descriptions. All descriptions will be read "as is" by the emcee. So be creative! ***Descriptions and talent music will be collected at the 1:00 pm registration. (No exceptions) Order of contestants will be chosen at 1:00pm registration.
Mr. & Miss Gay Pride Buffalo 2009
• Conduct yourself in a professional and respectful manner at all times, especially when representing the title of “Mr. or Miss Gay Pride Buffalo" Mr. & Miss Gay Pride Buffalo are required to appear at/participate in the Buffalo Gay Pride Parade (Sunday June 6, 2010). Float to be provided. Both winners will also be performing Pride weekend. (further information will be available at later date). Each will produce two (2) individual fund raisers in Buffalo, New York. One fund raiser will take place within 90 days of being crowned and one within the last 90 days of your reign. A third benefit will be produced together by both the Mr. and Miss title holders. All proceeds will benefit Buffalo not for profit organizations. (Proof of donation is required via photocopy of money order written out to the charity no later than 14 days of event.) A small portion of the proceeds of each benefit will also go to a non for profit organization to be determined by the pageant owners. This requirement will be strictly enforced. If for any reason that this requirement is not adhered to you must automatically forfeit any cash and prizes that you have received within seven (7) days of notification by the pageant owner(s). Each will be required minimum ten (10) hours of service in the Gay Community of Buffalo during your reign. (ex: Attending a meeting at one of many related organizations, or volunteering at GLYS, ACS, Pride Buffalo or Pride Center) Planned services will need approval by the organization and the pageant owner(s). Proof of completed services will need to be turned into pageant owners. Appear at & produce minimum two (2) performances at “Mr. & Miss Gay Pride Buffalo 2011” Pageant. To be supportive of community events such as, but not limited to fund raisers and pageants.

All contestants are to report to the contest promoter in the downstairs dressing area at Marcella Showclub & Lounge. All contestants should already have their make up on and be ready to begin the pageant. There will be a 1 point deduction per judge from your total score for every minute late.

Please be reminded that time is of the essence. The day and evening will go very fast. It is very important to make sure that you are on time for everything.

Further, I release myself from all rights to any video taping, photography, sound recording, still cameras, or motion pictures of this pageant. I understand I have no right to any of the recording (sound or video) that I may appear in or future sales thereof. I understand the winner agrees to represent the title as required.
