A Process for Transition to Sustainability : Implementation

RESUME :
The overall project has comprised three action research cycles, the first of which was
the planning cycle which established the importance of building a community of practice
with a learning stance for sustainability transition
The second action cycle which was the first implementation phase, is the subject of
this report. In fact, these ongoing discussions around sustainability and the notion of a
sustainable future formed the heart of this action cycle. However there were constraints
associated with the subject of dialogue. These included problems of site communication, the
maintenance of effective networks and issues around power and authorisation.
Specifically, the goals of the research described here have been to:
Plan the reorientation of the faculty to sustainability in terms of the content (curriculum)
and processes of teaching and learning;
Use Action Research as a methodology to achieve the necessary ongoing learning and to
frame the reports on the project findings; and
Begin building the social sustainability framework.
We observed that each of these elements could work together in ways that enrich
and/or obstruct a transition to sustainability. Finally, we found that lack of time hinders
participation in sustainability transition projects because of its effect on authentic dialogue,
thereby impacting upon the development of collaborative ways of working within the
university.
This paper describes the methodology and findings for the second action cycle of a
project that has been designed to research the process used for the transition of curriculum,
teaching and learning to sustainability at a small, regional university campus.
In this way, learning and change has been facilitated through reflection on practice
with learning as the main intention.

Secara keseluruhan proyek itu terdiri tiga siklus penelitian tindakan, yang pertama
adalah siklus perencanaan yang didirikan pentingnya membangun komunitas praktek dengan
sikap belajar untuk transisi keberlanjutan Siklus tindakan II yang merupakan tahap
implementasi pertama, adalah subyek laporan ini. Bahkan, rute-diskusi yang sedang
berlangsung di sekitar keberlanjutan dan gagasan tentang masa depan yang berkelanjutan
membentuk jantung siklus tindakan ini. Namun ada kendala yang terkait dengan subjek

dialog. Ini termasuk masalah komunikasi situs, pemeliharaan jaringan dan isu-isu seputar
kekuasaan dan wewenang yang efektif.
Secara khusus, tujuan dari penelitian yang diuraikan di sini adalah :
Rencanakan reorientasi fakultas untuk keberlanjutan dalam hal isi (kurikulum) dan proses
belajar mengajar;
Gunakan Penelitian Tindakan sebagai metodologi untuk mencapai pembelajaran yang
sedang berlangsung yang diperlukan dan untuk membingkai laporan tentang temuan proyek;
dan
Mulailah membangun kerangka sosial keberlanjutan.
Kami mengamati bahwa masing-masing elemen dapat bekerja sama dengan cara yang
memperkaya dan / atau menghalangi transisi menuju keberlanjutan. Akhirnya, kami
menemukan bahwa kurangnya waktu menghalangi partisipasi dalam proyek-proyek transisi
keberlanjutan karena efeknya pada dialog otentik, sehingga berdampak pada pengembangan
cara kolaboratif bekerja di lingkungan universitas.
Makalah ini menjelaskan metodologi dan temuan untuk siklus tindakan kedua dari
proyek yang telah dirancang untuk meneliti proses yang digunakan untuk transisi kurikulum,
pengajaran dan pembelajaran untuk keberlanjutan di kecil, kampus universitas regional.
Dengan cara ini, pembelajaran dan perubahan telah difasilitasi melalui refleksi pada
praktek dengan belajar sebagai tujuan utama.
