This document is an attempt to begin to document cancer clusters and other illnesses

around mobile phone masts. The people living there have reported all the illnesses around
these masts. No one has been searching for illness or going from door to door (except for
a group who live in the West Midlands who have done some of their own research). It is
quite possible that if research were done a lot more cancers and illnesses might emerge.

It is not easy to locate a cancer cluster for these reasons:

1 People often don’t want to talk about cancer.
2 If cancer clusters are emerging, neighbours become fearful for their own and their
families’ health. They often try to stop publicity so that they can sell their house
and get out of the area
3 Publicity about cancer clusters can lower house prices. Sometimes it is impossible
to sell the houses at any price.
TOWN NEAR EXETER

There are 4 cancers of which 3 are leukaemias and 1 stomach cancer all in direct line,
and within 300 metres of an Orange mobile phone mast, which was erected in 1996. The
beam of greatest intensity goes through these 4 houses before it reaches the town.

u FEMALE - Orange Mast erected in 1996 when she was in the womb. In 1999
aged 3 she was diagnosed with Leukaemia. (91 metres from the mast. The beam
of greatest intensity goes directly through her bedroom)
v MALE - Diagnosed with Leukaemia in 1998; died in 1999 aged 51. (130 metres
from the mast)
w RETIRED PERSON - Stomach Cancer. No further information. (200 metres
from the mast)
x MALE - Diagnosed with Leukaemia in Feb 2002, aged 56. (300 metres from
the mast)

(COM reading 6.5 v/m in bedroom, kitchen and some other points in the home of u)
NORTH-EAST LONDON

5 Cancers:- 3 Breast Cancers, 1 Thyroid, and 1 Bowel Cancer. The Masts are Orange
and T-Mobile. (Caretaker says roof is giving way!) After publicity some have
mysteriously disappeared. 5 adults, (all within 200 metres of a building with 16 masts on
it), have developed cancer in the last 6 years.
The house next to the mast has no one with cancer in it, (there is less radiation
immediately underneath a mast). However the tenant is leaving because he is frightened
of getting cancer. The next four houses, which all have someone with cancer in, are all in
a row next to this one. The fifth is one removed. v says that the only people who have
not got cancer in this row of houses are people who have not lived there long, or tenants.
This road is in northeast London in Iain Duncan Smith's constituency. Iain Duncan
Smith has visited everyone in the road that has cancer. He visited u before she died.
There are other intersecting masts nearby.
u FEMALE - Died of breast cancer and secondaries March/April 2002. Other
symptoms were broken sleep and extremely dry skin. Her husband says “she used
to have to put bottles of cream on her skin, and she used to get such severe
electric shocks that she had to use a cloth to open the car door”. She was in her
50's. (Lived about 60 metres from the masts)
v FEMALE - Breast cancer. Pricking sensations. She has lived here for 30 years;
for all this time she was perfectly healthy. She is in her 80’s. (Lives about 90
metres from the masts)
w FEMALE - Breast cancer. Not sleeping, always tired, rash, persistent
headaches. Dry skin. Pricking sensations. 51 year old teacher. Her husband has
a long-term rash. 1 cat, 1 dog and 2 rats died of cancer. Some plants won’t grow.
(Lives about 120 metres form the masts)
x FEMALE - Diagnosed with Thyroid cancer in 1998 aged 48. Nursery school
teacher. In remission. (Lives about 150 metres from the masts)
y MALE - Diagnosed with Bowel cancer in 1997 aged 68. (Lives about 200
metres from the masts)

A German MALE (Aged 52) lives next to the building with the masts on. This may
shield him. He is renting, however he is so worried that he is planning to move.
TOWN IN LINCOLNSHIRE

In May 2001, The Daily Mail reported ten people with Cancer. (Numbered u to ut
below). Four of these people had died of Cancer, and there were six other cases within a
200-yard radius of an Orange mast installed 1995 on a 45ft- high water tower with six
antennae and two microwave dishes.
Where the beam hits the houses with the greatest intensity (using COM and AcoustiCOM
meters) there were four cancers in three houses (uvw & x). These houses are all next
door to each other. House z is just behind house u in line with house y which is just in
front of house u, and a couple of houses behind house z is house |.
A local councillor knows of four more people with Cancer and of a person in the house
next to the mast four metres away who is being investigated for Leukaemia. A further
anntaenae has been added in. Now there are many many more.
It is of note that there are two other masts, both almost directly in line and both north of
this one. A temporary TETRA mast, and a mast on an industrial estate nearby.

u FEMALE - Diagnosed with Breast Cancer and secondaries in May 2000. Died
in December 2002, aged 67. She lived in this house for 41 yrs and had never been

metres from the mast, next door to u)
w&x HUSBAND & WIFE – He was diagnosed with tumours in upper arm and
kidneys in October 1998. He died in November 1998 in his 70’s. In 1997 his
wife was diagnosed with Skin Cancer. (They lived opposite and about 120
metres away from the mast, next door to v)
y FEMALE – She was diagnosed with Cancer (Carcinomatosis) in 1998 and died
from it in 1999, aged 87. (Lived on the opposite side of road to uvw&x above,

AcoustiCOM that whole house was immersed in radiation). (These girls are now
too frightened to live here they are camping on a mattress above a shop)
vv FEMALE - Aged 41, Rash over face and arms, especially around the eyes.
Itchy skin to the point of scratching till it bled. Had severe pains in abdomen
She was 8 months pregnant when she moved into this house. Her baby
screamed, and held it’s head in its cot 15/20 times a night. It also cried in the
day as well. Her 3 year old also became very aggressive. This lady moved out,
she was so desperate to get away that she didn’t stay out her notice. A year later
the baby has stopped screaming and it sleeps through the night, and the other
child no longer aggressive. (COM Readings 2.5V/m in front of the house.) (Lived
behind ut 100-150 metres from the mast)
vw FEMALE – Then aged 19 used to occupy a bedroom that was irradiated. She
became lethargic/withdrawn, retiring to her room constantly. Since moving she
is now a changed person has developed a personality and is full of life.

health has also improved. He has also been able to consume alcohol without
getting ill (a symptom of candida). He had been exposed to the mast for years. In
his garden he had guinea pigs and rabbits that had developed tumours. (The
animals were in fields of 2.5V/m and recordings of 2.5V/m were measured in
lower room in house. His GP welcomed his moving away from the mast) (Was
living in same road as } & ut)

been so lethargic that she has been off work for 10 weeks (up to Jan 2004). Her
Doctor is unable to explain this problem. She reports electric shock/tingling in
her brain on awakening each morning. Emissions found above her bedhead
(which was previously clear). This is attributed to the update at the mast base
station. (The COM meter shows 2V/m downstairs and 2.5 V/m in the study
where she works 2 hours each day). She has a friend who teaches at the same
irradiated school who has very bad headaches.

LEEDS 1. COOKRIDGE

The ward has two huge masts positioned in close proximity to one another. They were put up in
the 1970’s and have been growing ever since, they now carry the antennae of numerous mobile
phone companies. Since 1989 more women in Cookridge have contracted breast cancer and other
tumours than in any other area of Leeds.

Tumour cases: Leeds average: 160

Cookridge 1991-3: 215 (increase of 34% approx)
1994-5: 225 (increase of 35% approx)

Breast Cancer: Leeds average: 33

Cookridge 1991-3: 55 (increase 75% approx)
1994-6: 43 (increase of 32%approx)

Residents report that these figures attracted a lot of media attention, until in 1999 an investigation
by Dr MD Hawkings and Dr G Wardman standardised these figures by age in order to reach the
conclusion that incidence rates in Cookridge were only slightly above the overall Leeds rate. This
has been seen as a coverup.

LEEDS 2

MALE & FEMALE - 16 metre Vodaphone mast 20 metres away from house.
This couple fought for 4 1/2 years to get mast removed. At first only concerned about house
prices. Estate agent said they would lose third value of house and would be lucky to find a buyer.

RESIDENTS PROTEST OVER PHONE MAST

Residents living in a village near Leeds are battling to stop a mobile phone mast being built, after
four local people developed brain tumours. Scientists have not discovered a firm link between
Mobile masts and cancer, but residents in Bardsey are determined to stop what they see
as an increased risk. Protestors temporarily stopped erection of the new mast last week
(April 2004) when they blocked the entrance to a work access track. T-mobile, which
does not have any other masts in the area, is meeting Leeds City Council on Thursday to
press its claims for it to be built. Health worries. The company say the protests were in
response to a planning permission mix-up.
But the organizer told the BBC it was the possible health risks that worried local
residents. "In terms of possible health risks of mobile phones, we may be where we were
in the 1950s with regard to cigarette smoking. For 200 years that was thought to be safe,"
he said. A female resident, who has a seven-centimeter brain tumour, does not want
another mast. She told the BBC: "They haven't done enough research to prove the link
one way or another. Confidence in safety "In the village at the moment I know four
people who have had brain tumours including myself. "It all seems to be very localized,
which does concern me.” T-mobile spokeswoman Jill Kerr told BBC News Online that
they understood villagers' concerns, but said mobile masts were not harmful. "We work
within strict guidelines recognized by the World Health Organization that are designed
to protect the public,” she said. “So we are confident they are safe”.

TOLWORTH SURREY

1. FEMALE - aged 49. Brain haemorrhage. House sandwiched between mobile phone
masts on top of the local hospital and an office block. Son says she was in good health all
her life until one or two days before she died when she complained of headaches.
2. FEMALE - aged 54. Brain haemorrhage Careworker. Also had good health most of
her life. Both suffered identical haemorrhages just five weeks apart. (Female 2 died first)
Husband who is electrician, gets a lot of shocks.

Lady no 3 stated that without enquiring or looking she knew of other illnesses near this mast.
A lot of these are next door to each other or along the line of the microwave beams. This
lady campaigned to stop more masts going up. Her house is right under the mast, which
probably shelters it. I got no microwave measurement on the Com. Meter. However, the
AcoustiCOM picks up a lot more.

3. FEMALE -. An undiagnosable itchy skin rash and her white blood cell count is
down. She gets electric shocks easily, as does her husband. He has had nosebleeds.
4. Two of Female 3’s children have allergies.
5. MALE - aged 18 has found a lump in his testicles, which is being checked (23.9.2002).
6. Other son has such major infections in his mouth that he may lose teeth.
7. MALE - The next-door neighbour, aged 49, has throat cancer.
8. FEMALE – Previous male’s wife, aged 50, has skin cancer. (they are having a lot of
marital problems).
9. Their daughter has a long-term rash, Her parents fear she’s got glandular fever.
(23.9.2002)
10. YOUNG MALE - has a defective immune system and a low white blood cell count.
Lives next door to Female 3.
11. YOUNG FEMALE - Lives opposite this neighbour has had two miscarriages at 6
months.
12. FEMALE - aged 55, has breast cancer. Lives opposite previous female.
13. FEMALE - aged 67, has breast cancer. Lives opposite same previous female.
14. FEMALE - opposite has a son aged 3 with brittle bone disease.
15. The occupant of the next house to this died of bowel cancer.
16. Next-door, a 67- yr- old continually having tests. Something very wrong – don’t know
what.
17. FEMALE - Directly in line with the mast aged 35. Cancer of the womb. Has had a
hysterectomy.
18. MALE - Her father has had a stroke and tries to adjust the shower thinking it is the
radio.
19. FEMALE - Her mother is under investigation, highly confidential, fears bowel cancer.
20. In the next-but-one house also directly in line with the mast is another stroke victim.
21. MALE - very young man, has non- Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
22. FEMALE - next-door neighbour to 4, has had persistent throat problems for 3 years.
Her doctor is impatient with her and can’t understand it.

Armed with the AccoustiCOM A contact has traced a trail of illnesses in a beam that goes
through several houses – some of the people who are ill are not on this list. We need to do more
work.
One resident said “We are all living in fear as to who is the next to go”.

(There is also a third mast in the vicinity of Jubilee Way, an industrial estate).

Source: Sunday Mirror 23rd April 2000 Gerard Couzens . The article quoted Alasdair Philips:
“These deaths must be investigated… The microwaves break down the blood/brain barrier that
keeps out noxious substances. A powerful mast could lead to haemorrhaging."

Vicky Harris a lib dem councillor has taken an interest. She knew there was a cluster. She wants
to be involved if we/scientists go back to measure. The Health Service are thinking of not
renewing any masts on their property. The problem is that there is still 7 years remaining on their
lease (23.9.2002).

STOKE ON TRENT

Cluster of 4 BRAIN HAEMORRHAGES. Of these four, the three in the newspaper article
were next-door neighbours. The other one was about 10 houses further away. All died. Of
the three who were neighbours: one died in 1998 and two in April 2000.
These four people all lived in houses opposite the beam, all within 80-100 metres of a 25-meter
mast with 6 antennae and 5 dishes on it. This mast has been up since 1993.
1. FEMALE - Brain haemorrhage Died April 2000
2. FEMALE - Brain haemorrhage Died April 2000 (within 2 days of previous female).
3. FEMALE - Brain haemorrhage
4. Brain haemorrhage

Other illnesses near the mast are:

5. FEMALE - had had childhood epilepsy and become a lot better. Since the mast went up
she has had very severe epilepsy and sleepless nights.
6. TWO DOGS - developed and died of epilepsy.
7. One person with a heart monitor who walked past a mast and collapsed was in
hospital for 3 days.

Additionally a cluster of at least five people close together with high blood pressure.

This mast is growing all the time. There is permission to add 3 rd-generation services and a
TETRA and a mini node (central collation point).

BLANDFORD CAMP DORSET

FEMALE - survived a brain haemorrhage. The office that she worked in for 2 years was 200
yards away from a powerful communications tower, which emitted high-powered signals day and
night. This female recovered but her health has never been the same since. On her return to work
she was privy to highly classified correspondence within the ministry of defence where concerns
were raised over the number of brain haemorrhages and cancers within army personnel
and families in the Northern Ireland “behind the wire” army compounds. The concern was
that perhaps these were caused by the surveillance masts.
This lady has commented that two friends, who used to work with her at Blandford, although
only in their early 50’s, are now dead. (They both worked in front of the mast for 10 years) One
of lung cancer though she never smoked, one of a heart attack.

NORWICH
In the last 6 years The Norwich Eastern Evening News reports at least 8 people have been
diagnosed with cancer in Furze Road. It lists 7. Furze road is a road in which elderly people tend
to live. It is several hundred metres away from a 120- foot mobile phone in St Williams Way.
Orange, BTCellnet/002 and One2One/Tphone are all on it.
1. FEMALE - aged 75, moved into the street in 1998; has cancer of small intestine.
(Newspaper says she had it a few months after moving there – this is not long.)
AcoustiCOM shows beams from masts driving into her bedroom like a skewer.
2. FEMALE - aged 83, next door, has lived in the street since 1945 and battled with cancer
for 6 years. Had a tumour in her face, now bowel cancer and another tumour below
her eyes.
3. FEMALE - Cancer of lymph glands.
4. MALE - Diagnosed with throat and sinus cancer 5 years ago.
5. Another cancer victim did not want to give any details .
6. Sixth is dead.
7. MALE - Lived in Furze Rd for more than forty years. Died from lung cancer in 1999.
8. The paper reports eight – however unable to find details of eighth victim

Dr Ian Gibson, cancer specialist and M.P. for Norwich North said “Since their illnesses are
different it is hard to link them with the mast but further research should be carried out”. He is to
discuss the possibility of further research with former colleagues at UEA. ”

EXETER PENNSYLVANIA
Informant who is a MALE was diagnosed with non Hodgkin’s lymphoma 9 years ago. He
believes that the transmitter at Marypole Head which was put up in 1981 which is less than 200
metres from his house is responsible for his cancer, and has affected as many as 13 other
residents, a lot of them in a line about 50 metres wide in direct line north from the mast . (In
High Duryard, Argyll Road and Belvedere Road). Nine of these have died. Other residents have
cancers such as lung cancer, stomach cancer and leukaemia.

MIDLANDS

28 people living in the shadow of a mast that was erected 8 years ago have developed
symptoms/illnesses in the last 18 months. 5 have developed breast cancer though there is no
history of breast cancer in their families.
(This bit is not updated yet)Out of these 15 are living/working within about 100 metres of the
mast, 1 within about 500-800 metres. It seems that these are pretty much in a line with the
mast. There are also four radio masts nearby.

1 FEMALE - Breast cancer, diagnosed Dec 2001. In Nov 2001 developed rash which
lasted 3 weeks controlled with heavy dose of steroids. 102 metres from mast. Aged 38.
2 FEMALE - Breast cancer, diagnosed Jan 2002. Living 180 metres from mast. Aged 49.
3 FEMALE - Breast cancer, new diagnosis, operation July 2002, living 110 metres from
mast. Aged in her 50s.
4. FEMALE - Breast cancer diagnosed May 2001 living Approx 200 metres from mast.
Aged in her 50s.
5. FEMALE - Breast cancer diagnosed May 2001. Living Approximately 500 metres from
mast. Aged 44.
6. FEMALE – Benign lump in breast. 180 meters from mast, next door to Female 2’s
house.

Three of these 5 people suffered with low white blood cell counts from the onset of
chemotherapy. In order to regain normal white blood cell counts they have had to take
nutrophen. Female 1 says that on 2 occasions when she left the area for a week at a time she
regained her normal white blood cell count without intervention. Female 2 went away recently
(August 2002) and experienced the same thing. Up to this point she was struggling through
treatment and experiencing delays of up to six weeks at a time in between chemotherapy in order
to regain a normal white- cell count with the assistance of nutrophen injections.

More recently August/October 2 people who had low nutrophils have moved bedrooms, from
bedrooms that were being badly affected by the masts using the acoustiCOM to bedrooms that
were not, according to the AcoustiCOM, affected. Female 19’s neutrophils then shot up from 0 to
3.0 and Female 2’s neutrophils shot up to 1.0 and steadily increased.

7. FEMALE - 25 2cm benign lump in breast removed. 180 metres from mast. Next door
to Female 2’s house.
8. FEMALE - (Daughter of female 4) Lump removed, cancer? Has recently been away
for a year. She returned this summer, and has had the operation in summer 2002. Approx
200 metres from mast. Aged 27.
9. FEMALE - Suffers from abnormal cells in cervix. She is still under investigation and
has been called back to the doctor for 3 smear tests and 2 breast checks for lumps.
104 metres from mast. Aged 20.
10. FEMALE - Growths in womb, which were removed, and two years of infection after
infection leading to hysterectomy this year. Works within 102 metres of mast. Aged 34.
11. FEMALE - Pre-cancerous cells in cervix. This was diagnosed just over 12 months ago
(August 2001). Months after the removal of these she is still having treatment as tests
show that the cells are still abnormal. Working within 102 metres of the mast. Aged 32.
12. FEMALE - Cell changes in breast (biopsy showed calcium changes in cells) working
within 102 metres of mast .Aged 51.
13. FEMALE - Underwent surgery in April 2001 to remove benign lumps from womb and
cervix. She is also seeing her consultant for abnormal cells. Keeps waking up at
night. Electric shocks. Lives approx 200 metres from mast. Aged 44.
14. MALE - Rare tumour size of a fist at the top of the spine Diagnosed and operated on
Feb and 2nd March 2003. Sleep disturbance and electric shocks. Went on to develop
Motor Neurone disease and subsequently died in late 2004.
15. FEMALE - In April 2001 underwent surgery to remove benign lumps from womb
and cervix, still seeing consultant for abnormal cells. Lives Approx 200 metres from
mast. age 45
16. MALE - Son of Female 1 has horrendous nose bleeds. Living 102 metres from mast.
Aged 12.
17. MALE - Rash covers the whole of his body except the face. Seeing consultant
dermatologist. This rash developed twelve months ago. lives approx 200 metres from
mast. Aged 20.
18. MALE - Rash. Developed the same rash as neighbour, also consulting a dermatologist.
Lives approx 200 metres from mast. Aged 17.
19. FEMALE - Classical electrical hypersensitivity and multiple sensitivity symptoms
and hormone deficiency. Lives 102 metres from mast . Aged 49.
20. MALE – Husband of Female 19 Suffers from early morning light sensitivity. Disturbed
sleep. Keeps waking up and not getting back to sleep. 102 metres from mast. Aged early
50s.
21. FEMALE - Sister of man with rash. Has immune problems, viral infections, constant
throat problems. Lives approx 200 metres from mast.
22. MALE - Infection in ear leading to deafness and buzzing in ear. Aged 33. Has lived here
all his life.
23. MALE - nose bleeds and skin flaking all over. Toddler.
24. MALE - who has worked in the golf shop ever since it started, which is opposite the
mast, has Crohn’s disease diagnosed in 1995.
25. FEMALE - Was in house 18 months out of 3 years, It sounds like a different kind of
rash. Was all over now in patches even under scalp Two years. 2 1/2 yrs. She has
nosebleeds as well?
26. FEMALE - Mother of Female 25. Memory loss. In the last 6 months.

In August 2002 one lady of 70, who had been thought to be in good general health went into
hospital for a routine operation on her knee. The operation went well but she died soon
afterwards. This may or may not be connected with the illnesses described above.

In Summary: 25 people out of 53 have symptoms. There are 5 breast cancers. 4 people who have
had lumps removed from their breasts. 1 with cervical cancer. 3 With rashes. 4 with low
white blood cell counts, 5 with headaches. (These can be unbearable and last several days), 3
with hormone deficiency and early menopause, 4 with extreme tiredness, 6 with electric
shocks, 10 with buzzing in the ears. Most people have sleep disturbances, others have constant
tingling, numbness, pins and needles, sharp pin sensations, stiff joints, clicking joints, chest
pains, and internal heat/burning sensation. Many say their symptoms improve when they are
away from Wishaw. Several people have been asked by medics if they have worked with or been
exposed to chemicals/radiation/drug or alcohol abuse. A number of affected people in Wishaw
had very low neutrophils.

VILLAGERS USING METALS FOR MAST PROTECTION

March 4th 2004
By Emma Pinch, Birmingham Post

Villagers in Staffordshire are covering their walls with tin foil and zinc mesh to counteract the
health hazards they believe are posed by mobile phone masts near their homes.
Residents living in Essington believe that the 20 or so telecommunications antennae that surround
their village may have caused health problems ranging form skin rashes to child hood cancers.
Some people are now trying to counter what they see as the harmful electromagnetic radiation
emitted by the masts by coating their walls and ceilings with various different substances and
installing bronze strengthened windows. Two huge base stations stand on either side of the
entrance to Essington.
A 53-metre mast structure stands on one side of Bognop Road and a 48-metre mast stands on the
other, with a collection of aerials standing on each. A year ago an Orange mast went live on a
defunct water tower in the village’s Hawthorn Road and T-mobile is awaiting permission from
the Department for Trade and Industry to put up a further mast. Villagers have written 100 letters
in protest. “We are just surrounded by masts,” said a village parish councilor. “We feel like we
are under siege.” She claimed a large number of people seemed to be contracting cancer in the
village and there were fears locally that the problem was linked to the proliferation of mobile
phone masts. “For example my brother-in-law has contracted cancer at 50 and there are at least
three children suffering from leukaemia. Some people have skin rashes that won’t go away. “My
grandchildren have been suffering from headaches and insomnia. Our concern is that these are to
do with the masts”. This lady has replaced her windows with new glass, which is threaded with a
bronze mesh, and has lined her loft space and ceiling with tin foil. She also has a portable sheet of
fine nickel mesh for use in different rooms. Her two sons, who live with their families in houses
nearby, coated various rooms in foil and nickel mesh when their children complained of
headaches and insomnia. At least six other households in the villiage are following their example.
A friend suffering from skin rashes is going to try a balaclava-style nickel head covering while
others were investing in nickel bed drapes. This same lady said. “I should be out there getting
the garden sorted out now spring is here,” she said,” But I will only spend the minimum of time
out-side now”.

Bill Meridith, head of development control at South Staffordshire District council, said there were
“quite a few” mobile phone masts in and around Essington because it bordered on the motorways.
“Essington is very close to the M6 and the M54 and mobile phone companies target areas like
this because of the heavy usage along these routes,” he said.

A spokeswoman for Orange said the company had five masts in the area. “All our base station
emissions meet safety levels set out by the International Commission on Non=Ionizing Radiation
Protection,” she said. “As far as we are concerned if they comply there is no adverse impact on
health”.

CRANLOME HILL BALLYGAWLEY COUNTY TYRONE NORTHERN IRELAND

6 cancers in 5 houses. The houses are all next door to each other in a row about 100 metres
from a mast which had 35 pieces of equipment on. This however is not the full count. There
are people, on the other side of the small hill that the mast was on, that have also got cancer
and died since the mast went up. The amount of illness and death from cancer is to be
investigated by the people on the side of the mast that we know about. One of the 6 people in the
5 houses who died of cancer recently is a man in his 50s with 7 children. (I speak of the mast in
the past tense as it was mysteriously cut down on 14th Dec 2002)

There are 9 children within ½ a mile with leukaemia. There are also 6-7 adults with cancer.
There are two masts near a primary school. This is in a small town of about 3,000 people.

“Nature doesn’t put messages in microwaves”.

A woman whose child has leukaemia, but not from mast, has been to local authorities to check
records on leukaemia. The community has got together and decided that it has enough to cope
with its grief and does not want publicity or phone calls. Journalists have already chased them.
This lady did however mention a farmer in Pentland who has himself put up a mast, which is 40
metres from his house, and now his son has cancer. This is highly confidential, as he can’t cope
with what has happened and feels that he himself has caused his son’s illness.

up in 2002 each carrying 8 pieces of telecoms equipment. (A piece of equipment means an
antenna or a microwave dish.)

6 more masts were supposed to go up there last month.

families close to a 15-meter vodaphone mast, which has been up for 6 years, (since 1996),
have been struck by a mystery illness. Symptoms include intense headaches, dizzy spells and
a sinus condition which creates a burning sensation, and an unusually acute sense of smell.
(The discomfort from the sinus problems can be intense) Two of those concerned have developed
growths in the soft tissue of the sinus which they have been told are non malignant.

1. MALE - Growths in soft tissue of sinus 200/300 metres from mast Sense of smell
altered. Man mid 40s

2. MALE - Tumour behind eye Severe headaches, intensified sense of smell. 200 metres
from mast. Has “never felt well since mast went up.” 40s.

It may be relevant that the area around the sinuses is loaded with magnetite (A magnetic
substance that can be found in the bodies of animals and of human beings) and with iron. What
effect electromagnetic fields /microwaves have on these or other ‘metals’ such as copper which is
found in the blood is unknown. Perhaps in future the fact that iron and copper are found in the
blood will be found to link up with the finding that electromagnetic fields and leukaemia seem to
be linked. Scientists have looked at the possibilities but no work has been done on any of this.
It may also be relevant that it is medically confirmed that electromagnetic fields can impinge on
the olfactory nerves – affecting the sense of smell.

FIFE
ILLNESS CLUSTER RAISES FEARS OVER RADIO MAST. (Quoted from a Dundee based
newspaper – The Courier 27.8.03)

‘Fears were expressed yesterday that powerful radio masts and mobile phone transmitters could
be responsible for almost a dozen cases of cancer, motor neurone disease and Parkinson’s within
a rural area of North East fife.

Residents living within a two kilometre radius of masts on Drumcarrow Hill, Near St Andrews,
said yesterday it seemed “more than a coincidence” that the “cluster” of ill health had only
appeared after what they understand to be a TETRA-type transmitter was erected around four
years ago. Yesterday they demanded an independent inquiry by the Scottish Executive into the
safety of TETRA police communication masts, proposed for locations across Fife.

A number of experts have been invited to a meeting tonight in St Andrews town hall to debate
concerns over potential health risks of TETRA masts. The residents said more and more
questions continued to arise.

Retired nurse Catherine Gamba, of Peat Inn said she had been aware of several people falling ill
in the Peat Inn, Radernie and Denhead areas over the last couple of years. She recently
investigated further and realized the “frightening “ scale of the situation.

Drumcarrow, four kilometres southwest of St Andrews, is a sparsely populated area of farms,

cottages and hamlets. Mrs Gambia said that within the last three years, this area had seen four
cases of normally very rare motor neurone disease, four cases of thyroid cancer and several other
cancers, a case of Parkinson’s disease and a woman who developed ME.

Mrs Gamba claimed the problems only arose after a new TETRA-style mast was erected by
Dolphin Telecommunications Ltd.

She said, “It was horrendous to discover that these cases had only arisen after this new mast went
up, apparently without even requiring planning permission. The mast is not associated with the
proposed TETRA police masts now, but is a similar technology.

“At the moment we cannot prove that this mast is responsible – we also have concerns about
mobile phone masts at Radernie next to where three women have developed thyroid problems.
But if there is a link the last thing we need is more TETRA masts. This has implications not just
for us but for people across the country and the world”.

Mrs Yvonne Gibb has lived at Radernie for 12 years and for the last three years has suffered from
an under active thyroid. She was in “no doubt” of a connection between her ill health and the
masts.
“I discovered I had a thyroid problem when I started falling asleep all the time, and now have to
take thyroxin every day for life.”

“It’s only when I began speaking to more and more people that I realized folk were getting ill”.

Chartered Engineer, Christine Clarke, who grew up near Drumcarrow, suffers from ME. Her
mother Kathleen died aged 69 in December 2000, of motor neurone disease. She lived for more
than thirty years in the shadow of Drumcarrow but only fell ill after the Dolphin mast went up.

Miss Clarke said “My mother told me that she was convinced that there was a connection
between her condition and the new Dolphin/TETRA mast.

Studies have shown that the effects of radon gas from former mine shafts can be exacerbated by
electromagnetic radiation. There are redundant coal mines at Radernie and iron mines at
Denhead”.

Miss Clarke added, “There is on average one case of motor neurone disease out of every 200,000
population in their lifetime. Yet with a population of around 250,000 in Fife, we have three or
four cases of motor neurone disease- three times the national average within a two-mile radius in
only two years”.

Mrs Gamba said she had written to Fife Council and contacted North East MSP Iain Smith.

Yesterday a NHS Fife spokeswoman said they were not aware of any health cluster but would
investigate if asked to do so.

No-one at Basingstoke based Dolphin could be contacted due to an English bank holiday.

Mobile Phone Company Airwave Mm02, which is applying to erect TETRA masts as part of a
system that will improve radio communications for all emergency services, is adamant the masts
are safe. Fife Police also insisted the proposed masts pose no danger.
This mirrors what happened in a house in front of our masts with a large corrugated metal
building. They also had 2 masts at the back of it. The lady got a rare Brain disease as did the
house a few houses away from them. Husband Lung cancer and a person staying had Parkinson's
but improved when he left. The care worker who sat with the husband has had a cancer removed
from his face. The tractor driver in the next field had a breast removed and his stomach. His
family have a bad history of cancer. A lady 2 houses to their left has a cancer of the bone in the
face. The other house has a lady who has a spine which is disappearing. Sheep have fallen down
dead at this farm in front of the mast though they appeared very healthy and were not ill. This
was witnessed happening by a person who stated, it just fell over dead. The ram keeps running
away and now stays with me. I get a nose bleed if I go up this hill to the mast and a lady called
Janice went up herself and I gave her a heart monitor. She had worrying readings on this and
they took several days to go back to normal. We have people young and old with blood pressure
problems Thyroid, sleep disorders, as well as tinnitus, cancers and non-cancerous tumours.
Several people have lost some power in a limb. I have been told we have a hot spot here and
Bradley has confirmed this. Though most of this has happened in the last few years I think the
history goes back to about 1986 or there about. The daughter in the abandoned house at the back
of the farm developed a brain tumour.

The report stated that mobile phone mast radiation might cause childhood leukaemia, brain

masts create dangerous hotspots that can affect people living miles away from them. (This
happens when the pulses of microwave transmission layer one on another. Richard Dixon of
Friends of the Earth warns that the public have no way of knowing where these hotspots are and
“it could be the hotspot is above your bed where you relax every night” He goes on “If you live

were installed 50 metres away 18 months ago. In the previous 32 years no other children
had ever died of cancer in this school. Parents refused to let children back to school until
transmitters taken away. Court backed this.

CANCER CASES CAUSE ORANGE TO SUSPEND PHONE MAST OPERATION

AT A PARIS SCHOOL

Telecom giant Orange has suspended operations at a school phone mast site in
Paris after eight cases of cancer were confirmed among children in the
district. Over the past few months parents have become increasingly
concerned at the presence of two transmitters on the roof of the
Ernest-Bizet school complex in the Saint-Cyr-l’Ecole quarter. Local mayor,
Philippe Lavaud who has ordered the on-going health investigation to be
extended to the whole district, described the suspension as “ a victory for
the precautionary principle.” The local council recently prohibited the
siting of base stations within a 300 metre radius and is also seeking to
cancel contracts with telecomm operators agreed by the previous
administration.

While welcoming news of the Orange shutdown PRIARTEM, the group campaigning
for tighter control over mast siting, said that microwave emissions should
be subject to the same tough health regulations that monitor water and air
quality.

Orange says it took the decision to cease operations in “response to public

concern and to allow the health inquiry to proceed in a calmer atmosphere.”
Company spokesmen stressed that the emission levels have been checked and
were well within safety guidelines.

kOrange’s assurances about safe emission levels in the Paris case did not
surprise Karen Barratt. “We are used to hearing this,” she said, “ Orange
know perfectly well that these so-called safety guidelines are irrelevant
because they don’t refer to the biological effects of microwave radiation
that we’re all worried about. They can say it in French, English or
Esperanto. It’s rubbish in any language.”

Osafia residents will file a suit against the cellular companies

Several months ago I informed you that 188 people got cancer in areas
near cellular antennas in Osafia village. 83 of them have already died,
and new cases are found all the time. I bring the main details
translated from today's article in the local newspaper: Osafia residents
will file a suit against the cellular companies

Hadid Rasho
Yediot Haifa 29.10.2004

Dozens of Osafia's residents got organized this week in order to file a

suit against the cellular companies, to the district court. The sum is 5
million shekels. The lawer is Salah Maron, who tells: "The suit will
include also the power company because of the huge transformers in the
village, that cause also, according to experts, dangerous radiation. We
had professional consultation with experts in the field, and we found
that scienfically, it is possible to connect between the cellullar
antennas radiation and cancer disease, of which many residents in the
village have died."

Five years ago, furious residents burned the antennas farm that was
located near the village. Hundreds of policemen did not succeed in
stopping the people who protested, and the rage that was accumulated in
the village after dozens of Osafia residents had got cancer and part of
them died. The residents believed then, as now, that the radiation
caused the multitude of cancer cases and deaths in suffering of many of
those people.

These days, there is no reception in the village, because of absense of

communication antennas. The coalition for public health (which includes
20 environmental groups) asked the Health Ministry to map the cancer
disease in the arabic population. The reason for their request is lack
of publication of the cancer situation among the arabic population,
although there is a dramatic increase in cancer morbidity among the
arabic population, and although such a survey was done for the jewish
population. The Health Minitry refused with the explanation that they
don't have enough budget. The coalition asked the health minister to
interfere, and give enough resources for this work, like it was done for
the jewish population.

Dr. Zamir Shalita says, that it is possible that the transformers and
the power lines contribute to the illness. He was there on the 20th, and
there was low radiation then. It is not exactly like the newspaper says
that there are no antennas there, there are, but when formal people (ex
Environment ministry person, currently works in an air-pollution
industry funded body, Cities Association) came there, there was lower
radiation than usual, according to Dr. Shalita.

Why was there lower radiation? Dr. Shalita: "probably because Ehud
Neaman [from cities association] put the large meter with a mace the
size of King Ahashverosh on the tender, and only the blind residents of
Osafia couldn't see it. Of course, this tender parked near the local
council before we went to the area, and the companies were organized to
reduce the power".

The people who burnt the antennas in the past showed him how the
equipment looked before they burnt it. They told him that they prefer
the fine they were charged, to cancer.

VALLEY A SMALL TOWN IN GERMANY (NEAR MUNICH
Nearly one in two people suffer from cancer. Inhabitants blame powerful U.S. Radio Liberty
Towers which transmit programmes to Europe and Central Asia. The Local Authority failed to
act, so the town petitioned the Federal Court in Washington for the broadcasters to be removed.
The German Parliament then took notice and promised not to renew Radio Liberties’ lease when
it reviews it in 2005.

SKRUNDA

Research first published 1996 in “The Science of the Total Environment” by The Latvian
Academy of Sciences. (Peer reviewed). Studied nearly 1,000 children aged 8-18 who lived near
a military radio transmitter and compared them to a control group. They found that “memory
and attention were significantly impaired in all children living in front of the Skrunda
station”. The Skrunda station was shut down in 1998.

Source. The Observer points out that pulsed radiation, which is used in digital signals, is now
giving the most cause for concern. Most of the research reviewed by Stewart related to old
analogue signals that were not pulsed. They also reported that 2 of the expert group broke ranks
that weekend to condemn the NRPB’s failure to advise the Stewart committee properly.

CESANO AND SANTA MARIA DI GALERIA ROME )

Both these suburbs have more than six times the national average of infant leukaemia.
Residents also complain of a far greater incidence of tumours and constant headaches.
(There are 33 antennas and Vatican Masts have been emitting at 27 volts per meter. This is within
European field strength regulations whereas the maximum field strength allowed in Italy from
1998 is 6 volts per meter). There have been fierce arguments during which the Vatican got some
of Italy’s most prominent scientists to say that the proposed link between cases of leukaemia and
Radio Vatican’s transmitters “wholly lacked scientific foundation.” However after Italy’s
environment minister threatened to pull the plug on the masts they agreed to turn down the
power.
