-We Gather as Gods People-

Love Divine, All Loves Excelling

UMH 384

Do you feel it?
God's kingdom is beneath our feet.
We live in the new creation shaped by God out of our brokenness.
Do you know it?
God's reconciling love in Christ
has shattered our ways of viewing people.
No longer do we label our sisters and brothers,
we welcome them with open arms.
Do you believe it?
God has made everything, including us, new!
God sends us forth to share this good news with everyone!
Welcome to worship!

Day by Day

Cheryl Lawrie
We celebrate your absolute and complete unfairness, God.
You do not give us what we deserve.
You answer our unfaithfulness with generosity.
You do not repay betrayal with vengeance.
You never stop loving when we give every reason for you to stop.
You give us every possible chance, and then still more, to start again.
But our story doesnt end there.
You invite us into the life of faith
where your impossible grace becomes the standard for our living.
As such we pray your presence as we try the things
we fear most we cant do:
We name the people it is impossible for us to forgive
and ask you to walk with us in the journey to grace.
We name the people we know we have no right to ask forgiveness of
and ask you to walk alongside them with your compassion.
We name the situations that have no resolution
that we can possibly imagine
and pray that will not stop us from always choosing love.

Your ending is always
and only
May we live to make that the worlds ending too.

What Wondrous Love s This

-We Listen for Gods Word-

Psalm 32

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ,

and has given us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God
was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses
against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us.
So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal
through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to
God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in
him we might become the righteousness of God.
Luke 15
Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming near to listen to
him. And the Pharisees and the scribes were grumbling and saying,
This fellow welcomes sinners and eats with them.
Then Jesus said, There was a man who had two sons . . .

2 Corinthians 5:16-21
From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of
view; even though we once knew Christ from a human point of view,
we know him no longer in that way. So if anyone is in Christ, there is
a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has
become new!

We take prayer seriously at Essex United Methodist Church.

We dont pray because we think God is absent and needs cajoling.

We dont pray because we think God is a celestial Santa Claus.
We pray because that is how humans begin to discern Gods will.
We pray because prayer changes us; prayer opens us up
more and more to Gods grace and the movement
of Gods Spirit in our hearts, our community, our world.

Below are people, places, & concerns that folk have lifted up.
Please keep them in your prayers at home.
Please call or email the church office to add to the prayer list.
