Introduction

This assignment is need to finding and identify the factor that influencing the
student choice of major in APU. We are the coordinator of the Curriculum Unit of
A.P.U. and have been assigned the task of finding out students preferences on
choosing their college major. Therefore, it was important to study what affecting student
choice of college major. The study aimed to explore the potential and significant factors
that are influencing the choice of major of undergraduate students. The limitation of
our research was the participant limited in APU university and the sample size was
too small that make us difficult to find significant relationships from the data, because the

Quantitative research and statistical tests normally require a larger sample size to ensure a
representative distribution of the population and to be considered representative of groups
of people to whom results will be generalized or transferred.
Literature review
The three journal for our literature review are Major Decisions: Motivations for

Affecting the Study of Accounting in Nigerian Universities written by Odia, J.O. and

Overview the research
When we overview the research, we can see that the most common factor was the
interest. The journal have state interest was the most common factor is because
most students would choose on a tentative subject or area of interest to achieve
their goal and get or hold their dream job. Besides, Career-Related factor have also been

found to be a conducing factor in choosing the major. The major in future career with high
demands and promising job might attractive more students. So we can know that the higher
payment of salary jobs will be more attractive the student while select their major compare to
low salary jobs. In J2 and J3, the factor influence of other has been founded, most of
the student will be influence by other because they might have pressure by their
family advice or the peer effect from friend/students, they probably influence by
unexpectedly.
Methodology
First, the quantitative research design have been use in our research because quantitative

research design can generalise the findings and analysis easily that was suitable for these studies.
Population in our research are college students in APU with different majors and level. The
sample in our research was chose 45 students become participants to help us complete
our survey. We use online questionnaire become our survey method to get the
information from participants. The questionnaire was using the Likert scale and
multiple choice for the items because we can get more difference type of
information. The information about the questionnaire have include Interest,

Personality, Influence of other, self-ability, Financial support, Career-related factor,

Cultural Background and Each variables have provide 5 items. So we have total 35
items use to analysis the result. And add on, the demographic profile like gender,
class standing, level of education and field of study will be discuss in Result and
