Softball Player of the Week Cedar Blazek, Williams
(First Year, CF - Highlands Ranch, Colo.) Blazek batted .813 (13-for-16), with six of her 13 hits going for extra bases during a 5-1-1 week for the Ephs. She set a new program mark for home runs in a season (8) with two last week. Blazek also walked five times and reached base on 18-of-21 appearances at the plate (.857 OBP). She drove home 11 runs in the six games she played and also scored nine.

Softball Pitcher of the Week Lauren Becker, Colby
(First Year, RHP - Falls Church, Va.) Becker made four appearances last week, allowing three earned runs over 21.1 IP (0.98) and earning a 3-0 record. She recorded 19 strikeouts to just five walks. Becker picked up two of the Mules’ three wins over Bates tossing 5.2 innings of relief in an 11-2 comefrom-behind win on Friday, then hurling a four-hit shutout with five strikeouts in a 6-0 victory over the Bobcats on Saturday.

Amherst first year Reilly Horan (Darien, Conn.) safely hit in each of her six games last week and batted in at least one run in five of the six during a 3-3 showing for the Jeffs. She batted .550 (11-for-20) with an on-base percentage of .571 and a slugging mark of .750. She hit four doubles, scored four runs, and drove in six. First year RHP Theresa Kelley (Los Angeles, Calif.) did not allow an earned run in a 4-2 win over Hamilton, giving up four hits and striking out eight over 8.0 IP...Bates soph. 2B Lauren Dobish (Chambersburg, Pa.) batted .467 (7-for-15) with a .556 on-base percentage and a .867 slugging mark during a 2-3 week for the Bobcats. Dobish drove in five runs and scored six while hitting three doubles and a home run. First year Caroline Gattuso (North Reading, Mass.) went 1-1 with a 4.04 ERA in 17.1 innings over three games last week...Bowdoin soph. CF Hillary Smyth (Hollis, N.Y.) batted .500 (7-for-14) in a 4-1 week for the Polar Bears, including a .556 mark in the three-game series with Trinity. She single-handedly led her squad to victory in the first game on Saturday, going 3-for-3 with three RBI and throwing out the game-tying runner at the plate to end the contest. Kara Nilan (Pittsfield, Mass.) went 2-0 with a 1.83 ERA last week, including a complete-game shutout of Trinity in the third game of the series on Saturday...Colby junior CF Alex Essman (Littleton, Mass.) hit three home runs in three games against Bates over the weekend. She batted .412 (7-for-17) in a 5-0 week for the Mules. Junior 1B Alyssa Lepore (Victor, N.Y.) batted .562 (9-for-16) with six runs scored and six driven in. She also earned a save and was flawless on 39 chances in the field... Hamilton first year Lisa Faraci (Cranbury, N.J.) has recorded a hit in seven straight games, raising her batting average from .233 to .292 over that stretch. She batted .412 (7-for-17) with three runs scored and two driven in over five games last week. Faraci also handled 16 chances at second base flawlessly...Middlebury rookie Jessica Poracky (Ramsey, N.J.) hit .455 with three doubles and three RBI last week for the Panthers. Junior pitcher Ali McAnaney (Northbrook, Ill.) owned a 0.50 ERA with a dozen strikeouts over 14 innings last week...Trinity junior Katherine Stoltenberg (Montgomery, N.J.) had four multi-hit games during a 4-2 week for the Bantams, including a four-hit performance in a 12-8 win over Bowdoin on Friday. She batted .611 (11-for-18) with a .667 OBP and a .722 slugging mark, scoring five runs and driving in seven. Junior RHP Kristen Anderson (West Haven, Conn.) earned two of the Bantams’ four wins last week, highlighted by a six-hit shutout of Manhattanville on Tuesday. In a 2-1 week overall, Anderson posted an ERA of 3.70...Tufts soph. 1B Lena Cantone (Southington, Conn.) batted .500 (5-for-10) in three games for the Jumbos last week, with three runs scored and a stolen base...Wesleyan soph. 3B Alexis Kral (Northvale, N.J.) had a hit in each of the Cardinals’ games against Amherst over the weekend, including a 3-for-3 effort with a pair of homers in the 9-4 win. She batted .556 (5-for-9) with four runs scored and four driven in during a 2-1 week. After being relieved in the first inning of Saturday’s second game, soph. Dana Levy (Westport, Conn.) returned for the final six innings and allowed just five hits and one run as the Cardinals won, 8-2...Williams first year RHP Megan Casey (Greenwood Village, Colo.) tossed two shutouts last week for the Ephs. After recording a two-hitter in blanking Tufts, she came back in her next start and shut out Hamilton. Going 3-0 on the week, Casey had 20 strikeouts over 21.1 IP while giving up six earned runs over four appearances.
