There may have been a couple other
recognitions which by-passed your aging
editor.

could not find the winning marble.

playground project.

a later time.

14th ANNUAL ROTARY NITE AT THE

RACES WAS HUGE SPLASH
BOTH INSIDE AND OUT
It was a dark and stormy night, however 135
damp and intrepid Rotarians and friends braved
the rains to enjoy another exciting Nite at the
Races, recognized as Moragas Social Event of

the Season! Once again the revelers enjoyed an

excellent dinner, a lively auction, some exciting
horse races, and a great evening of fun! Our
hearty appreciation must go to so many people
who worked long and hard to make the event a
success. However, our special thanks goes to
Frank May, who willingly served again as general
chairman of the fund-raiser. We also appreciated
the Interact students from Campo High; the
donors of auction items; the bartenders; those
who set-up the room and especially those who
stayed till the clean-up was finished. The early
preliminary financial report from Lad Lynch is that
we will possible net about $17,000 for the evening
plus an additional $7,600 in donations for the
Clubs new playground for special needs
children in our community. So, again, THANKS
TO ALL who made the 14th Nite at the Races a
great success!

SPEAKER OF THE DAY

A very interesting program was presented today
by Yiffany Ng about the work of Orion Academy,
a private high school in Moraga. The program of
the school is designed for students challenged by
Aspergers syndrome, various non-verbal
learning disorders, depression, anxiety, and other
neurocognitive disorders. The goal of the
Academy is to assist the students to develop
social and learning skills to enable independent
living and to do things which other young people
do. The speaker described many of the programs
and activities which help the 60 students to learn
the skills of executive functioning.
