Women’s Ministry Meeting Saturday – The Women’s Ministry Leadership Team is meeting Saturday, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in the Youth Room to continue to develop the SoJ ministry for women. We will work on the mission statement and brainstorm ideas for future events. All are welcome to participate in building a ministry to nurture women as they grow in Christ. New Women’s Journey Group! Sign up at the Welcome Center if you’re interested in meeting with your sisters in Christ either Sunday or Monday evenings every two weeks to share daily Bible reading and our joys and struggles as we live out our faith in daily life. Hands Full Of Bibles – Each Fall at SoJ it is our custom to provide Bibles to parents of every child / youth at SoJ, 1st grade and up, who do not yet have one. If you would like your son or daughter to receive a Bible later this Fall please sign-up at the Welcome Center soon! First Communion – At SoJ parents decide when their children are ready for communion. A two session class for parents and children will be held this summer. Sign-up at the welcome Center! New Member / Disciple Orientation – To become a member / disciple at Spirit of JOY, you’re asked to attend a 2-hour orientation immediately following the 10:45 a.m. worship service on Sunday, October 14th. Interfaith Hospitality Network News! • IHN Sign-Up Continues Today! – SoJ will be hosting homeless families September 30-October 7; over one hundred volunteer positions need to be filled. If you’ve signed up before, please sign up again so the team knows which positions are filled and verify your information on the Volunteer Roster. Put a check mark by your name if the information is correct. If you have not helped before, stop by the IHN TRIFOLD to see where your talents could fit in; job descriptions are available. All positions are of short time duration, very rewarding and truly meet the challenge of our Lord as stated in Matthew 25:44-45. • IHN Volunteer Meeting Sept. 27! All IHN Volunteers are requested to attend a critical IHN Volunteer Meeting, Sept. 27, 7-8 p.m. We’ll review changes in the IHN Volunteer Handbook and hear the SoJ facilities manager, Bob Belk, “show and tell” some building requirements. Bicycle Ministry – This unique SoJ ministry provides bicycles to people in need. Volunteers are needed. Meet in the back storage room at 10 a.m. the 2nd Saturday each month, and 10 a.m. Wednesdays. Sunday's Cool Registration – If you haven’t registered your 4yr. old – 5th grader for Sunday's Cool, stop by the registration table in the lobby today. Parent volunteers are needed too. Youth Ministry Kick Off Sept. 30! What is Middle & High School Ministry at SoJ and what is planned for this year? Find out at the Kick Off, Sunday, September 30, 1 - 3:30 p.m. We’ll start by helping set up for our IHN guests, followed by a potluck cook-out. SoJ will provide the hamburgers and hotdogs. Sign up at the Welcome Center to bring a side dish. The afternoon will conclude with a chance to play games, meet the leaders, and get a calendar of events for this year. Sunday’s Cool Curriculum Team – The Children's Ministry team of SoJ is previewing new curriculum for use during Sunday's Cool time. If you would like to be a part of this process, see Nicole Eastwood or join the next meeting, Sunday, September 23 after 2ND service in Splash Zone. Paid Nursery Attendant Staff Opening – SoJ is looking to hire a part-time nursery attendant to work Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. If you, or someone you know is interested, please contact Pastor Jeff or Nicole Eastwood today. Youth Recycling Project – SoJ’s youth recycle inkjet, laser cartridges, AND cell phones. Please bring your empty cartridges and unused cell phones to the Welcome Center and drop them into the appropriate boxes. Thanks for partnering with us in this fundraiser!

Children’s Choir – This choir for kids in grades 1-5 meets on Wednesdays, 7-8 p.m. members are always welcome.


Joy Singers – This adult choir is for anyone, regardless of experience! They meet Wednesdays, 7-8 p.m. in the worship center, and sing occasionally on Sunday mornings to provide special music or added support to the worship team. Joyful Noise – This is the Sunday morning worship team, which prepares new music each week to lead our congregation in worship at 9:00 and 10:45. If interested, see Phil about taking a Musical Gifts Assessment to be a part of this group. Drama Team – SoJ's Drama Team consists of writers and actors who are interested in utilizing their talents in short skits to enhance the worship experience.
