MOVING TO A DIFFERENT COUNTRY

The fact that we live in a globalized world allows us to different things, from being
connected with the global information until having access to other cultures easily. In this
global village the migrations are more common and are usually related to the fact that
people is searching for better opportunities that wouldnt find in their origin countries.
Probably the migrations from one country to another have been studied in their
sociological aspects, but its also very important to consider the individual consequences
of moving to a different country.
First of all, to change the country one lives in means getting in touch with a different
culture. It may imply learning a new language. For example, when someone moves
from North America to the South of the continent will have to improve the Spanish
skills, so the communication will be more fluid. It is important because in every place
its necessary to express the needs and the ideas. Another consideration when getting
involved in a new culture is being respectful with the traditions and believes of the new
country, as the religion or some practices that are not allowed in all the places. So
moving to a different country means changing the perspective and the point of view
about those who are different and being open-minded to the variety of the world.
Another thing to consider as a consequence of moving to a different country is dealing
with a foreign currency. Except for the European Union and for the countries that
manage the dollar, every country has its own coin. It is important to check what the coin
the new country handles is and the interchange rate. Also its necessary checking the
obligatory taxes of the new country. Forgetting these aspects may cause complications.
Finally, an effect of leaving the origin country is the homesickness. Usually, when
moving away, people start missing the home, the family, the traditions, and all those

simple things that are the components of the daily life. For example, being sick in a
foreign country or being alone are simple situations that can be very difficult to
experience in a new place.
In conclusion, even if migrations are every day more common, its necessary to consider
its effects and consequences to the lives of people who decide to move to a different
country. It may be related to cultural experiences, economic arguments or maybe with
the primary and emotive sensations one can experience being far away from the
homeland. The truth is nobody is ever prepared for the surprises of living in another
country.
