INTRODUCTIN:
Athara Hazari , is a city and capital of Athara Hazari
Tehsil situated on the Jhang-Bakhar Highway within the
boundaries of theJhang District, Punjab, Pakistan. It is about 5
kilometers from the Trimmu Barrage. To the north of the town, the
rivers Jhelum and Chenab meet and the water flows down to the
Trimmu Barrage. Athara Hazari has a police station to serve the
local region. Hazari also has a NADRA office and ZTBL bank.

HISTORY AND HOPES OF 18 HAZARI:
It is said that when Sultan Mahmood Ghaznavi came here he had
an army of 18,000 (in Urdu athara hazar), hence the name of
the village Athara Hazari has a small police station to serve the

university (Pir Taj-Din University of Science and Technology Athara
Hazari Jhang).
AGRICULTURE OF ATHARA HAZARI : Athara h AZARI IS
SITUATED ON Trimmu Barrage ,Many floods had reached on Thara
Hazari land and leave a most valuable layer of land for agriculture
. Sugar cane is the best productive crop of Athara Hazari and
make a lot of profit not only for big landlords but also for smaller
ones .Wheat is also the main crop of Athara Hazari and has a
rank in the list of more productive land for agriculture.Rice is also
the profitable crop for the peoples of Athara Hazari.
TRIMMU BARRAGE: Trimmu Barrage is a barrage on the River
Chenab in the Jhang District of thePunjab province of Pakistan. It
is situated downstream of the confluence of theRiver
Jhelum and River Chenab. It is situated some 25 km from the city
of Jhangnear the village of Atharan Hazari where the River
Jhelum flows into the River Chenab.Trimmu Barrage is proved very
destructive for Thara Hazari . Because when this Barrage is
abundant of water because of flood in rivers ,so it floods the land
of Athara Hazari and destroy not only properties of people but
also their lives.
Flood of 2014 : Flood of 2014 not only destroy the properties of

rivers affected because of 2014 flood , the land of Athara H azari

According to officials, floodwater posing serious threat to Trimu
headworks, which might be swept away by the raging floodwater.
The authorities had already preparations to break Athara Hazari
dyke
if
needed
to
reduce
water
pressure
at
the
headworks.According to reports after the breach, floodwater has
entered in Athara Hazari town.The high flood leaving traces of
widespread destruction in central Punjab was rushing towards
Trimu on Tuesday night, submerging over 1,400 villages and
posing threat to its five adjoining districts.Trimu headworks, which
have a design capacity of 645,000 cusecs will likely to receive
600,000 cusecs of water today.The water body will face real
threat after 48 hours when the water level will be feared to rise
between 700,000 and 800,000 cusecs.
That was the cause of destruction in Athara Hazari .
