Face dismissal proceeding for sending derogatory emails to staff members

By Kimmy Blair
Street Hype Reporter

There are no Black male principal in D 79,

Green alleged, adding that the new
White principal at the School of Cooperative Technical Education, Corey
Prober, was elected in a secret manner
in contradiction to the C-30 procedure
prescribed by the Chancellors Regulation.
Green complained to the SCI, the
Office of Legal Counsel, and the
Department of Education Equality
Opportunity and Diversity Management, and said they have circled
the wagons, dismissed his complaints, and justified the bigotry and
nepotism that D 79, under the control of
Dr. Tim Lisante, has long engaged in.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Department
of Education (DOE) validated
Greens complaint and is
conducting
its
own investigation, warning
that
retaliation is
prohibited.

longtime community educator and educational activist says he was abruptly pulled out of his classroom last week because of his penchant for speaking
out about discriminatory practices and is being threatened with dismissal.
Dr. Rupert Green, who is also a member of State
Senator Comries Educational Advisory Committee and
a 15-year veteran New York City educator, said he was
removed from the classroom at John Adams High
School in Queens last Thursday and placed in a warehouse to face dismissal proceeding.
In a press release to Street Hype Newspaper, Dr.
Green claimed that his students in the Science Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) program at John
Adams has no teacher qualified to teach the program as a result of his absence from the school.
His removal from the classroom came as a result of a Special Commissioner of Investigation (SCI) finding that Dr. Green
used the DOE email to send derogatory emails to staff members.
However, Dr. Green claimed that he has been sending
emails for more 15 years to talk about educational matters, including actions that District 79 engages in to
prevent Blacks, especially males, from becoming
school administrators.

The high cost of living in New York City!

T
he cost of living in New
York City is very unbearable for a significant number
of its people.
In fact, it is estimated that
taking all expenses into account, the cost of living in
New York City is at least 69
percent higher than the national average.
If you live in the city center, it is even worse.
The cost of living in Manhattan, for example, is more
than double the national average.
Housing costs, food
prices, and other living expenses have forced people to
constantly borrow or take on
several jobs or hustle on

the side -- to supplement their

income.
In addition, before the average New Yorkers paycheck
even reaches the bank, he or
she is already shelling out
some of the highest income
taxes in the country, with total
rates ranging from 7 to 12 percent.
At the same time, residents face some of the least affordable housing in the
country, along with prices for
every-day products that are up
to twice the national averages.
A typical middle class
resident makes about $40,000
a year, while equivalent residents in other part of the country earn $17,900 a year.

patrick@streethype.net

Considering only rental

expense or housing mortgage
of up to $2,000, an income of

$3,000 per month is not sufficient to keep pace with the living expenses.
New Yorkers, especially
Blacks and Latinos, are desperately seeking opportunities
to increase personal income.
Therefore the announcement that minimum wage
would rise from $9 per hour to
$15 over three years in New
York City, starting Dec. 31,
2016, is good news for the
poorest among us.
However, it wont be
good news for most small and
medium-size operations as
they struggle to meet wages
expenses.

People Are Talking...!

Governor Cuomos Last Minute Power Grab

ou should know that in

the eleventh hour, New
York State Governor Andrew Cuomo has slipped
language into the Budget
that would allow him to take
over the homeless shelters in
the City of New York.

As you all know, the Governor has declared war on New

York City Mayor Bill de Blasio,
and he is doing everything possible to embarrass the Mayor
without regard or respect for the
hard work and sacrifices of
New York Citys CommunityBased Organizations that run
shelters.
In the middle of this fight
are the poor, the needy and the
suffering New York City residents.
Instead of joining forces
with the Mayor of the City of
New York and the CommunityBased Organizations, the Governor wants to remove
Community-Based Organizations and replace them with
anyone he chooses to be in
charge.
Governor Andrew Cuomo
should strive to solve housing
problems by forcing the landlords who own the actual property where the homeless
shelters exist to remedy the violations in those buildings. The
building violations are caused
by the landlords neglect not
the Community-Based Organizations!
Instead of Governor
Cuomo working to punish the
landlords who own and neglect

WHAT YOU
SHOULD
KNOW

By Senator Rev. Rubn Daz

District 32 Bronx County

the buildings where the shelters

are located, surprise, surprise:
he is planning to punish the
Community-based Organizations for building code violations that are completely out of
their hands.

Governor Cuomo
should strive to solve
housing problems by forcing
the landlords who own the
actual property where the
homeless shelters exist to
remedy the violations
in those buildings.

It is absolutely ridiculous
for the Governor and for the
State of New York to take over
shelter programs in the City of
New York and, yet still force
the Mayor and the City of New
York to fund shelters with the
Citys resources they are not
even in control of.

My dear reader, its A-OK

for the Governor to take over
State programs and put in
charge whomever he pleases,
but NOT for him to come to the
City of New York and tell the
Mayor and the City Council
and Community-based Organizations that hes taking over the
shelter system expecting to
use the Citys resources.
Its only in Cuba where
you see these kinds of political
maneuvers!
I have to implore my colleagues in the State Legislature
especially Assembly Speaker
Carl Heastie, Senate Independ-

ent Democratic Conference

Leader Jeff Klein, Senate Democratic Conference Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins to NOT
allow for this outrageous manipulation of resources to pass
in New York States Budget and
force the City of New York to
pay for programs controlled by
the State of New York.
If our leaders allow for this
kind of power shift to take
place, and use the excuse that it
will help the homeless, they are
fooling no one.
This language that has
been slipped into the Budget at
the last minute will hurt the
Community-Based Organizations that serve the homeless
and the City of New York, and
we must not allow that to happen.
I am Senator Rubn Daz
and this is what you should
know.

103-Year-Old
Woman Robbed

Police have arrested the woman who they

say robbed a 103-year-old woman at her
Bronx apartment.
Authorities say it happened around
2:30 p.m. Friday at an apartment building
on Bellamy Loop in Co-Op City.
Police say 53-year-old Sharon McNeil
followed the elderly woman onto an elevator.
When the victim got out, police say
McNeil knocked her to the ground and took
her shopping cart. "I'm nervous. I'm jittery.
I'm still shaking," the victim said. "What
could she get from me? Well, maybe she
thought I had cards with me. She probably
just thought I had credit cards or a cellphone,"the victim, who was still shaken up.
Police say McNeil was caught on surveillance cameras leaving the building after
the attack.
She now faces charges of robbery, assault, and harassment.

Gets Red Light
Cameras

New Rochelle:
n an effort to increase safety at some of
the Citys busiest intersections, the
New Rochelle Police Department has installed red light cameras at various intersections throughout the City. Warning
signs have been installed and enforcement will begin mid-April.
The cameras will monitor select locations based on traffic volume and accident data. We hope that their installation
will signal to motorists to drive more cautiously throughout the entire City, said
Police Commissioner Patrick Carroll.

However, in response, the OSI subsequently conducted three investigations
against Green, including a more serious
conflict of interest, which they found not
to be true.
Green said the conflict of interest
arose because he attempted to write a federal proposal to obtain $2.5 million to give
the school to run a STEM after school program.
Green believes that it is a rouge element in the DOE that is using the investigatory agencies as agent of repression
against those who speak out. Since the
DOE is now trying to recruit Black males,
he finds the actions against him contradictory.
The educator has setup a gofundme,

Minimum wages pushes towards $15 an hour

NEW YORK CITY:

overnor Andrew Cuomo and state legislative leaders reached a deal on Thursday to
raise New York state's minimum wage towards
$15 per hour, but fell short of a uniform statewide increase.
The deal outlines a faster rise in New York
City, but carves out a slow lane for small businesses and surrounding counties. In less prosperous areas north of the city it rises to $12.50
per hour before a state review of the law's impact.
The minimum wage agreement was part
of a broad budget deal that Cuomo announced
late on Thursday. He said the plan included 12
weeks of paid family leave and $4.2 billion in
tax cuts. The $147 billion budget caps spending
growth at 2 percent.
"I believe that this is the best plan the state
has produced in decades," Cuomo told a news
conference in the state capital, Albany. Cuomo
has earmarked $100 billion in infrastructure
spending in the state.
The budget also increases school funding
by 6.5 percent to $24.8 billion and freezes tuition at the state university system, SUNY.
The minimum wage has been a controversial element in difficult budget negotiations
that threatened to delay the spending plan past
the start of the state's fiscal year on April 1. The
agreement, including the minimum wage, still
needs to get approval from lawmakers.
Under the terms of the deal the minimum
wage would rise from its current $9 per hour
to $15 over three years in New York City starting on Dec. 31, 2016. City businesses with up
to 10 employees would be given four years to
implement the measure.
Long Island and Westchester County
around New York City would be given six
years to push through the increases while the
rest of the state would see the minimum wage
rise to $12.50 in five years, with indexed increases to $15 possible after review.
There is also a provision to suspend the
increases from 2019 if economic conditions
worsen.
The compromise is a climb down for
Cuomo and his fellow Democrats who had
pushed for a $15 state-wide minimum and no
carve outs for small businesses. Republicans
argued that a flat statewide rate could hurt businesses in less wealthy areas.
"It may not go to $15. There's no guarantee, that's the good thing," said Senator George

Amedore, a Republican representing a constituency upstate, who commented on the

agreement to Reuters.
Phil Steck, a Democratic Party assembly
member, who represents a district 165 miles
(265 km) north of the city, argued that the opposite was true, and a lower minimum wage
would be a blow to the upstate economy. "We
have a very strapped economy in upstate New
York and the surest way to ensure continued

poverty is to run a low wage economy," he

said. "If anything, the poorer areas of the state
needed an increase in the minimum wage
more."
The multi-tier solution could also dampen
the national drive for a $15 minimum wage that
has gathered pace as Democrats mobilize their
base ahead of the presidential election in November.

Oil prices volatile

on output fears

il prices have rebounded slightly after

early falls, although doubts still remain
that output will be curbed at a meeting later
this month.
Iran's oil minister has reportedly repeated that the country will continue to increase production and exports.
The slight rise follows big falls on Friday
after Saudi Arabia said it would freeze production only if other major producers did the
same.
Oil producers are to meet on 17 April to
discuss a deal to freeze output. Brent crude
crept up by 0.5% to $38.86 in morning trading.
In February, Saudi Arabia struck a deal
with Russia and other Opec nations to freeze

production to hit pre-sanction levels before
beginning talks.

refuse Trinidad access to the Jamaican market, if it continues to restrict free movement
of Jamaican citizens.
The PSOJ president, according to the report, said he had been in touch with Foreign
Affairs Minister Senator Kamina JohnsonSmith, and that he would be pushing for the
country to use its market as leverage to
achieve freedom of movement.

Kathrada calls for Zuma to resign

South Africa:

South African anti-apartheid veteran has called on President Jacob

Zuma to resign following a scandal
over improper spending at his private
home.

Ahmed Kathrada, who was jailed alongside Nelson Mandela, said that Mr Zuma's
resignation would end a "crisis of confidence" in the government.
Zuma said on Friday he would repay the
money but would remain in his post. He has
faced widespread calls for his resignation
from South Africa's opposition.
South Africa's highest court ruled that
Mr Zuma had failed to uphold the constitution by ignoring instructions to repay some of
the $16m in state funds spent on renovations
at his private residence.
In a televised address on Friday, Mr Zuma
made no reference to the calls for his resignation.

The leadership of Mr Zuma's party, the

African National Congress, said it was united
behind its leader, but the intervention of 86year-old Mr Kathrada, a party veteran, may
carry weight.
Along with Mr Mandela, Mr Kathrada
was among eight ANC activists sentenced to
life imprisonment after being convicted of
trying to overthrow the apartheid government
during the 1963-1964 Rivonia Trial.
In an open letter published in South
African media, Mr Kathrada said: "In the face
of such persistently widespread criticism,
condemnation and demand, is it asking too
much to express the hope that you will choose
the correct way that is gaining momentum, to
consider stepping down?

shoes, I would step down with immediate effect." A composite image showing South

Chinese company to build regional headquarters in Jamaica

By Peta-Gay Hodges
KINGSTON, Jamaica (JIS):
hina Communications Construction
Company (CCCC) will begin the construction of its regional headquarters in New
Kingston later this year, signalling its confidence in Jamaica and its intent to remain in
the region and to continue to invest in the
country.
Vice president of CCCC, Ziyu Sun,
made the disclosure shortly after the official
opening of its landmark project in Jamaica,
the North-South leg of Highway 2000, on
Wednesday, March 24.

He pointed out that the company decided

to concentrate on Jamaica for three reasons.
The first was the fact that Jamaica was the
first Caribbean country to set up diplomatic
relations with China in the early 1970s, yielding what is now a long history between the
two countries.
The second consideration was to fulfill
Chinas interest in building an economic partnership with the Jamaican people; and thirdly,
Jamaica is an island and China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) specialises in
activities, such as marine engineering, dredging and bridge building.

Sun said that CCCC is one of the 500

largest enterprises in the world. We are currently ranked at 165 and expecting to move
ahead another 20 positions by the end of the
year, he noted, adding that the companys
decision to establish headquarters in Jamaica
is an indication of its confidence in the government and people of Jamaica.
According to Sun, the building of the
North-South leg of Highway 2000 was the
first overseas investment for CCCC and its
subsidiary CHEC, using the Build-OperateTransfer (BOT) model.

State Bar Seeks Changes to Power-of-Attorney Law

ALBANY -

he New York State Bar Association is lobbying to change New

York's power-of-attorney statute,
which its members say is fraught with
procedural pitfalls that pose "significant and severe repercussions" for both
lawyers and clients.

The bar's Working Group on Power of

Attorney said 2008 and 2010 revisions to
the power-of-attorney statute failed to meet
the intended goal of strengthening protections for potentially incapacitated principals.
Instead, the group says power-of-attorney paperwork is now riddled with "traps
for the unwary."
The state bar's House of Delegates

adopted the group's findings and authorized

a lobbying effort in Albany to have powerof-attorney procedures revert back to simpler pre-2008 procedures by amending
General Obligations Law, 5-1501-51514.
Ellen Makofsky, the chair of the panel,
said the "continuous" errors being made in
preparation of power-of-attorney documents is due to the unnecessary complexity
of New York's law.
"The power of attorney is too complicated and the complications make improper
execution of the form an easy task," said
Makofsky, of Makofsky and Associates in
Garden City. "There are severe repercussions to improper execution of the form

The panel recommended reverting to the
use of one document.
Eliminate the requirement that in order to
be valid, a power-of-attorney form must
contain the "exact wording" as the statute.
The standard should be a "substantial compliance" one, and that the "exact wording"
requirement has resulted in the hypertechnical voiding of power-of-attorney forms
because they do not match the General Obligations Law word-for-word.

Costa Rica defeats Reggae Boyz 3-0

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica:

eggae Boyz skipper Adrian Mariappa was
in a somber mood when he spoke to the
media outside the mixed zone shortly after his
team suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to Costa Rica
inside Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica on
Tuesday night.
For the Crystal Palace defender, it was a
case of everything going wrong for his team
and a very alert and quality-filled opposition
pouncing on every mistake.
It is obviously a massive blow for us.
We got caught between two schools of thought
today and we didnt quite get it right on the

pitch and we left ourselves very open, explained Mariappa in a hushed tone.
They are a very good side and they were
able to capitalise on what we didnt get right,
and with that said it is a tough loss and we are
going to have to get back to the drawing
board.
We got a lot of work to do before the
Copa (America Centenario) and we are going
to get a couple weeks together to work on
things, and that time in the summer should do
us some good and then we should be ready to
play the game in September, the man popularly referred to as Maps, added.

KOLKATA, INDIA:
he women and men of the West Indies
made Sunday, April 3, 2016 a special
day in the history of the region's cricket
when they both won their respective finals
of the ICC World Twenty/20 championships.
The day in Kolkata ended on the most
sensational note imaginable, when Carlos
Brathwaite, batting at number 8 for the
West Indies men, struck four consecutive
sixes to secure victory over England by
four wickets, with two balls to spare.
England, batting first, had been restricted to 155/9.
That target, which might not have
looked too daunting during the innings
break, but with the loss of three early
wickets, including that of the influential
Chris Gayle, the outcome was in serious
doubt for a while.
The batting was held together by
Marlon Samuels, who had come in at the
fall of the first wicket. He remained there
to the very end, top scoring with 85 from
66 balls, as he kept the West Indies mostly
on track to overhaul the target.
With 19 runs to get at the start of the
final over, however, hopes might have
begun to fade in the West Indies dugout.
That over was bowled by Ben Stokes,
who, in England's semi-final match
against New Zealand, had been very effective in restricting the opposing batsmen
in the final stage of their innings.
His captain, Eoin Morgan, no doubt
expected more of the same in the most
crucial over of the championship, but
against a rampant Brathwaite, there was
going to be no repeat performance. His
four attempted yorkers all failed to land
on the right spot on the pitch. Instead they
landed in the stands courtesy of the
mighty swings of Brathwaite's bat, sparking wild celebrations in the stands among
the partisan Indian fans.
Women
Earlier, in the women's final, the West
Indian ladies bowled very well to restrict
the more experienced Australians to 148/5
off their 20 overs.
Elyse Villani and Meg Lanning were
joint top scorers with 52 runs each, while
Deandra Dottin took 2/33 from her four
overs.
The West Indies, in a very controlled
reply, was never in serious trouble, as the
openers, Hayley Mathews and captain
Stafanie Taylor, batting well, put on 120
runs for the first wicket.
Mathews was the first to go, falling
for a top score of 66. Taylor went for 59
in the 19th over with her team well in
sight of victory, at 144.
Dottin and Britney Cooper then took
the West Indians home, overhauling the
Aussie ladies to end at 149/2.

Richie Stephens has recently collaborated with
the Italian reggae singer and producer duo Rankin
Lele and Papa Leo, to create a new musical project
named Richie Stephens and the Ska Nation Band.
Richie Stephens & Ska Nation Band is Jamaica
and Italy coming together in the mighty name of
Ska.
With his captivating voice and a sound that exhibits his passion from every note, Richie Stephens
and Ska Nation Band will release their new studio
album "Internationally" on April 15th on the Pot of

Based out of Italy, Richie Stephens and the SkaNation band came together to create a masterpiece,
which listeners can appreciate and become educated
at the same time.

The album starts with a single title 'Foundation',

which mentions some of the Ska greats and states
that 'Ska is the original sound, Jamaica's first big
music".
"I truly think ska music should be preserved and
respected by us as Jamaican people for being our
first international music" says Stephens. Connecting
with the Skanation band, whose name was given to
them by Richie Stephens, while in Italy last summer
at the Casalabate Festival, the creative bond was instant. The single 'Kingston Salento' shows the connection and love for ska on a global level. With half
of the album being completed in Italy and the other
half in Jamaica, 'Internationally' is also symbolic of
the passion and impact ska music has on a broader
spectrum of music lovers.

"This upcoming trip to Westmoreland

is very special to me, considering that I
grew up in Little London and attended Savanna La Mar Primary School which is actually about a quarter mile from the
Savanna La Mar Hospital" Dr Williams
said.
The need for proper dental care is
very great in this community, with many
people only seeking care whenever they are
in pain or develop some sort of dental infection, which normally ends up with the
offending tooth being extracted. We plan to
educate patients about proper dental hygiene and do basic procedures such as
cleaning, fillings and extractions he said.
Part of the goal of his team will be to
raise the awareness of the community to the
many advantages of seeking routine dental
care, emphasizing the link between proper

only part of the day to experience relief. Plus, when the
pain subsides, many are able

their use of pain medications,
which not only eliminates unwanted side effects but also
saves money.

Thats because the Federal Aviation

Hackensack Man dies

in fatal crash a city police

amily and neighbors on Friday mourned

the loss of a 67-year-old driver from
Hackensack as authorities continued to investigate the violent collision with a police
cruiser that had ended his life the day before.
Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal identified the dead man as
John Parham of Ross Avenue in a statement
Friday afternoon. The fatal crash with a
city police cruiser responding to an emergency call Thursday afternoon occurred
at the intersection of Parhams street and
Summit Avenue, about 3 blocks from his
home.
Parhams wife, Isabelle, declined to
speak to reporters Friday afternoon, having
just traveled 6 hours home from Virginia.
Her next-door neighbor, John Foschino, 60, remembered Parham fondly as
the first friend he made when he moved to

MARCH 19-31, 2016 STREET HYPE NEWSPAPER 15

the neighborhood 15 years ago.

He was a great neighbor, Foschino
said, recalling that Parham would often
plow his sidewalk after a snowstorm without even asking and would happily lend
him power tools. He was a good man.
The fatal crash occurred as a Hackensack police officer was responding to a report of an accident in Maywood at Spring
Valley Avenue and Coles Street, near the
Hackensack border. One of the vehicles involved in the Maywood crash, a motorcycle, had been eluding police earlier,
authorities said.
In the Hackensack crash, Grewal said,
the patrolman was in a marked cruiser traveling on Summit Avenue, which has a
posted speed limit of 35 mph. His statement
did not say anything about the speed of either vehicle.

BEAUTY CARE
How to Take Care of Your Hair

16 STREET HYPE NEWSPAPER MARCH 19-31, 2016

aintaining your hair is relatively easy

with the right kind of steps. Hair is
made of protein, so keeping a healthy diet
and good hygiene is an essential part of
maintaining luscious locks. At the same
time, here are some other tips about hair
care, and what you can do at home to get unbelievably beautiful hair.
Washing hair properly - Wash hair sparingly and use a good-quality shampoo.
Washing hair too often can leave hair dried
out, leached of its natural oils, and may damage your hair. Aim to shampoo your hair at
most every other day or even only twice a
week.
Take Care of Your Hair Step 22 - Try
shampoos that do not contain sulfates or
parabens. Sulfates are the chemicals that
make shampoos lather up. Parabens are
preservatives that cause irritation and eye
problems after prolonged use[2]. Both of
these chemicals aren't healthy for you or the
environment so try to use shampoos with
natural cleansers.

Choose a shampoo that suits your hair

type. Don't just go for any old shampoo; go

Condition your hair properly based on

hair type: For fine hair: If you have very
limp hair, try a botanical oil treatment before
you shampoo. Use lavender or tea-tree oil,
for example, and work it under your cuticles
before shampooing. Wash shampoo away
and apply conditioner from the mid-shaft
down to the end. Leave in for a minute before washing.

for the shampoo that works for your hair

type. Typical types include (but are not limited to): Curly or coarse hair probably wants
frizz-minimizing and softening shampoo.
Straight or oily hair probably wants a gentle
shampoo designed for daily washing. Colored or treated hair probably needs a shampoo that's fortified with extracts or amino
acids, because treating your hair is essentially damaging it. Dry hair probably needs
shampoos with glycerin and collagen to help
restore some moisture into the hair.

Use conditioner that matches your hair

type, length, and treatment damage. A
good rule of thumb is to condition every
time you shampoo your hair, although very
processed or dyed hair probably needs a little
more love than natural hair.
Deep condition once a week. Use a storebought hair care product, or venture out on
your own and try a homemade solution.
Deep conditioning is very good for your hair.
It keeps hair soft, healthy and moisturized.

For medium to thick hair, use a moisturizer with natural hydrators. Keep your
conditioner light. Apply conditioner all over
your head and let stay for 2-3 minutes. Be
careful about using hair care products with
too much protein. Too much protein can
leave your hair feeling desiccated and brittle.
While protein is the building block of
healthy hair, use conditioners that come with
balanced ingredients. Frizz-control serum
can be used in small quantities to tame
frizzes. Make sure you do not use too much,
and wash once a week with a deep-cleanse
shampoo to avoid build-up, which will leave
hair looking dull and flaky.

RS Wants You to Know About Schemes, Scams and Cons

"If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!" Don't become a victim to any scheme that offers instant wealth or exemption from your obligation as a United States citizen to
file tax returns and/or pay taxes. Some of these schemes can
literally cost you your life savings. Others can result in your
prosecution and imprisonment if you knowingly participate
in them.
Abusive Return Preparer
Taxpayers should be very careful when choosing a tax preparer. While most preparers provide excellent service to their
clients, a few unscrupulous return preparers file false and
fraudulent tax returns and ultimately defraud their clients. It
is important to know that even if someone else prepares your
return, you are ultimately responsible for all the information
on the tax return.
Abusive Tax Schemes
Abusive tax scheme originally took the structure of fraudulent domestic and foreign trust arrangements. However, these
schemes have evolved into sophisticated arrangements to
give the appearance that taxpayers are not in control of their
money. However, the taxpayers receive their funds through
debit/credit cards or fictitious loans. These schemes often involve offshore banking and sometimes establish scam corporations or entities.

Nonfiler Enforcement
There have always been individuals who, for a variety of reasons, argue taxes are voluntary or illegal. The courts have
repeatedly rejected their arguments as frivolous and routinely
impose financial penalties for raising such frivolous arguments. Take the time to learn the truth about frivolous tax arguments.

for Criminal Investigation
Criminal Investigation has categorized their investigative
cases into specific program and emphasis areas of fraud. Examples of case summaries written from public record documents where cases were prosecuted can be viewed on the

Tax Scams - How to Report Them

To help the public recognize and avoid abusive tax schemes,
the IRS offers an abundance of educational materials. Participating in an illegal scheme to avoid paying taxes can result
in imprisonment and fines, as well as the repayment of taxes
owed with penalties and interest. Education is the best way
to avoid the pitfalls of these too good to be true tax scams.

Teen Longs For A Baby

To Fill Her Broken Heart

Dear Divine Diva:

am a girl who has had my heart broken for the first time.
I know I should get over this boy, but I can't stop thinking about him. My mom loved him. We hung out every
weekend for six months.
I thought I might have been pregnant. I'm not -- but I
want to be. I know I'm not ready to be a mom, but I want
someone to love me and depend on me. I need someone
who won't leave me. I know my baby wouldn't.
Should I become a mom? How do I get over my
boyfriend? Do I stop talking to him and just be his friend?
DIVINE, tell me the right way.
- Lovesick In The Bronx.

Dear Lovesick:
Becoming a mother is not the way out of your heartache.
Any young woman considering having a child must ask
herself how she can provide financially and emotionally
for that child. Most teenaged girls who become pregnant
do not complete their high school education, and it has a
negative impact on their ability to provide for themselves
and their children.
The right way to work through this breakup is to talk
to your mother or another trusted adult about your feelings.
Stop trying to maintain contact with your former
boyfriend. To continue will only prolong your pain. Dedicate yourself to achieving the most you can for yourself in
sports and academics. It will give you less time to brood,
and the more you achieve the more sought-after you will
become.
It won't happen overnight. It will take time, concentration and dedication. If you take my advice you will
come out of this disappointment a much happier person.
But having a baby is not the answer. Always, Divine Diva

BY DIVINE DIVA

divinestreethype@gmail.com

He Leaves me
sitting at the table

Dear Divine Diva:

My friend "Robert" knows everyone in town. It creates a
huge distraction when we dine in a restaurant because he is
constantly looking around to see who else he knows. When
he spots someone, he leaves me sitting at the table to go and
say hello to the person.
If this happened once, it would be acceptable. But it
occurs continually throughout the meal and interrupts our
conversation. The fact that Robert is constantly scouting the
room for others to greet makes meaningful conversation
impossible because his mind is never fully present. I have
reached the point of no longer wanting to dine with him although he is a good friend. How would you recommend
resolving this? -- Alone At The Table, Long Isand

Dear Alone At The Table:

Have an honest talk with Robert, and explain how his
rudeness has made you feel. If his behavior continues, then
socialize with him in places where there are no distractions
-- like his home or yours. He may be insecure and feel a
compulsion to ingratiate himself with others, but constantly
leaving you alone at the table shows lack of consideration
for your feelings. Also, I find it curious that all those people
he knows do not come by your table to greet him -- and possibly be introduced, don't you? -Always, Divine Diva

Hangover healthy eating

-Courtesy of Nutritionist Resource

o you went to a party, drank too much or
just got carried away in front of Netflix
with that bottle of wine - the feeling you get
after overindulging can make you want to get
into healthy mode as soon as possible.
Below are some of the best tips on feeling fresh come Monday morning. Mood
boosting foods to brighten your day
You have a headache, you dont want to eat
and you want to hide in bed, never to face to
world. Instead of wallowing, try some of the
following:

Lemon water
Fizzy drinks and that appealing cup of coffee
wont make you feel better. Try instead a cold
glass of water with fresh lemon. Staying hydrated will make you feel 100% and the
lemon will bring your metabolism back to
life.
Fresh smoothies
If the idea of food repulses you, opt for a
smoothie with loads of berries. The berries
provide antioxidants, making you feel more
awake and the natural sugars will provide you
a lot more energy.
Eggs
Eggs and brown toast are a great start to the
day when feeling sorry for yourself. Acetaldehyde is causing your hangover and eggs
are high in amino acid, known to break down
the horrible feeling. Bread releases carbs
slowly; choosing brown or wholegrain is the
better option for an energy boost rather than
the fizzy drink you keep thinking about.
The evening after your long day can still
have you feeling strange and not wanting
much food. While there have been recom-

mendations to not drink again for at least two

days, new research has found that the body
needs up to two weeks to recover fully.

Berries

Potassium
Keep drinking water for the next few days.
The aftermath of a heavy drinking session
may leave you feeling weak, but it is important to keep eating healthily. Have a banana
to boost your mood.
Zinc
You may start to feel a lot better, but your
concentration may still be low. Zinc is brain
enhancing and pumpkin seeds are rich in it.
Snack on these or add them to your lunch.
Orange juice is good to have after a day
or two. If you drink it straight away, it will
add to the work your liver is doing trying to
get rid of all the alcohol. Vitamin C is important and great to introduce back into your diet
the next morning.
In terms of spicy food, it is advised to
avoid any of these until your stomach is back
to its full health. Chilli is great for boosting
metabolism, like the orange juice, it is best to
start eating spices a couple of days after the
hard night.
