India, Maldives signed six agreements
On 11 April 2016 India and Maldives singed six agreements to
promote the bilateral relations between the two countries.
These agreements were signed during the two-day official visit
of Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom in New
Delhi.

• Bilateral Agreement related to Orbit Frequency Coordination

exploratory surveys in Maldives
• MoU on cooperation in the field of Tourism
• Action Plan for Defence Cooperation

its CFO
Indus Towers is the country's largest telecom tower firm
offering infrastructure services to all telecom operators and
other wireless services providers.
It is an independently managed company.
On 11 April 2016 Indus Towers appointed Hemant Kumar Ruia
as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

10 April observed as World Homoeopathy Day
World Homoeopathy Day was observed on 10 April 2016. It
was organised by India.
The day celebrates the birth anniversary of Dr. Samuel
Hahnemann, a German Physician.
The day is observed by the international professional body of
Homeopaths named as Liga Medicorum Homoeopathica
Internationalis (LMHI).

Skill India is an initiative, launched by Prime Minister Narendra
Modi on 16 July 2015.
In the second week of April 2016 Union Government signed
Sachin Tendulkar to endorse the I Support Skill India
campaign.
The step is taken to reach out to the youth and build
awareness on the importance of skill development.

Scientists discovered way to predict earthquakes
Scientists from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) at its
Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) have discovered a way to
forecast earthquakes.
The ways were discovered to predict earthquakes based on
tremors or earthquakes below a Richter scale of 2.
The study was led by an Indian-origin researcher.
The study reveals that;

• The vibration patterns are caused by alternating slow and fast
ruptures occurring on the same patch of a fault.
• If only slow movements are detected, it does not mean that a
large earthquake cannot happen there.

Global Tiger population grew by 22%
On 10 April 2016 The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the Global
Tiger Forum (GTF) announced that, global wild tiger
populations have increased by 22%.
This rise in the number of tigers is found in India, Russia,
Nepal, and Bhutan.
The 3rd Asia Ministerial Conference on Tiger Conservation
takes off on 12 April 2016 in New Delhi.
