On 13 April 2016 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly approved the Prohibition of Social Boycott Bill 2016.
The bill seeks to crack down on extra-judicial bodies like caste and community panchayats.
By this, Maharashtra is set to become the first state to enact such a law.
As per the Bill;
• Indulging in social boycott is treated as a crime.
• The bill provides for prohibition of social boycott of a person or group of persons, including their family members as an individual or as a group like caste panchayat.
• Social boycott is prohibited and its commission shall be an offence.
• Punishment for the offence will be seven years in prison or fine up to 5 lakh rupees or both.
• The victim or any member of the victim's family may file a complaint either through the police or directly to the magistrate.
• Social Boycott Prohibition Officers will be appointed to detect the commission of offences, to assist the magistrate and police officers.
• The burden of proving that no offence under this Act have been committed, shall lie on the accused.

On 13 April 2016 Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched ‘Mission Drinking Water.
The mission was launched in the conditions of recurring droughts and severe water crisis in Marathwada and Vidarbha.
The government has adopted a two-pronged strategy to scale up drought reduction through Mission Drinking Water.
The mission ensures changes in crop pattern to sustain wholistic development.
Every distant village in drought districts had been provided a roadmap and adequate budget.
MoU signed, between India and South Korea.
On 13 April 2016 Union Road, Transport and Highways and Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari and South Korea Oceans and Fisheries Minister Kim Young Suk signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Mumbai.
The purpose of this MoU is, cooperation and mutual assistance between India and Republic of Korea in port related matters.
The MoU will help both countries to encourage the development of ports, port related industry, and maritime relationship
It will also encourage the sharing of technology and experiences in the fields of port development.
Information on construction, building, engineering in the field of port development will be exchanged. Experts including officials from the relevant ministries of each country will be exchanged.
ONGC took over Tapti gas field infrastructure.
On 14 April 2016 Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) took over the infrastructure of Tapti gas field in western offshore, from its joint venture partners Reliance Industries and BG.
ONGC took over the Tapti gas field infrastructure to boost up the Daman gas Production.
This merger will help ONGC save about Rs 4,000 crore.
ONGC planned to advance gas producing with the infrastructure in place.
It also planned to lay a pipeline from the Daman field to the Tapti process platform.
