: Mr. Salaivallan, S/o. Meivalisivapathianander, Keelakuruchi,
Annavasal block, Pudukkottai. (Phone - 9942122078)
He completed 9th standard at Kangeyam, Coimbatore district.
He started his carrier as electrician (erection and maintenance in
spinning and different type of mills) during 1982 2001. He was not
satisfied with his electrician work. Finally he decided to take up
another profession. He migrated to Keelakuruchi village of
Annavasal block, Pudukkottai district and chose started mushroom
cultivation with his family member and produce oyster and milky
mushroom throughout the year (> 300days).
Currently he is producing 10 kg of oyster and milky mushroom
every day. He is well trained in spawn production. He is to producing
mother spawn and bed spawn for his own use and 1000 numbers of
bed spawn per month. He also selling bed spawn and mother spawn

: Trainings on mushroom cultivation, spawn production and value
addition were organized at KVK,Pudukkottai.
Mushroom production, spawn production and value addition were
demonstrated to the trainees.

: Mushroom shed has been maintained temperature and relative
humidity (Layout of drip lateral tube was fixed inside the shed and
watering though the drip fogger system) to produce oyster mushroom

: Based on his strong skill and confident he can able to cultivate
mushroom during off season. He has been produce oyster and milky
mushroom throughout a year. After the mushroom harvest remaining
bed straw was used as manure for his own use.
Finally his economic status and family income is improved due

to mushroom cultivation are provided his family as healthy

: He is a master trainer for mushroom cultivation and spawn
production. Nearly more than 5000 numbers of people was trained
by him.
He is a mushroom trainer to SHG, NABARD, PNB FTC, IFFCO and
other bank organized training.
B.Sc., Agricultural students and Diploma in Agriculture students
were visited his mushroom unit and shared his experience.
In KVK he delivered lecture cum demonstration and shared his
experience in mushroom training programmes to the farming

: Through the mushroom cultivation his economic status was
improved. He can able to get regular income throughout year from
mushroom and spawn selling.
Income:
a. Oyster mushroom - 10 kg per day @ Rs. 175/- per kg for 30
days = Rs. 52,500/- per month as gross return
b. Milky mushroom - 10 kg per day @ Rs. 200/- per kg for 30
days = Rs. 60000/- Per month as Gross Return
c. spawn production 500 bed spawn sold per month @ Rs. 35/
per spawn = Rs. 17500/- month
Monthly gross income:
1. oyster mushroom - Rs.52,500.00
2. Milky mushroom - Rs.60,000.00
3. spawn Produciton - Rs.17,500.00
Total

- Rs. 1,30,000.00

Gross Cost

- Rs. 40,000.00
