SUFFOLK CHAPTER NEWS

From the Chapter Chairmans Desk

My Dear Brother Knights,
This is a reminder that our May Chapter meeting will be held at
Mother Cabrini Council in Coram on the THIRD FRIDAY IN MAY (MAY
20TH). We will be honoring our Clergy at this meeting. If you intend to bring
your Chaplain to this meeting please make sure to contact Chairman Norm
Wagner if you have not already done so. It is extremely important to have
an accurate count. We will also be doing the Living Rosary.
I would like to thank John and Amelia Joseph for the great job that
they once again did on the Communion Breakfast. There were 109 people
in attendance . By passing the hat for donations for Birthright, over $400.00
was collected along with a tremendous amount of baby items and clothing.
Thank you to all who participated.
I would also like to thank Chairman of the Board John Mastrosimone
and his Board of District Deputies for the great job that they did on the Night
at the Races that they hosted to benefit the Sunrise Fund and the FAC
Program. Do to a conflict of interest, I was attending the Nassau Chapter
Charity Ball, but I understand that it was a huge success. Thanks to all who
were involved, and those who attended.
John Lazar is the Chairman of the Nominating Committee. Please
contact him if you intend to run for an office for next year. The elections
will be held at OLOR in Deer Park on June 17th, which is the THIRD
Friday in June. We are still in need of a Treasurer, please consider running
for this position.
Gene Johann has planned a great golf outing. It will be held at Port
Jefferson Country Club on Monday May 9, 2016, which is the new date that
was postponed from April 11th. Dinner will be provided by Lombardis on the
Sound, and the cost is $160.00 per golfer. It should be a very enjoyable
day. Dont forget to sign up for this, you wont be disappointed. If you are
unable to attend, sponsor signs are available for purchase. Please refer to
the flyer in this issue.
As you know Paul Basileo and his team are hard at work on our
current Charity Drive. Please give them your full support to make this fund
raiser a success. They would appreciate any assistance
that you can provide, whether it is selling Charity Drive
Books or Soliciting ads for our journal. Now is the time
to make your reservations for the Charity Ball on
June 26th. It prevents a lot of confusion if your
reservations are made early, instead of waiting until
the last minute.
There are several fund raisers that are planned to
support the Sunrise Fund. Please make every effort to
attend and support them.

In 1954, lobbying by the Order of the Knights of Columbus

helped convince the U.S. Congress to add the phrase "under
God" to the Pledge of Allegiance. President Dwight
Eisenhower wrote to Supreme Knight Luke E. Hart thanking
the Knights for their "part in the
movement to have the words 'under God'
added to our Pledge of Allegiance."
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United
States of America, and to the republic for
which it stands, one nation under God,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Happy Mothers Day

Prayer for the Canonization of Father Michael J. McGivney

God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan, you called your priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, to be an
apostle of Christian family life and to lead the young to the generous service of their neighbor. Through the example of his
life and virtue may we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commandment of charity and building up
his Body which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant prompt us to greater confidence in your love so that we
may continue his work of caring for the needy and the outcast. We humbly ask that you glorify your servant
Father Michael J. McGivney on earth according to the design of your holy will. Through his intercession, grant the favor
I now present (here make your request). Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father.
