THE ACADEMIC CULTURE TEAM PRESENTS…
COLLEGE SPIRIT DAY
Friday December 7, 2007
The rationale of our first event is to increase student awareness of college options using teachers’ undergraduate alma
maters as points of celebration and discussion.
1. Please e-mail Bethany with your undergraduate college colors: bethany.cureton@gmail.com
2. From there The Academic Culture team will place a pennant with those colors in your mailbox for you to write your
college's name on.
3. On Friday, December 7, please post the pennant on your door and wear your college's shirt and/school colors. This
will be a dress down day for staff.
4. Please take a moment during or at the end of classes Dec. 7 to share some thoughts about your college experience
with students.
•KUDOS to the Student Activities Team for organizing the incredible Thanksgiving Banquet and all the staff that
participated in and supported the celebration. If you want to see a cool slide show from the event ask Kim Burgie to
show you his photos. Reminders & Announcements cont. on next page.

• 11th and 12th Grade Advisors DO YOU WANT TO HELP STUDENTS GRADUATE (we’re assuming this is a
rhetorical question)? Please call your advisee’s families and tell parents remind them about Saturday test prep from 9:30 a.m. -
1 p.m.

• REMINDER ON PD ROUND #3 Nov 29:

Cohort 2: 1st Hr visit Ricky Koodie Cohort 3: 3rd Hr visit Jasmine Harper Cohort 4: 7th Hr visit Manal Grant

•REMINDER+CAL CHANGE: PD Cohort Round #4 will be Dec 5-7 . Baylor will be observed in Jen Gowers’ spot on W
12.5 - 6th Hour due to a Jr. field trip. As a result Jen flipped to W 1.09 – 6th Period. Please be mindful of the observation
schedule. Only two changes have been made because of schedule conflicts not because people “don’t like your day.”

•HEADS UP! Many visitors will continue to come by BK in the upcoming months for various reasons. Sometimes, due to
the nature of these visitors’ schedules we can’t always give the kind of advance notice some might like. To those ends it
is important to remember your classroom is a public space and you should always be putting your best pedagogical
foot forward every day with or without an outside observer. COMING SOON: a visit from the Council of School Supervisors
and Administrators President Ernie Logan. Date and time TBA.
