No doubt.ُ‫لُس ِفينمةُُصالِحةُُ مغ ْص ًبا‬ ُ‫هُم ِلكُُيأخذُُك َ م‬ ُ ‫انُأممام‬ ُ ‫انُيقرأُُو مك‬ ُ ‫يُو مك‬ ُ ‫الُس ِعيدُُ ْبنُُجب‬ ُ‫ُ مق م‬.ُ"ُ‫ِبا‬ ‫ت‬ ‫س‬ ُ ُ ‫و‬ ‫أ‬ ‫ِب مت‬ ِ ِ ‫م‬ ‫ِ م م‬ ‫م م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م م‬ ‫م م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ْ ْ ُُ‫اءُع ْصفور‬ ُ ‫الُ"ُوج‬ ُ‫ُ مق م‬. "Do you remember when we took refuge at the boulder. So they went back retracing their footsteps step by step. There the (servant) boy told Moses. Yusha` bin Noon and carried a fish in a large basket till they reached a large boulder. "Once the Prophet (‫ )ﷺ‬Moses stood up and addressed Bani Is rael.ُ‫تُ مش ْي ًئاُنكرًا‬ ُ ‫جئ‬ ُ‫د‬ ُ ‫يُ منفسُُلم مق‬ ُِ ‫تُ منف ًساُ مزا ِكي ُةُ ِب مغ‬ ُ ‫وسُأ م مق متل‬ ُ ‫الُم‬ ُ‫ُ مف مق م‬. And the shaytaan was the one that made me forget and it really did make its way into the sea strangely. Khadir said to him: What is as-Salam in your country.ُ"ُ‫وسُن ِ ْسيانًا‬ ُ ‫نُم‬ ُْ ‫ولُ ِم‬ ُ ‫تُاأل م‬ ُِ ‫ان‬ ‫اللُِصىلُاللُعليهُوسلمُ"ُ مك‬ ُ‫الُرسولُُ َ م‬ ُ‫الُو مق م‬ ُ‫ُ مق م‬. Moses said to his young companion boy: "Bring us our early meal.ُ"ُ‫نُالبح ُِر‬ ُ ‫الع ْصفورُُ ِم‬ ‫م م‬ ‫م م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م م م م م م م م م م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م م م م م‬ ‫م‬ ْ .ُ‫نُعذ ًرا‬ َُ ِ ‫نُ مَل‬ ُ ‫تُ ِم‬ ُ ‫دُب ملغ‬ ُ ‫حبنِيُ مق‬ ‫ال مُتصا‬ ُ ‫نُ مَشءُُبع مد مهاُ مف‬ ُ ‫كُع‬ ُ‫نُس مألت م‬ ُ ‫الُ ِإ‬ ُ‫ُ مق م‬.ُُ‫ائل‬ ‫ضُفأق‬ ُ ‫نُينق‬ ُ ‫اراُي ِريدُُأ‬ ‫ض ِ َيفوهماُ مفوج مداُ ِف‬ ُ ‫اس متط معماُأمه مل مهاُ مف مأبواُأ م‬ ُ ‫أه‬ ‫ضرُُ ِبي ِد ُِهُ مه م‬ ِ ‫خ‬ ِ ‫ُ ميقولُُ مم‬. So it was an amazing thing for both Moses and his (servant) boy. lay down) and slept. So Moses set out along with his assistant boy.ُ"ُ‫ار ِهما‬ ‫نُأمخب‬ ُ ‫ع مل ْينماُ ِم‬ ِ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ْ ْ ْ ْ ْ ْ ْ ْ ُ‫صُ مه مذا‬ ُ ‫لُماُ من مق‬ ُ ‫ل مُمث‬ َُ ‫اللُِإ‬ ُ ُ‫م‬ ُ ‫نُعل‬ ُ ‫كُم‬ ُ ‫صُ ِعل ِميُو ِعلم‬ ُ ‫ضرُُماُ من مق‬ ‫لُالخ‬ ُ ‫الُ م‬ ُ‫ُ مف مُق م‬. where they laid their heads (i. "O my Lord! How can I meet him or get to him?" Allah said: Take a fish in a large basket (and proceed) and you will find him exactly at the place where you lose the fish.ُ‫ول‬ ُ ‫نُاأل م‬ ُ ‫دُ ِم‬ َُ ‫الُو مه ِذ ُِهُأ م مش‬ ُ‫ِباُ مق م‬ ِ ‫م‬ ‫م م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ْ ْ ْ ْ ْ ْ ْ ْ ْ ُُ‫لُق ْرية‬ ً ‫جد‬ ُ‫ك مذا‬ ُ‫ُ مق م‬. till they reached the boulder where they were originally.ُ‫فُالبح ُِر‬ ُ ِ ُ‫ثُ من مق ُر‬ ُ ُ‫الس ِفينم ُِة‬ ُ‫ف‬ ُِ ‫ىلُح ْر‬ ُ ‫حتىُوق ُعُع‬ ‫م‬ َ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م َم م م م م م م‬ َ ‫م‬ ‫م ِ ِ ِ َم ِ ِ م م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م ِ م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ْ ْ ْ ْ ْ ْ ْ ْ ُ‫انُيقرأُُوأ م َ مما‬ ُ ‫ُو مك‬. When the day broke. Moses greeted him. There they saw a man completely covered with a garment (or covering himself with his own garment). So Allah inspired to him "At the junction of the two seas there is a slave amongst My slaves who knows more than you. Moses remarked. So Allah held the first on the surface of the water.e. we have suffered much fatigue in this journey." Allah reprimanded Moses as he did not attribute absolute knowledge to Him (Allah). "Who is the man who knows more amongst the people?” He said. I indeed forgot the fish.ُُ‫امه‬ ‫نُي م‬ ‫هياُ ِ م‬ ‫الُال م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م م م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م م م َم م م م م‬ ‫م م م م‬ ‫م‬ ‫م‬ ْ ْ ْ ْ ْ ْ ُ‫ك‬ ُ‫كُسأ من َِبئ م‬ ُ‫الُ مه مذاُ ِفراقُُب ْينِيُوب ْينِ م‬ ُ‫ُ مق م‬." Moses did not get tired till he passed the place that Allah had commanded him to be. He was asked. "I know more." The fish looked unreal to both Moses and his young companion.

He said: Yes. If you wish you can get wages for it. Moses (peace be upon him) said to him: May I follow you so that you may teach me that with which you have been taught ? He said: You will not be able to bear with me. and Sa'id b. Moses said: Have you killed an innocent pure person who is in no way guilty of slaying another? You have done something horrible completely unheard of. Thereupon. Allah's Messenger (‫ )ﷺ‬said. He said: Did I not say that you would not bear patience with me? He said: Blame me not for what I forgot and don’t be difficult upon what I did. Khidr pulled up his head and killed him and yanked and snapped his neck. a sparrow came and sat at the very edge of the ship and it pecked into the ocean once or twice. You purposely with full consciousness built their wall. then do not ask me about anything until I myself speak to you about it. Then there came a sparrow until it perched on the wall of the boat and took water from the ocean. keep not company with me. Khadir thereupon took hold of a plank in the boat and axed and yanked out a board from the boat and broke it away. Khadir said to him: If you were to follow me. So Khadir and Moses set forth on the bank of the river that there came before them a boat. Basically you’ve got all the justification to let me go.Pa g e |3 He said: I am Moses. said to him: It is the people to whom we came but they showed us no hospitality and they did not serve us food. Then they both walked on until they reached the inhabitants of a village. Then both of them got down from the boat and out of the sea and began to walk along the coastline that they saw a boy who had been playing with other boys. Both of them talked to them (the owners of the boat) so that they might carry both of them. They both asked its inhabitants for food but they refused to entertain them or show them hospitality as their guests. So the first excuse that Musa presented in his defense was forgetfulness. They had recognised Khadir and they carried them free of charge. how you will be able to bear that about which you do not know and only have partial knowledge of? Moses said: You will find me patient. They found in it a wall which had been bent on one side and was tipping/leaning and was about to fall. Thereupon he said: Did I not say to you that you will not be able to bear with me? He (Moses) said: If I ask you about anything after this. He (Khadir) said: This is the parting of ways between me and you. and I will not disobey you at all. then you would no doubt find (a plausible) excuse for this. Moses. May Allah have mercy upon Moses! I wish if Moses could have shown patience all along and a (fuller) story of both of them could have been told to us! Allah's Messenger (‫ )ﷺ‬said that the first thing which Moses said was out of forgetfulness. Khidr then told Musa: the knowledge you and I have from within the knowledge banks of Allah has not taken anything away or diminished from His knowledge except like the droplet that this bird has just pecked from the ocean. When they got on the boat. Khadir said: My knowledge and your knowledge in comparison with the knowledge of Allah is even less than the water taken by the sparrow in its beak in comparison to the water of the ocean. Now I wish to reveal to you the significance of that for which you could not bear patience with me. jubair used to recite (verses 79 and 80 of Sura Kahf) in © 2015 Bayyinah TV . Khidr set it right with his own hand. whereupon he (Khadir) said: You mean the Moses of Bani Isra'il? He said: Yes. Moses said: What have you? These people have carried us without any charge and you attempt to break their boat so that the people sailing in the boat may drown? You have evil intent to purposely damage them! This is (something) grievous and terrible that you have done. He (Khadir) said: You have a knowledge out of the knowledge of Allah which in fact Allah imparted to you and about that I know nothing and I have knowledge out of Allah's knowledge which He imparted to me and about that you do not know.

And things that are completely harmless for us to say. you can say who knows more.  So he couldn’t have missed prayers a few ayahs later  When you’ve acquired knowledge.  The gifts and blessings we have been given have good and bad in them o Water is life but water can also kill  A student will lose patience and when they do. it is because they held to a higher standard. o One’s patience with their teacher and their ability to accept that they wouldn’t understand everything o It is important to comprehend that what we know is a drop and what the reality of things are is the ocean  How is this connected to the fitnah and trials of the future that the Ummah will face in its future? o One of the most difficult things that the Ummah will have to learn is how to face harsh realities. it’s branches humble. When a tree bears fruit. No. people will begin to question their faith and would say things like ‘everything is happening to us because of faith. the boy was an unbeliever. And everytime we face them we will get overwhelemed with grief and frustration  And when that happens we will be told what Khidr told Musa that we don’t have enough patience to bear  We need to understand that when these fitnahs are happening and this injustice is happening. o The story of Suleiman in the Quran in Surah Saad makes it seem like he missed a prayer because he was taking care of his horses. Prophets have a higher standard than normal people. it should make you humble. However. He simply developed a bulge on his forehead but yet the ayahs came down of Surah ‘Abasa o So it isn’t that Prophets made mistakes because they are human. Lessons from this Hadith  In a given context.’ o The first remedy to that in this particular piece of the Surah is humility in knowledge  One recognizing that we don’t understand everything and being content with that and realizing it © 2015 Bayyinah TV .Pa g e |4 this way: There was before them a king who used to seize every boat by force which was in order. So people will not want to be Muslim anymore.  That tafsir of the ayah is not accepted and it is difficult to accept it because in the previous ayahs Allah describes him as someone who unusually remembers Allah a lot. their journey to learning more will end. Allah will hold prophets to a higher standard o Same with Prophet Muhammad as he is reprimanded in the Quran because he got frustrated at a blind man.
