The Internet, also called "the Net" is a worldwide system of networks in computer is a
linkage of networks in which users at any place can be connected to other computers and get
information from any other partys computer. The original aim was to create a network that
would allow users of a research computer at one university to communicate to research
computers at other universities because messages could be routed and rerouted in many
directions, the network could continue to work even if parts of it were destroyed. The Internet
is a public, cooperative and self-sustaining facility accessible to billions of people around the
globe. This internet uses a portion of the total resources of the current public
telecommunication networks. For most internet users, electronic mails practically is replacing
the postal service for short written transactions. Using the internet you have access to billions
of pages of information. The Internet has continued to grow and evolve over the years of its
existence.
Internet Usage-Internet usage is the measurement of the amount of data transferring through
your computer and the Internet network for a defined time. These data are transferred in two
directions: from the Internet network to our computer (download), and from our computer to
the internet network (upload). It could referring to surfing the net, sending emails, online
games, various downloads or using network gaming consoles, any activity on the net
generates internet usage.

Explain how you select the sample to ensure it is representative of the population.
Cluster Sampling(probability sampling) Method will be used to get the most relevant sample
for this study. This will be done by focusing twenty villages on the island and in every village
twenty five young Takupa will be given the questionnaire for the survey. The reason for
choosing this method is due to the number of sample involved in this survey is big. About one
third of the total population is aged between 18 to 30 years and that will be 50,000. If the
survey is taking 1% of them then we need to collect 500 set of complete questionnaires filled
up. The Cluster Sampling will overcome the constraints of money and time. The
questionnaires will be posted to all the selected young Takupa in the sample villages and the
completed questionnaires will then be posted back to the surveyor. The results from the
sample will be generalised and inductively project to a larger group of the whole population
in this small island. This method of sampling can be cost effective and can be administered to
large groups of people. The assurance of anonymity in posting out the questionnaires will
increases the likelihood that the responses are genuine and reflective of the opinions,
perception and beliefs of respondents.

Constructing a few good research questions is the priority step in a research process. These
research questions have to be well written and they will guide the research project and assist
in the construction of a logical argument. The characteristics of the research questions are
question accuracy, focuses which summarizes the issue that will be investigated. Some
research questions express out the researchers intention onto the relationship of particular
variables with the appropriated theories and concepts. Some research questions are intended
to open an area for possibilities to house new theories and concepts. Creating a research
question is a hard task, good research questions are built and worked on. We have to start
with what interests us, and we will then refine it until it is workable. The research questions
for this research are as below.
1. What is internet usage towards the young community of Takupa( those between
the age of 18 and 30)?
2. Where do the young community of Takupa normally search the internet?
3. When they are online, what kind of activites do they normally do?
4. How does this internet usage benefited to their quality of life?
5. What are the drawbacks of heavy internet usage towards this young community of
Takupans?
c)
4. Working hours of the internet users. It is regarding how many hour they spend for
their everyday working.
5. Gender of the internet users in this group of young community of Takupans. The
gender for the selected sample in the group of young Takupans will be recorded as male or
female.

even spend a big portion of their income for the internet service. The mind-set of this
respondent group are an indicator for us.
Q7. What is your most frequent purpose to go on internet?
To see the main reasons they connect and stay connected on the internet. The main purpose
for them to use internet will be asked in the questionnaire. This is to see what they actually
want from the internet. The activities could be searching for information, looking for a
location, online shopping, online studies, chatting with friends or purely for entertainments.
Q8. How many hour do you spend on internet game in one week?
This question is especially designed to check the misuse of the internet by them. In order to
judge that this group of young community from the Takupa is wisely allocating the ideal
duration of time for themselves to use the internet or not.
Q9. How many hour do you work in one day?
To see whether their daily internet usage is dependent on their working hours in a day. As the
working hours will affect their free time and this will influence the time they spend on the
internet.
Q10. Is your job required you to use computer most of the time?
To check whether their daily work involve using computer and internet. The reason of having
this question is to determine the relationship between the type of jobs and the rate of internet
usage among the young Takupa. If the type of jobs require a long hours of computer using
that might also increase the rate of internet usage.
