Preguntas en ingls
Presentan muchos problemas a los alumnos, por qu? Porque es diferente al
espaol! Por tanto, siempre en mente a la hora de hacer una pregunta en ingls,
debes decirte a ti mismo, OJO! VOY A PRESTAR ATENCIN PARA NO
EQUIVOCARME!
Las preguntas en ingls necesitan AUXILIAR. Qu es un auxiliar? Una palabra
que, como su nombre indice, auxilia o ayuda a los dems elementos de la
pregunta. Sin l, los dems elementos se caen al suelo y no se puede formular la
pregunta!

PRESENT SIMPLE: QW (QUESTION WORD) + AUXILIARY + SUBJECT + INFINITIVE + COMPLEMENT?

Debes saber las question words:
What?

Who? How? Why?

When? Where? Which? Whose?

Tambin que llamamos infinitivo al verbo tal cual, sin conjugar: read, write, eat, run, sleep, etc
El auxiliar de present simple es do y does para 3 persona del singular (he, she, it)
Ejemplo:
Do (Aux)
Where (QW)

you (Subj)
Do (Aux)

work (Inf)?
you (S)

work (I)?

Where does he work?

Recuerda que la question word puede aparecer o no. Segn lo que queramos decir.
PAST SIMPLE: QW (QUESTION WORD) + AUXILIARY + SUBJECT + INFINITIVE + COMPLEMENT?
El auxiliar de past simple es did.
Ejemplo:

Did (Aux)

you (Subj)

go (Inf)

to (C) work (C) yesterday (C)?

Acurdate de que el verbo to be y los verbos modales (por ejemplo can) no necesitan auxiliar y se ponen ellos
en la posicin donde estara el auxiliar.
Ejemplo:

Are you a teacher?

Can you play the guitar?

TO BE + SUBJECT + COMPLEMENT?
CAN + SUBJECT + INFINITIVE + COMPLEMENT?

Explicado esto, ahora nos tocan las questions without auxiliares.

Vamos con un ejemplo:
Who wrote Pillards of the Earth?
Aqu necesitamos un poco de morfologa y sintaxis, porque tenemos que analizar los elementos de la oracin:
Who: question word

Wrote: verb in past simple

Pillards of the Earth: complement
Nos tenemos que preguntar: quin es el sujeto de la pregunta? Verdad que no tenemos ni una persona
(you, he,o cualquier otra), ni un nombre de persona, ni una cosa? Los no lingistas pueden decir no hay sujeto,
en cambio, para los lingistas, el sujeto, es Who. Sea como sea, lo importante es que no se necesita
auxiliar (did), lo veis? En este caso, la regla es la siguiente:
QW (SUJETO) + VERB conjudado en el tiempo correspondiente, en este caso past simple) + complement?
Otro ejemplo:
What happened yesterday?
What = subject
Happened = verb in past simple
Yesterday = complement
Rule: QW (SUBJ.) + VERB + COMPLEMENT?
Otro ejemplo:
What time does the film start?
En esta question veis que s tenemos auxiliar, y por qu? Bien, vamos a analizarla a ver qu pasa:
What time = QW
Does = auxiliary (de present simple)
The film = subject
Start = infinitive
Cmo saber que the film es el sujeto? Preguntamos al verbo SIEMPRE quin o qu . Hacemos la prueba:
Qu es lo que empieza? = la pelcula, entonces SUBJECT = THE FILM
Sin embargo, en la pregunta anterior: What happened yesterday? Si preguntamos: qu ocurri ayer? En la
pregunta no tenemos la respuesta, por tanto, el sujeto es What y no hay auxiliar!
Deciros que slo hay unas cuantas QUESTION WORDS que pueden llevar auxiliar o no llevarlo. stas son: who,
what, which. Sin embargo, when, where, why y how siempre han de llevar auxiliar.
Ejemplo:
What do you like doing in your free time? (con auxiliar) OR What happened yesterday? (sin auxiliar)
Where did you go yesterday night? (siempre con auxiliar)

sometimes you dont.

4. The Athenians sentenced Socrates to death in 399 BC.
5. Aristotle taught Alexander the Great.

7. Apollo and Artemis were born in Delos, according to legend.
8. Gema saw a fox cub.
9. Gema saw a fox cub.
10. Tony broke the video.
