Club Challenges-Personal Graphic Design Logos

Think about a design that would look good on stationary, business cards or
even your car’s windows. This could be computer generated, hand drawn,
or cut and pasted. Graphic designs are a fun way to express yourself
and could be a way to make added income. The possibilities are endless.

May Library Art Show-postponed.

May ANAC Art Show

Wonderful show! I hope everyone had a chance to
see it. Eighteen pieces were chosen to be sent to
state. The show will be taken down May 29th. After
the 29th, you may pick up your piece in the store
room in the meeting room. Remember that ANAC
pieces must have Plexiglas on them or they will be
disqualified from the judging.
The Mini Challenge Show
featuring Joan Swim, Pat
Schemmer and Nancy
Blumenstock will be postponed
until library renovations are
completed. Try to get to the May show before it is taken
down and shipped to state.

March, 2010 Minutes

The Sand Painters Art Guild met April 24, 2010 at the Library meeting room in Valentine, NE. In the morning the “Then
and Now Show” was taken down. Each member brought works of art eligible for the ANAC. Two pieces were selected
by the members present to be entered in the state show. Lunch was enjoyed at Cedar Canyon Restaurant. While orders
were taken the original Wilma Schaffert work of art was drawn for. Debby Galloway was the lucky winner.

Jenny Reece, local Art for Youth director, requested artists to spend time with beginning artists on the 2nd Saturday
afternoon of each month starting July 10th at 1:00 p.m.

A motion was made to donate $50, $25 per person, to Lindsey Ferguson and Emily Heerton from Springview to help them
attend the “Water color in the black Hills” with Joan Swim. Motion passed.

The bill for the Pamida windows was submitted and was to pick up payment in the following days.

Nancy Blumenstock shared that a college level art and music school was being started in honor of Shawn Funk. They are
asking for donations of works of art for resale. Contact Nancy for information.

Celeste Sullivan thanked the members of the Sand Painters for the memorial money donated for her mother but returned it
as a donation to the club.

A good time was had at the nature conservancy for the spring retreat. Hedda Matheson, Nancy Blumenstock, Joan Swim,
June Sheppard, and Claudia Bestol stayed in the Crew’s cabin, very relaxing and productive.

The meeting adjourned.

The group returned to the library and hung the ANAC Spring Show.

Sketchbook: Are you using yours? Can’t live without it???

Hey all---get a sketchbook--any sketchbook---and get ready to use it this year. Carry it with you at all times and
have some fun drawing supplies to go with. A zip lock bag works really well to hold supplies. Upcoming will
be an Internet link to ideas for sketchbook/journal entries. (The sketchbooks can be very simple and inexpensive
or more elaborate---you decide.)

Resumes are due. If you have your resumes done, you can e-mail or hard copy them to
