Lesson Description: Students learn animal vocabulary through various writing and speaking activities. They also practice
question formation and learn common expressions used to talk about animals.

Put students in pairs. Student A has half of the
information. Student B has the other half. Students
have to guess the missing information. When the
charts are filled out, they practice making sentences
out loud. Walk around as your students are making
sentences to help with proper sentence formation.
Encourage and model proper sentence formation
for asking questions, too.

Spelling Note: This lesson shows the American spelling of
the words Colorful, Behavior, Color, Favorite, and Practice
(V). Most other English-speaking countries spell
these words this way: Colourful, Behaviour,
Colour, Favourite, and Practise (V).

After filling out the cards, you could cut these out
for a game of Who am I? Place one card on the
back of each student. Set them out into a forest,
zoo or jungle. They have to guess which
animal they are: Do I swim? Do I have four legs?

themselves. Then, have them complete the survey
by talking to their classmates. Have a class
discussion by asking questions to your students.
