Profit from Horse Racing It is very easy to become sceptical when reading articles on the internet on the subject of making profit from Horse Racing when most appear to be inconsequential, devoid of any meaningful content and written for marketing purposes to promote or sell a product or for you to become an email address in their spamming campaign. What makes it even harder to sort the wheat from the chaff is that even well intentioned advice such as this will only get out there by using the same mediums as those used by the marketing fraternity. To put your mind a rest can I point out that my intent and motivation is purely to prove that a profit can be made from horse racing if you can show the right temperament and patience. All the work and research, in fact, everything I publish on my blogs is completely free so I am NOT selling anything. From a very early age to the present day I have been interested in analytics. Pawing over Greyhound Race cards from my local track looking for patterns and percentages at the age of 14 would not constitute a normal childhood but it was obviously in my blood. During my evolution I always came back to the same conclusion in that ‘time was king’. There have been times in life when frustration got the better of me and although the form books never went out the window they would be locked away out of sight. In time I would always return like a smoker without a cigarette; something was missing in my life if I was not studying form. My angle is based upon speed figures that I compile for All Weather racing which are free to view on my blogs. One would think that a free service providing a yearly profit would be in great demand and during the highs visitors come in their thousands. I watch the peaks and troughs of traffic volume as they mirror my own personal highs and lows. This for me highlights the one single factor which prevents so many from profiting from Horse Racing and I speak from personal experience. Most people looking for profitable horse racing systems or services suffer from the misconception that what is being offered is a never ending stream of winner after winner and a bulging bank account within in days. Good opportunities are frequently passed over in favour of those who use false advertising and bold claims of instant wealth as their hook. The reality for those of us providing a service with some longevity is somewhat different. I have been making money from horse racing for the past 5 years and I am sure I am not alone when I say I have little to no control over how much profit I make. I am also sure I will not be alone when I say I have little to no control over when the profit is likely to materialise. Let me offer you this scenario. You have visited my blog and note or even possibly back the top rated horses in a 7 race card at Lingfield which subsequently lose. The next day the same thing happens again. The third day the last 2 of the 7 win at 14-1 and 10-1. If you stayed with me over the three days you have made a profit. The most likely scenario is that you did not come back on day two and if you did there was no way you were coming back on day three. The reversal of this would have the same effect where the first two selections win at 10-1 and 14-1. At the end of day 3 you are still in profit but with the last 19 horses losing you move on regardless. For those unfamiliar with my work and that have not visited my blogs I will use http://horse--racing-tips.blogspot.com as I believe this gives the best examples. I publish to this blog the LTO ratings for each horse running at an All Weather venue the following day. While I was breaking down profit and loss in to race types it became apparent that although it was profitable to blindly back my top rated

posted on http://horse--racing--tips.blogspot.com/, greater profit could be made by backing my top rated in Handicap races only. Handicap races did show a decreased strike rate but as they were invariably more competitive, the prices were far more generous and this accounts for the increased profit. Below shows a breakdown of progress over 2010 to date and what I believe to be a more realistic picture and profile of a winning method. January 2010 Summary All top Rated 326 bets +42.54 points @ SP, Only Handicaps 208 bets +65.66 points @ SP So a reasonable profit with lots of interest throughout the month but let us break it down day by day and see if we feel so comfortable.

Most people following my selections would be a little frustrated by the three periods of loss sustained over three consecutive periods (4t--5thJan, 10th-11th Jan, 27t--30thJan). Then question whether to continue following my blog at the end of the month with 4 consecutive losing days (27th30th Jan). This would also be compounded by the small profit on the fifth day of the sequence (31st Jan) February 2010 All top Rated 310 bets +122.03 points @ SP, Only Handicaps 181 bets +109.73 points @ SP

A very healthy profit for the shortest month of the year BUT given the poor run on the last 5 days of January with another 3 days of losses 7th-9th February. We now have a fourteen day period recording losses on seven days with very small profits between. 4 days later another 3 days of losses are recorded. Psychologically, most people have made the decision to hunt elsewhere for inspiration. Losing days are far easier to remember than winning days. Although you are looking at a profitable month overall the peaks and troughs have gone outside of your comfort level and all confidence has been lost. If faith was not lost in February by the end of March most would have lost all confidence with sustained periods of losses and only marginal gains until the 17th March when there was a slight but not sustained change in fortunes. Remarkably March still recorded a profit @ SP. April 2010 All top Rated 154 bets -20.21 points @ SP, Only Handicaps 90 bets -4.83 points @ SP

As the AW season goes in to decline opportunities become less frequent. April sees the first month of loss in 2010. Most would take the view to move on to pastures new. All the impetus and profit from previous months has been forgotten and so the cycle goes on. This is not saying that a profit cannot be made during the summer months. With 10 days to go in May we are showing a small profit but the frequency of meetings is not providing the degree of interest that most bettors find attractive. Over a 5 month period we have a profit of +155.70 points @ SP for ‘All top rated’ and +190.33 @ SP for ‘Only Handicaps’. Only 1 month saw a loss @ SP (in reality a small profit was made but not at SP). I hope this emphasises that many opportunities that are passed over or viewed as failures are in fact successful but the individual’s snap-shot perception and impatience’s that are at fault.
