PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1

3.2

3.3

EXAMINATION
A.

Examine areas to receive glass.

1.
Verify glazing openings are correct size and within tolerance.
2.
Verify glazing channels, recesses, and weeps are clean and free of obstructions.

B.

Field Quality Control:

1.
Coated glass, when viewed from minimum of 10 feet (3 m), exhibiting slightly different
hue or color not apparent in hand samples, will not be cause of rejection of glass
units, as determined by Architect.
2.
Verify glass is free of chips, cracks, and other inclusions that could inhibit structural or
aesthetic integrity.

PREPARATION
A.

Prepare openings and substrates using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for
achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.

B.

Do not proceed with installation until openings and substrates have been prepared using the
methods recommended by the manufacturer and deviations from manufacturer's
recommended tolerances are corrected.

C.

If preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect in writing of deviations

from manufacturer's recommended installation tolerances and conditions.

INSTALLATION
A.

Install glass in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and approved submittals, except
where local codes or GANA Glazing Manual indicate more stringent requirements.

B.

One Hour Fire-Rated Glazing and Framing Systems Installation:

1.
Glazing panels shall be provided with arris cut at butt edges of glass.
2.
Space between glazing panels shall not exceed 5/32 inch (4 mm).
3.
100% pure silicone caulking shall be pressure glazed at butt joints and cured for a
minimum of 30 days before putting into operation.
4.
Glazing shall be glazed with 3/16 inch x 1-1/4 inches (1.6 mm x 32 mm) closed cell
foam glazing tape with neutral cure silicone around the perimeter of both sides of
glass (perimeter silicone shall not be pressure glazed).
5.
PEMKO 3000S45 intumescent tape shall be applied at the top stops in addition to
closed cell foam tape (apply PEMKO tape on top of close cell foam tape to form two
layers).
6.
Due to the complex nature of this wall system, glazing instructions shall be followed
explicitly in order to maintain the manufacturer's warranty and classified hourly rating.

C.

Two Hour Fire-Rated Glazing and Framing Systems Installation:

1.
