Model SI-1K3
Instron offers the SI-1K3 Model pendulum impact tester designed for testing
metals in accordance with ASTM E23. Engineered for maximum accuracy,
simplicity of design, and ease of operation, the SI-1K3 offers energy ranges
from 125 to 300 ft-lbs (169.5 to 406.7 joules). The floor model system is
supplied with Charpy anvils, striker, and specimen supports.
Principle of Operation
The basic model consists of a heavy steel base on which the specimen holder
(anvil) and a heavy-duty cast steel upright are mounted. The pendulum is
attached to a head assembly containing a shaft supported by precision
ball bearings. A single lever located on top of the head assembly performs
three functions: brake, release, and latch. A stop pin prevents release of the
penduum.
The pendulum can be latched in two separate locations known as high latch
and low latch. Since the developed energy is a function of the height where
the pendulum is released, the hammer has dual capacities, one from the high
latch and another from the low latch. Both positions comply with the velocity
range of ASTM E23.
Features
Supplied with Charpy anvils, striker (8 mm), and specimen supports for
testing of 10 mm x 10 mm specimens
