: By the end of the lesson the students will be able to:
Use specific vocabulary to talk about health problems, to discuss ways to relax; to speculate about
causes, to give advice ;to make an appointment ;to describe symptoms
Listen for specific information to improve listening skills; listening for gist; listening for detail; deducing
Pronounce words with Greek and Latin roots
Assumed knowledge: The students know a lot about health and are able to use specific language to describe
health problems ; stress and relaxation;
Materials : Textbook- Upstream Intermediate, Express Publishing, chalk , Computer ,CDs, notebooks etc.

h) The students read the survey results. They then brainstorm to
find out other ways to relax and write the list on the blackboard.
i) The teacher asks the students to go through the list of activities and
categories them according to whether they are active or passive.
j) Students work in pairs and talk about pros and cons of
active and passive relaxation.
k) The teacher monitors Ss performance around the class and then
choses some pairs to present their dialogues to the class
l) Ss work in pairs and brainstorm different ways to relax. Then
Ss talk about each activity and decide whether it is active or passive .
Finally Ss talk about the pros and cons of active and passive relaxation.

Activity 4 (10')

a) The teacher introduces the theme of the next listening exercise

by eliciting from students what stress is ,what causes it and ways to

reduce it
b) The teacher then explains the next listening task which is a
Yes /No statements exercise. She also asks the students to say where they
might hear the dialogues.
c) Ss listen and give answers
Ex. You might here this dialogue in a doctors surgery .etc.
d) The teachers then draws the students attention to exercise 36.
The teacher explains the task.
Your friend is feeling stressed out and wants to make some changes to
his /her lifestyle.

Suggest ways to change his/her lifestyle in order to help
