Honors Reward
HONOR- in the Greek is TIME which means valuable, precious, weighty, esteem, regard,
respect.
2 John 1:8- Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that
we receive a full reward.
LOOK TO YOURSELVES! Examine yourself! Be honest with yourself! This is speaking to
everyone saying stop pointing the finger at others. Stop pointing the finger and blaming God
for doing and not doing everything. The one responsible for me walking in God's best is NOT
GOD it is me.
God is our rewarder first and foremost! We see that in Heb 11:16 and in Genesis 15:1.
Psalm 19:9-11 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are
true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold:
sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in
keeping of them there is great reward.
And here as wellPsalm 57:2 I will cry to God Most High, Who performs on my behalf and rewards me [Who
brings to pass His purposes for me and surely completes them]!
Now that we know God is a rewarder we need to know there in a full reward. Which means there
is a partial and a non reward scenario.
Let us start with partial reward scenario.
Mark 6:5 And He was not able to do even one work of power there, except that He laid His
hands on a few sickly people [and] cured them.
He was no able to! Because they did not honor him. SMALL REWARD. If we break down this
passage their lack of honor was rooted in their unbelief. So you cannot say that you honor God if
you do not believe his Word. You cannot say that you honor what Jesus did on the cross if you
tolerate sin and sickness. You cannot say that you honor your mother and father and talk bad
behind their backs about them.
Another scenario in scripture is seen here. You can see the lack of honor in
Mark 6:2-4

S&LKM
"

And on the Sabbath He began to teach in the synagogue; and many who listened to Him were
utterly astonished, saying, Where did this Man acquire all this? What is the wisdom [the broad
and full intelligence which has been] given to Him? What mighty works and exhibitions of
power are wrought by His hands. Is not this the Carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of
James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not His sisters here among us? And they took
offense at Him and were hurt [that is, they disapproved of Him, and it hindered them from
acknowledging His authority] and they were caused to stumble and fall. But Jesus said to them,
A prophet is not without honor (deference, reverence) except in his [own] country and among
[his] relatives and in his [own] house."
He was mocked which is obviously a lack of honor. Let us look at it in a modern day scenario
friends. "He was in my class?" or "He made my dinner table." How often do we do that do
people? How often do we do that to each other?!
There mental image was NOT like what they were seeing. Sound familiar?
We must change the way we LOOK at things. Pharisees and many others thought the kingdom
coming was going to be way different than what it really is. We must repent and change our
minds and transform them with the Word of God instead of always conforming what the world
says or what our experience tells us.
Here we see this in Luke 17:20-21 Asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom
of God would come, He replied to them by saying, The kingdom of God does
not come with signs to be observed or with visible display, Nor will people
say, Look! Here [it is]! or, See, [it is] there! For behold, the kingdom of God is
within you [in your hearts] and among you [surrounding you].
We must trust that Jesus is the Word and honor Jesus the man, Jesus our
Glorified King sitting at the right hand, and the Word with Godly fear. That is
a huge part of honor mankind is missing.
Here is Isaiah 29:13 And the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near
Me with their mouth and honor Me with their lips but remove their hearts
and minds far from Me, and their fear and reverence for Me are a
commandment of men that is learned by repetition [without any thought as
to the meaning]
Here we see that honor is not an action. It is a matter of the heart. John
Bevere states that "True honor is an outflow from a heart that fears God." Are
we dishonor people in our hearts and dont even realize it? When someone
comes to speak at church do you say Ive heard it all. Or do you say God
appointed this man to teach me this day, and Holy Spirit show me what you
want me to learn today from this message. We can shut out what God wants

S&LKM
to bless us with simply by wandering off in our thoughts, which is a form of
dishonor.
Knowing this we need to recap at look at Jesus not being received in His own
city. He was sent to heal the sick, set the captives free and bind up the
broken hearted. So it was not that it wasn't God's will that was stopping Jesus
from doing "great works" it was the lack of honor, and people were treating
Him like a common local. Because of this they received a partial or small
reward!
Now we will move to a no reward scenario. Here in Luke 5:17 One of those
days, as He was teaching, there were Pharisees and teachers of the Law
sitting by, who had come from every village and town of Galilee and Judea
and from Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was [present] with Him to
heal them.
Did you catch that? The power of the Lord was present with Him to heal
them. To heal who? The Pharisees and teachers! So here we see men that
are trained up in the letter of the bible and have NO spiritual eyes to see that
Jesus is the Truth. Because they are carnal Christians and do not honor so
they receive NO reward.
After going through the partial reward and the no reward we have now come
to the FULL reward scenario. Here we look at Jesus and the centurion. Jesus
responded to the centurions request with I will come heal him speaking of
the centurions servant. The centurion responded Lord I am not worthy that
you should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will
be healed. For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under
me. The Centurion recognized the authority of God on Jesus. When Jesus
heard it, he marveled, and said to those who followed, Assuredly, I say to
you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel. Jesus responded by
saying that he has never seen such great faith. That means that He has not
seen that faith in John the Baptist? Mary? Even His disciples who are basically
bible college students if you think about it. The thing driving this centurion
was a heart of honor. That heart of honor reflected a foundation of respect
for Jesus and the honor mixed with his understanding of authority created
and invited the byproduct of a full reward! If you want a full reward, it starts
with a heart rooted in respect, coupled together with a biblical revelation of
honor and authority.

S&LKM
Let us get into some specifics for when it comes to honor. We will first talk
about the prophet, righteous man, and little ones scenario the Word teaches
us.
"He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him
who sent Me. "He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall
receive a prophet's reward; and he who receives a righteous man in the
name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. "And
whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these little ones even a cup
of cold water to drink, truly I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.
To put it simply. The prophet represents those who are in higher authority
than us. The righteous man represents people on our level of authority. And
the little ones is everyone below us or under our authority. It is very one plus
one. We are to honor them all.
Are we to honor ungodly leaders? Yes.
Romans 13:1- Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there
is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that
exist have been established by God.
Are we to do ungodly things because our ungodly leaders tell us to? No.
Look at this amazing story. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to
deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine
hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve
thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. Then was
Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded
that they should heat the furnace seven times more than it was to be
heated. And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to
bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning
fiery furnace. Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and
their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the
burning fiery furnace. Therefore because the king's commandment was
urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flames of the fire slew those men
that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. And these three men,
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the
burning fiery furnace. Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and
rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast

S&LKM
three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the
king, True, O king.
This was there KING! And even upon being thrown into a furnace called him
O King and your majesty. They did not do the ungodly act that goes against
the Word of God, but they did honor the king in denying his request. What
was the byproduct friends? A full reward! They were thrown into the fire and
did not get burned. They did not even smell like smoke!
Do we talk bad about cops? What about or president? Could we be missing a
reward for all in the party in these cases friends? Yes!
This does not just go with civil authorities it goes for all authorities. Your
bosss your teachers and your coaches! All of them and you can receive a
reward by simply honoring them!
We must also honor our spounses and we see here in scripture.
Peter says, Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving
honor to your wife, as to the weaker vessel. (1 Peter 3:7) AND Let the
wife see that she respects and reverences her husband.
Let us clear this up real quick. Weaker vessel means exactly that. Men can
bench press more than woman. Once you get married you and your wife
equal one circle and all the wisdom and revelation she gets from her side of
the circle must be connected with you men for you to walk in the fullness,
and vice versa. She is not weaker spiritual just physically.
There is a place in scripture where is talks about double honor, and if we can
get a hold of these teachings there is huge reward for all involved. But like
we dicussed earlier it is all about perspective. If you look at a younger
woman or man that knows the word because the labor hard in it and you
dont honor them. You cancel GREAT reward off from heaven.
Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially
those who labor in the word and doctrine. (1 Tim. 5: 17-18)
Many are missing out because they judge a book by its cover. He is to old
or He is to young or they dont look like they know what they are talking
about. I am here to tell you friends God says DOUBLE HONOR goes to the
elder who rule well and those who labor in the word and doctrine. DO NO
MISS OUT on these rewards friends!

S&LKM
Above all else friends we must honor God. God and His Word and Jesus are
synonymous all must be honored above anything we think or feel!
Proverbs 3:9- Honor the LORD from your wealth And from the first of all your
produce.
Corinthians 6:20 For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God
in your body.
FINAL THOUGHT!
All true honor comes from the heart of a man!!! A mans pride will bring
him low, but the humble in spirit will retain honor. (Prov. 29:23)
I want to honor and thank man of God John Bevere for all hes taught me
through books and videos on honor. Bless you man of God. In Jesus name!
