This standard has been published in accordance with a decision taken by CEN/TC 249 to adopt, without
alteration, International Standard ISO 1873-2 as a European Standard.
The responsible German body involved in its preparation was the Normenausschuss Kunststoffe (Plastics
Standards Committee), Technical Committee Formmassen aus Polyolefinen.
Amendments
This standard differs from the August 1997 edition in that Amendment 1 to ISO 1873-2 has been incorporated.

International Standard
ISO 1873-2 : 1997 Plastics Polypropylene (PE) moulding and extrusion materials Part 2: Preparation of test
specimens and determination of properties,
which was prepared by ISO/TC 61 Plastics of the International Organization for Standardization, has been
adopted by Technical Committee CEN/TC 249 Plastics, the Secretariat of which is held by IBN, as a European
Standard.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, and conflicting national standards withdrawn, by October 1997 at the latest.
In accordance with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard:
Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

This Amendment to EN ISO 1873-2 : 1997, which was prepared by ISO/TC 61 Plastics of the International
Organization for Standardization, has been adopted by Technical Committee CEN/TC 249 Plastics, the Secretariat of which is held by IBN, as a European Standard.
This Amendment shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or
by endorsement, and conflicting national standards withdrawn, by December 2000 at the latest.
In accordance with the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the following countries are bound to implement this European Standard:

Unfilled PP test specimens shall be conditioned in accordance with ISO 291 for a period of between 40 h and 96 h
at 23 C t 2 C. Filled test specimens shall be conditioned in the same way but with an additional requirement of
(50 t 10) % relative humidity.
